Hi Amanda. Hi, how have I go? It's been a while. It's been a hot minute or two I'd say.
Hey, Rose, how are you talking hot cats? It's not even what you're supposed to say. Speaking of hot, it's been really hot here and really how are you? I think like fires and things.
Well, yeah, I just got back into the the the Southland you might call it. Try Metro area. I don't even know what that means. I know I was like, are we calling it the trimester area?
I don't get it. I feel like that's something they say on the news. Like in the greater trimester area blah blah blah. What do they mean?
I don't know. I clearly only paid attention to the first part of the news sentence. Not the rest of it. It was meant to indicate an area, but what area will never know.
Do you mean like the news you watch in the place you live or you just mean like now on TV? I never the news. The news in general as an idea as a concept as a conceptualized thing. No, they do say that sometimes where there's places where there's probably three places.
Three metros. A trimester state or anyway. So you recently got back to the Southland. Where were you?
In the sometime I was in Northern California and then I was Oregon and then I was in Washington. I went all over. So many places. Did you catch Sasquatch?
Because that's must be why you were traveling to so many places. I was chasing Sasquatch. No, I didn't even have to have voted your life to something that matters and I'm excited to hear about it. I didn't actually know.
I knew that Bigfoot was an idea like how the Loch Ness monsters an idea, but I didn't know that there was localized lore. Tell me more. Until I was in Sasquatch territory and everything was named like Sasquatch Coffee like Bigfoot Drive and I was like, what is going on? Does he live here?
Can we meet him? So then I did some googling and I found some people who have dedicated their lives. Fellow freaks of the wilderness. And as usual, I was like, well, that sounds like too much work.
Yeah, I did a lot of hiking though, which kind of sounds fun. Right. Yes. I do get on board with some of the aspects of Sasquatch.
Yeah, I do like like there was one website. I think it was like the like one small town's website and it was like how to like experience Sasquatch. It was like here the place it's been he's been seen or it's been seen and it was a list of different hikes. And I was like, that's a fun way to like go about your hiking, you know, aspirations chasing an unknown monster into the woods.
Sounds great. What a great idea. Yeah, just like this giant monster. No one's been able to pinpoint.
But a lot of people have kind of seen. Yeah, let's go look for it. I did find one story of this guy who was like, I thought it was just a myth in this. Oh my god.
That's scary. He posted it like in the recent five years. Like in the whole. Yeah, this wasn't like this was like in the forums like as as on the late and he was like, I thought it was just a myth.
I thought it would just be like fun to go out hiking. Oh my god. But then he had the story about how he saw a tree that had fallen down and like the way the leaves were, there's no way it could have been just like a natural falling of the tree from weather. And it also couldn't be lumber jacks because it wasn't cut or something.
And the way that he was the way the pine needles were, it had to be someone who was like 10 feet tall. Like it was I was I read it several times trying to like believe his dream. Well, maybe LeBron James went into the woods and pushed over some trees. We don't know.
We don't know a lot about the facts. I know I was like, is that Michael Phelps? He is quite the wingspan. If there's one thing we know about Michael Phelps is wingspan.
Right. So yeah, I didn't find Sasquatch. Maybe next year. I think the season's over now, you know.
He's gone into hibernation. Yeah, it's too much. He comes out for the summer, makes his rounds, makes his appearances. Knocks over some trees.
Knocks over one tree and reveals that through wisdom to someone who comes across it and then yeah, moves on. That's how we like, that's his big splash. That's how we make himself known. He's like, I'm in an october this tree.
Someone will find the tree and they'll know. It's like one tree a year. Yeah. And everyone like looks for the tree instead.
I like a score. I like the sample lore that we just made up. Yeah. Got on board.
We got on board real fast. Hey, man. We can have a Scamania County website. Just like anyone else.
I will get on a bandwagon if it is driving by. Um, do you have anything exciting for us to talk about? I feel like you want me to ask you that. What?
Am I the world's worst interviewer ever? Because I've usually spent the whole time talking about myself. Yes. Yes.
On every episode of long form. One of the hosts was talking about interviewing and how it's tricky. But he talked about how when you listen to yourself on tape, sometimes you're like, what? Stop talking.
