Depuis les premiers signes de coronavirus dans la ville de Wuhan en Chine, la couverture médiatique a révélé l’ampleur de ses impensés raciaux et racistes. Des “pokémon” d’Emmanuel Lechypre sur BFMTV, au “péril jaune” du Courrier Picard, en passant par “la solidarité en bande organisée” de Paris Match, la presse n’a eu de cesse de montrer la facilité avec laquelle l’imaginaire raciste était convoqué dans la couverture de la pandémie. Derrière ces poncifs, Rokhaya Diallo et Grace Ly questionnent également ce regard ethnocentré sur nous-mêmes et le reste du monde, teinté d’exoticisation et de mépris –depuis la gestion de la crise en Chine jusqu’à l’hécatombe annoncée pour le continent africain.