Stop talking. Stop talking. Oh, yeah. Cause inevitably you like want them to like you because you're a human being.
And so you can't help but be like, let's have a conversation when it's not actually a conversation. It's you're trying to get information from them. You know, very bad. Um, I do have a quiz.
I have a quiz. Oh, I love an assessment. Let's do that. It's a buzzfeed quiz.
Oh my gosh. This is so fun. I didn't do anything fun like this. I thought about looking up fun stuff.
I didn't I didn't write it at Let the Record Show. It's okay. Writing quizzes is redacted. Anyway, I gotta reload this page or something because I took it first.
So I would have an answer to it's called build a hipster brunch and we'll tell you your inner age. Are you ready? I'm so ready. Let's do it.
Who are you branching with? Your friends, your family, your date, your new friends from last night's shenanigans, your startup co-founder, yourself, um, probably branching with my friends. Do I have to ask for it? Or like really?
I don't know. I guess I should usually do when you do a buzzfeed quiz. I mean, well, this one I guess is based on reality. So I guess we'll see friends when I took it.
I had to remember the last time I went to French. Yeah, I don't think I've been for a while. What kind of vibe are you going for? This one's tricky because it's photos only.
Oh good. Describe them to me. So the first one is a very white, uh, like modern industrial looking establishment. Mm hmm.
The second one is, uh, also modern industrial, but with a woodsy flair. Oh god. Not as like white and that's clean. The third one is like farmhouse fancy.
Okay. The fourth one is like, I don't know, a goddamn farmer's market slush, craft show indoors. There's a bicycle hanging on the wall. There's like pallets everywhere.
Kind of crash shows are you going to a farmer's market. You know, like when they have like really cute booths and there's like a pallet wall and then there's like some burlap and then there's a bicycle hanging on the wall. It's like that baskets of flowers everywhere. Sure.
The fifth one is a updated diner. So like a like a hipster diner. Mm hmm. But the subway tile is a moody maroon tone and the seats are black leather.
Um, and then the last one is like from Gossip Girl, where like there's like giant chandeliers and like fancy tableclaws. So I think based on the descriptions, I want the white one with woodsy details to number two. Okay. I think that's one I picked too, but I don't remember.
Well, we're probably having brunch together for having brunch, so it makes sense. What's this place's claim to fame? One. It's a speakeasy that takes only email reservations.
I mean, okay. Keep going. Two. The nine year old sous chef was on Master Chef Junior.
Never. Three. One of the owners is dating a Saproki. Okay.
Four. It has a Michelin star. Five. Everything is gluten free.
Six. They destroy your phone if you take food pics. Um, it's got to be either Michelin star or, um, the email reservation one. I feel like email reservation is my brand of asshole.
So let's do that one. Also what I selected. Good. Damn it.
Okay. This is not going to be work. Yeah. Okay.
Well, it's not like I already said what age I got. Let's try. We still have a reveal at the end. Who's your, oh, this one's pictures too.
Who's your hot actor model server? Actor slash model. The first guy is like, do you not know who the actors are? Oh, I don't think I think they're stock photography.
Oh, okay. You know, like in LA, how everyone is an actor slash model and also observing a brunch. Yeah. Yeah.
Just pick the one that looks the most like, uh, no. Oh, all right. Go ahead. Uh, so the first one, his name's Witherspoon and, uh, he, he looks, he's tall and has like a dark black beer that's like kind of like a black fedora.
I don't like him. I don't like Witherspoon. Zayma, Zayma Repa, um, is like, channeling Nicki Minaj and she's wearing like a hot pink baseball hat that says hot on it. Okay.
And she's wearing a like black and white fancy plaid shirt. Like it's a buck collared, color shirt, not plaid, but like a look at him. Yeah. Um, Kip is just a nice guy.
He is wearing like Buffalo plaid and he's got a little bit of like five o'clock shadow. Kip's a contender. Ulysses Ulysses is wearing a turban and a denim shirt and laughing really hard. Like he's like a good time.
Like he thinks our jokes are so funny. Oh, like he's laughing so hard. I love that. Garling is has a platinum blonde bob cut.
Very pale skin and like red lips and she's kind of the wind is blowing her hair and she's like trying to keep it out of her face. Okay. I like Garling and then more Jean is our last one and he is wearing a floral colored shirt and a pink bow tie. I like garling.
Take me to Garling. Bloody Mary's and mimosas are so over. Wait, who did you pick? I picked Garling also.
No, you did not. Well, because I wasn't even like I was just thinking about like the last time I went to brunch. Like I wasn't thinking like who do I want. I was like, what is my French experience?
And I feel like it works at every piece in all of Los Angeles. Exactly. In Portland. Yep.
Garling is life, you know? As we always say, as we always say, Bloody Mary's and mimosas are so over. What are you drinking instead? Mosca Mule.
Beer flight. Rosé. By the way, the picture of Rosé makes it look like the eight tomato juice. Ew.
Alcoholic milkshake. Kombucha. Or just water and a lemon. I'm doing a cleanse.
I'll go with Kombucha. All those sound gross. I mean, I want a mimosa. Maybe they don't even have an age per whole year.
They're so over. I know. I love this song. What is it again?
California Dreaming by the Mamas and the Pappas. T-shirt by Migos. Close your eyes and me out to fluff. They're on the jewels.
Ain't too proud to beg by the temptations. Could you be loved by Marlene the Whalers? Or weary by Solange? Man, I don't really care.
I do like Solange. I'll say Solange. Why not? Okay.
Oh my god. Everything looks so good. What are you getting? I'm not getting anything.
Vegetarian. Shakshuka. Ooh, that does sound good. Which I don't know what it is, but it looks really good.
It looks like a little onion with eggs in it. Yeah, it's like a tomato-y, eggy thing. It's so tasty. They make it all over.
La Larmina. Garling is recommended to me a bunch. Garling says it's the best. Garling says it's her favorite thing on the menu.
She always gets it for her ship meal. Elevated toast. And in the picture, the elevated toast looks real, real good. Like one has a hard-belled egg on it.
One has cucumber and dill. Ew. It's all happening. Yeah.
Lobster mac and cheese. Shrimp and cauliflower are grits. Nope. Waffle pops.
Maybe. And gluten-free burger, which in the photo is like a hamburger bun, not a hamburger bun. A hamburger patty on a bed of lettuce. Oh.
Which isn't what I would call a gluten-free burger, but I'll say maybe elevated toast. If the shushuka wasn't vegetarian, I'd say that. That meal was everything. Anything else?
Picklebacks. No. Asagato. Ooh.
A gourmet donut. See, now I feel hungry. You're like lifting all these foods, ruining your life. Let's go find Garling of brunch.
Yeah. A gourmet donut. Fair nay. Is that what it is?
Is that what it is? Is that what it's called? I don't know. It's like pork or something.
Fernet. Yeah. Maybe. Yeah.
And no. But can I get a box or no thank you? Ooh. I mean, affigato because of ice cream.
Right. Well, and it's morning. And here's the thing. I usually wouldn't have something after brunch because I'd be full.
Well, but toast is probably not that much, though. Well, and if they're like, I don't know, I feel like if it's a quiz, then yeah, like if it's an all-you-kneep buffet, how can I say no to an affigato? Not at all you can eat buffet. It's supposed to be a factual representation to guess your age.
Oh. Well, I think I still got the right age. It's not keep picking. The off of the battle looks really good, dude.
No, of course it looks good. I can see it in my mind's eye, even now. All right. That's what I want.
Check's here. What's the easiest way to pay? Venmo. One person can pay and everyone else Venmo.
Option one. Option two. Branches on me. Ooh.
Branches on the company. That's what we do. Three. Everyone pays with cash.
Right. Seems so hard. Oh. Four.
I can probably expense this. Five. Everyone pays with card. Six.
One sec. We're still calculating. Oh my god. It's some sort of horrible mixture of one in the last two.
Let's say one because I think that's usually what happens. Where to next? Oh my god. This is an all-day affair.
Vintage shopping. Bar hopping. Day party. And by the way, for day party, the photo is like a bunch of young people dancing on a rooftop.
Sure. A matinee movie. Matinee. Matinee.
But it smelled matinee. Yeah. It's because there's accents I'm not using. Exactly.
I know French. Look who suddenly remembered a French. Uh, a Capelli beat English because it's not written the correct French way. Home.
And you know, home is a gorgeous white clean room with a nice white couch. Probably home. And networking event. Oh god, home.
By the photo movie. The photo for the networking event is pretty accurate. It's taken from up above. Like you're on some balcony, like looking down on all these poor sad people.
And they're like all like huddled in various little groups awkwardly talking to each other. So yeah, very accurate. Not pictured music that is too loud. Yeah.
What are you saying home? Probably home. Yeah. All right.
I have your results and they are the exact same score as me. Ah. Your inner age is 45. Oh god.
More like 45. Am I right? You are the boss in everything you do because you've put in the long hours of hard work. Your steadfast commitment to your responsibilities is actually spilled over into your personal life, driving you to live your best life, whether traveling abroad or investing in a quality outfit.
Watch your wallet though because those guests yourself can add up. Isn't that like not related to a brunch quiz? It seems very weird and definitely not related. Like why would it be like, here's the boss?
I'm the boss of French. I mean, I find with that, but still driving you to live your best life. It's very pandering. Well, like all quiz results.
I know they're all made up. I answered something different than you. I said vintage shopping because it's literally what we did when we went to French and LA and then we went bar hopping. Right.
Although I might be mixing up two different times. But we've done both of those things. Right. I know.
I thought about that too. I was like bar hopping for a little bit. I'm going for a little bit of a car. I'm like, if we're just splitting it, then just like everyone put in a card at the end.
Yeah, I guess I actually go with big groups like 10 or more people and they just want to like, bend them each other. Well, that's a fun little time. It's good to know what age you are inside and how you're the boss of brunch. And I said I was branching with my startup co-founder because you're the only person you want to brunch with.
That's true. It's just us. This morning our friend, Christy, came over and she brought bagels. So that was a little bit like we went to brunch except we were at home and eating bagels.
No garling, you know. There was no garling. But I was a little bit of a garling because I made amazing pour over coffee. Ooh, I saw from your Instagram stories.
I got real fancy for Christy showing off my skills. Christy is very fancy. Exactly. The fanciest friend that we have.
So I can see them for sure. When we were talking about fancy friends, I was thinking about how tomorrow I'm going to take scraps of carolins wedding dress into downtown and shove them in the faces of the shopkeepers and be like, bring me this lace. The opposite of fancy holding out the window of my broke down for 2003 Ford Focus, streaming them behind me like streamers on the freeway, cackling. Match this lace.
Exactly. Do it now. I do imagine it like a labor death scenario. That's how it feels.
It feels like really, it feels very tense, very frightening. I feel like I don't know what's going to happen. I gathered from your repeated questions asking me what color is it? Well, okay, listeners Abigail sends me an iPhone photo of Carolyn from 50 Feet Away, like wearing her wedding dress and says, can you make a veil to match this?
And I'm like, yeah, sure. What color is that dress? Reports ranged from, I don't know, to, it says champagne. The dress looks white to me.
Well, Amanda has combined 30 conversations about this color into one. I'm just a wild lady randomly sending shots from 30,000 feet in the air, being like, I'm Miranda Priestley. Match this color! No!
This is what John always says, you make me out to be a character. You make me sound like a character. And I'm like, no, you do that by living your life. You sound like a character.
No, the problem was, and I think the listeners will understand this, is it doesn't matter how many pictures I send or how many ways I describe the color. I'm still describing it, and unless I'm comparing it to something that exists elsewhere in the world that you know is a certain color, then how can me saying it's half white or yellow? We have been in the late store so many times, and you have seen the difference between white, off white, pure white, ivory, champagne. You know the difference.
No, I can tell you that they are different. But if I'm 500 miles away from the late store and I haven't been there in three months, how am I supposed to guess off the top of my head, which lace of the five colors of white is the right one? I think I was a fair point. As you can see listeners, I was just about to say, I'm totally in the right here.
And as I said, and an angry text to Abigail, oh, so this is starting to get a philosophical conversation. What color is blue? Do we see the same blue? Who knows?
And I was like, it's always been that conversation. You just are finally getting the point I'm making. Caroline was like, you're the scraps from the lady who hemmed the dress. So I had spared her from your nightmare requests.
I was like, I was like, this is a great thing. She'll be the other. Yes. You're like, thank you.
I'll throw this trash to the trash queen. When her trash it up and her trash novel. Now I'm excited about it. I'm going to really go to town, try to find the right-least and match.
It'll be a boring expedition that nobody but me would enjoy. So I'm going to be fun. Sad I can't join you for you yelling and being. See how obvious it is.
See what lace? There's nothing I don't get to be right about anything in my life. I guess I'm right about everything in my life. Yeah.
Yeah. I don't know. Shouting is just one of the many things that brings me joy. You shouting at you.
I should clarify. I was just looking at how cute we look though and thinking about how this should be a vlog and not a podcast issue. We do not look cute. That is wrong.
You are wrong. First of all, you look like you're in the game survivor. Like you're like in the dark and you've snuck out of like the whatever like tiny ten. Everyone is shoved in that they've made out of a piece of tar and you've like curled out so you could come bitch talk in a confession cam.
You're just like the light from like the one shot camera. Like I said listeners, we look really cute and Avi Kail doesn't want our cuteness to spread all over the world. So take it up with her. Oh, Avi Kail today is National Poetry Day.
Did you know that? Mm-mm. Do you have a favorite poem or poet? There was a poem I really liked when I was a kid.
I memorized the whole thing. What was it? It was it might have been a shell silver. It might have been a shell silver scene thing.
It was about an Indian rubber ball. It was about a shadow actually. Do you remember it though? Do you remember parts of it?
I mean I could describe it but I don't remember lines. But it's like someone describing their shadow and how it like grows and shrinks and how it's like different every hour of the day but it's always with you. Oh yeah, I think that is a shell silver scene poem. But my Indian rubber ball poem Google results did not yield the poem so.
Well, well we tried. We tried to celebrate National Poetry much but- Do you have a poem? My grandma was a poet and had been published a lot for her poetry. Something that I didn't find that interesting when I was a child.
Much like most things it didn't directly had to do with me or me talking or me getting attention. Much like being an adult actually, me talking, me getting attention. Not interested if it's one of those three things. Well now you can appreciate it as you talk about it.
Yeah. And then just sort of like recently and I always sort of looked down on poetry. I always felt like it was sort of a made up thing. I don't know why I have this sort of ultra weird relationship to it or something like that.
But it never really felt like it was that complicated or that much of a talent to me when I would read poetry and stuff and which is such a weird cavalier attitude to take towards that when the rest of writing I really, you know, I tend to really respect novels or something like that. It doesn't seem like that much work because it's so short and so it doesn't seem valuable. But the past couple years I've gotten a lot more into reading poetry. I think maybe it's because I knew more people who wrote it like a friend of the podcast, Amy Cannon and other folks like that who would often share poems with me and stuff.
And I try to read the Daily Poem from Writers Almanac every day and that's kind of a good introduction to trying to find more poets that I like and so forth. But no, I don't have any particular poems. Today I read One by Eileen Miles that I really liked. I guess she's a pretty famous poet and it was all about peanut butter and being in love and this and that.
You know how poems are. You know poems. You know poems. They're always going on about something like that.
I feel like that's how I write. Like if someone described it, they'd be like, you know, peanut butter being in love. It's sad. Yeah, exactly.
You know, you get the gist, which is absolutely not how poems go. Yeah, trying to describe a poem to someone is so funny. Yes. Anyway, this concludes our Poetry Foundation sponsored Two Minutes.
Thanks to our partners, the Poetry Foundation. I forgot about that contract we landed. Yeah, major $2 contract for one mention for two minutes. Anyway, now that that's off our plate, we can speak our true feelings about poetry.
It's dumb. We hated. I just wish I was better at rhyming. Yeah, I often rhyme things with themselves.
I'll be like, the ball, then the ball. You know, the shadow of rhymes with shadow. When I was in high school and I was in this like really hard British literature course at my really difficult high school that I was not interested in that level of academics. It's hilarious because then I continued to choose that level of academics for the next five years.
I know it's just so weird. I feel the same way. I'm like, I hate, I didn't like it then. I didn't care about it then.
I continued to make choices that put me directly in its path for the rest of my life. So I was in this British literature course and we were learning about rhyming couplets or Shakespeare. I don't know. You know, poem things.
Poemish things. Sonnets and what's that word? I am a pentameter. Sure.
And I didn't get it. I understood the math of it. But in a rhyming couplet, there was a downbeat and an upbeat. So when you read it, there's a certain way to read it.
I can't even remember what it was. But it was really obvious to everyone else. You just knew which words had the emphasis. And I was like, but how do you know?
And no one could explain it to me. And I think it may be it's connected to the part of me that doesn't know how to have a beat. Like I can't do rhythm. Oh, but I had to go to special tutoring at lunch with Mrs.
Wallace to like learn it, but I couldn't learn it. That's awful. I just felt like I just felt like. How is this happening?
I don't get it. Like, like, I can memorize what you're saying. But I don't understand it. But I cannot learn the skill question mark.
Yeah. Yeah. So. I think it'd be really funny to record me playing drums and then record you playing drums because I think we both are really, really bad at keeping a beat.
Like I can do it for a little while and it makes John crazy because he'll show me and he's like, no, it's like this because he's a drum urney. It's perfect time. And he's like, it's like this. And I'll do it for like a couple seconds.
And then I'll immediately fall out of beat and start creating this other horrible cacophony that just isn't anywhere close to the beat. Well, I try really hard when I, if I'm clapping along, I have to like pay attention. Well, hey, someone else also has to be clapping. And then I have to be watching them.
So I can like clap at the right time. And if I don't focus that hard on it, I will get off. Yeah, I will get off the clap, which is why I don't like Zumba or like any other choreographed dancing because I'm like, like the amount of thinking required for me to imitate the thing the other person is doing is so much slower than the class time allows. Yeah, I often have to stand at the very back, not like the fun coordinated ladies in the front who are having a great time.
Like move foot side to side front and back. Cool March do the March and everyone's like, ah, spicy fun. They're like adding their own bit. They're adding their like twirling and adding like extra steps and I'm like clomp clomp clomp clomp really graceful, beautiful work.
Clomp clomp clomp clomp. So joke like moments. Yes joke like moments. So I mean, we're just going straight from clomp clomp to joke like moments.
So, you know, fine. Doesn't matter hard to distinguish between the two. Yeah, truly. Any of those moments could be described as joke like moments.
So I recently met up with Abigail to give her some stuff. It sounds very suspicious, but it was just some flower crowns and we run a dark parking lot burning burning them burning them in night oil, which really we were it was not so so pretty close to bedtime. We were whining a lot about how late it was. Garling was there.
It was great. Um, yeah. So Abigail's like, Oh, we'll just, you know, hop in your car and go down to this other Starbucks or something. We can do some work.
And I was like, right? So she like here, just put your foot on anything within the car. She's like, your car was just clean. I was like, I know.
And so like within the past two months, my car was completely clean and already it's filled up again with stuff and belongings because I'm too lazy to take anything in the car to the trash can to inside my house or anything like that. So it is a weird. Well, it's weird because I mean, I feel like I'm pretty lazy too, but I guess I just don't. I don't understand how the stuff goes into your car in the first place.
Yeah, that's confusing. Well, there's stuff like the yoga just stays in there. Yeah, but even a fancy mom with a super clean car as a yoga man in it. That doesn't count.
Yeah, the yoga man's not the thing taking up all the space. I don't know. I feel like there's just like, I'll bring clothes with me and then I'll just leave the clothes in there. And I'll bring like some bowls for a cooking thing and I'll leave them in there.
Like, I don't know. It's just random stuff. It's so weird. It's like bags of things.
It's shoes. It's all this just random stuff. I don't know. Clementine peels.
Yeah, I cleaned out my cups. Yeah, lots of empty coffee cups. I cleaned out my car and then because it was so crummy. Maybe this was a joke like moment before.
I don't know. But recently my friend Hannah was in town and I lied to her and said I had my sister's car because she was out of the country for the time being. You did not tell this before. I was too embarrassed.
You were driving your dirty car and you told your friend that it wasn't your car. Yep. Yeah. That's a joke.
I know. Because she's very fancy and I didn't think we'd actually, I was like, well, just Uber everywhere. But there was a weird thing where I had to go drive and meet her somewhere a little bit further away or something. And then she's like, oh, I'll just ride back with you.
And I was like, okay. I was like, but you know, I've got my sister's car. So it's kind of like a weird mess. I don't know.
You know how sisters are. She was like, she was like, I know, right? I don't know. Amazing.
Truly shameful. And I was like, I'll tell her about this someday about how I'm a trash person, but not now. Not right now. She'll learn someday.
Someday she'll find out. Not by my hand. I know. I thought you were cured of being a trash person because you used to be that way and then you kept your car clean for like several months.
Like, and you talked about how like it just made you like feel less anxious inside and it was just such good life work you had done. Yeah, bro. I leave town for two months and I come back and I'm like, oh, so you are the same person. People don't change.
I see. Oh, no. Yeah. What can I say?
I thought it changed, but also everything is hard. I don't know. My joke, joke life moment is also vehicle related. As many as I can tell it's 10 V.
So I can officially announce this now because the problem has been resolved. But for the last year, my trailer's lock has not worked. Oh my God. I know.
This has given me no end of grief. And the reason why it hasn't worked is because I like locked myself out on like day three of living in the trailer. And the only way I could get back in, it was like late on a Friday night. There was no like, I mean, there wasn't a key.
So I guess I could have called a locksmith, but like, I still would have had to wait a long time. And so I just drilled through the lock. Yep. Which worked.
Well, because I knew that I could just replace the lock. Yeah. When did you do that? So I didn't do that.
Oh, and so for the last year, I've lived in my trailer in the middle of nowhere on streets, on busy roads, et cetera, without a working lock on it. Yep. Just come in, whoever, whatever, anytime. And I never had any problems at all.
And I always like put any valuables in the truck if I was like leading them. But mostly I kept my valuables with me because when all you have as a trailer, you like really don't want to lose like your one computer, for example. And I never had any issues. And I never felt scared because I am missing some sort of like fear bone.
And then and people would find out and they'd be like, what are you doing? Horrified. Yeah. Horrified.
Everyone horrified. As they should be. And I visited my friends Jenny and Joe in Seattle a couple weeks ago and they were horrified. And we had the whole day like we're gonna like hang out, but we didn't have plans besides we went to this Lighthouse Festival.
So after the Lighthouse Festival where we drink beer in a, you know, Lighthouse is falafel next to a lighthouse. Oh, we went to Fred Meyer and bought a lock and some beer. And then Jenny and I sat in the trailer drinking beer with the cats while Joe used my drill, the drill I originally used to drill through my lock. Use my drill to like replace the broken lock with a new fresh lock.
And by the way, it wasn't easy. He had to like kind of like figure it out. It wasn't like, I have to take the door apart. It wasn't as simple.
One, he had to like make an extra hole and stuff. Like it wasn't as simple as like open shut lock business. That's old weird lock. Yeah, no, I get it.
And now I have a working lock and I feel very, very fancy. So I like, just regular. I will read it for everyone that's just regular. Like if I'm gonna go running, I'll like lock the trailer.
And then like when I come back, I'm like, oh, I guess I have to unlock my trailer where everything's still in it. And then sometimes I like leave my computer in the trailer and I'm like, nobody's gonna get this because my trailer is locked. Yeah, pretty cool feature of a door is a lock on it. Pretty great novel, one might say.
I can't take it crazy. That makes me. It's fixed now. Yeah, I have a whole system to prevent me from locking myself out again.
Well, don't tell anyone. I'm not gonna reveal the system. You have a little key and a rock outside everywhere you go. So you put the rock out no matter if it's like a complete green field.
It's like a weird fake rock. It's a high to key fake rock and I'll be like parked in someone's front yard and I just like put it right there, you know, next to the mailbox. I hope that's not true. It could be.
No, it's a fake sprinkler head. It's not gonna reveal my secrets. All right, good. Safety first.
Safety first. Well, that's why I never got hassled because. Well, dude, if you look at the lock, they're like, oh, that thing's been drilled out. You didn't like use a tiny drill.
