Here we go then mate, issue number 43. So we've got the Everson video that we're gonna, well, the Everson part we're gonna talk about and then the flip video that we're gonna get into as well. So yeah, let's do it. And to, you know, Chokas, Everson part.
Now, it's weird. It's an Everson part, right? But I think they've been dropping parts on Thrasher for a little bit now, but this is a part of the whole video. I'm sure it is.
And they've just been cutting it up. Just kind of like a lot of the companies have been doing, but they've just been a little bit kind of more like subdued about putting all their shit out, which I kind of like, you know what I mean? They're not saying it's all about shit. It's just a little sprinkle and there's someone who's obviously kicking ass at the moment.
Exactly. I do like straight away the tune behind this music, which really goes like a Japanese sort of hip hop sort of thing going on. Yeah, I actually did really enjoy the music. It works for really well.
And then straight away it was a classic Ryan Turda fucking maneuver. You see what I like? Yeah. It's like a front side 360 shove it kind of like on the ground.
Or make up a walk, the dog. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Just let it slide and then just carry it on. Bit more of a flow, bit more of like a dancing flow.
Really creative. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then after that show, he just puts a nice crispy tray for that mate. So he's saying, look, this stuff I really enjoy doing, but I can offer a nice meaty tray flip.
Yeah. And then it's into a quick line as well. Yeah, yeah. I think it's like a Nolli Five-O, which is a nice, nice, nice, clean trick.
And then he hits it with the fucking wall ride like pretzel foot thing. Do you think your break your ankles try that mate? I have actually got the front show of pretzel, but I don't know if I like that. Yeah.
It's not as hard as it looks, but land and with speed, you know, I don't know if I'm going to do that. I don't do it pretty slow. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, that allows someone to go in a slow as they want to go.
I think I've tried to do like the kickflip pretzel foot when I was younger, you know, when I had time to actually be bothered to do that sort of stuff. And I just, I don't think I've got anywhere close to it. I think I'd always like, put a seat in a foot out there, you know, like one foot go on. I think my right foot I might like allow to go on the front of the board on regular.
So my right came around, but I would always know that the safety of the grounds are a better place for me to put my left foot or vice versa. I was like, I can't, I can't commit to this. I know I'm just going to be wiped out here. I know my legs are going to get whipped up, you know, hit pipe and I'm, but yeah, I mean, that is a nice way to start a line up.
You know, like a part of it's like going, here's something like this, some classic, classically trained tricks and it's a bit of my flavor that's pretty cool. And then I think he hits, then he hit some crazy, more like front side, no complies sort of things, but would also do you go around, I can't even tell you the name of the tricks. And like, you know, as soon as that foot goes down, I don't know the name of the trick, but. It was a really funny one to watch and try and make notes for because there was so many tricks that stood out, you know, front side, no complier either.
And then it'll go straight into a pressure flip. His feet are so quick. You've got you've got to plan a lot of his minds. Did you know the name of the trick that when you do, you do like the boneless, but then you jump, you jump through it.
I did know, I did know it's kind of like a Fred the Needle type thing, but I don't know what it could. Yeah, yeah, like a little pogo sort of thing. Obviously it's not a pogo because that is a trick, but it's like a boneless jump through. And then he jumps on a handrail, there's a five oat in the, I'm one of them.
And it's like, what the fuck are you doing there? Five oat on a round rail from pretty much no speed because you don't have that much speed doing like a boneless into something, do you like a caveman solving? Yeah, not at all. Ooh, your weight's going down.
Definitely probably has a little bit of weight to play in there. I'm not sure how old Kento is, but obviously he can throw himself a bit more when you got the bit more weight, you know, you can't really be in dangerous there. Yeah, yeah, I'm with you. Yeah, you got someone like Brian Anderson trying to do that.
Yeah, it's not going to happen. You're going to get more breaks on the board. It's just you can't really bounce off of stuff as easy. Was there any highlights in there that you really liked?
I can't remember some of the times it was like three ledges or whatever in a row kind of like plant ledges and some of them. I think it was like, Ollie or no comply to one, then it was kind of like kick flip from one to the other, like no comply front side. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I kind of like that.
I was kind of almost expecting like some manual combos to come out from that. That's what I would have done at that spot, you know, but to see something like that was really nice. I liked it. This is, you know, Kento showing us what he can do is super creative, super quick feet.
Not necessarily my style of tricks at all, but it's really fun to watch. Yeah, I'm with you. I mean, me and you, you know, obviously we enjoy kind of like, you know, the love park era, the, you know, some flippin to some sort of slide or grind, you know, that's our kind of, you know, or some sort of like tech man, he sort of thing. It's not too outrageous, but just just some clean, clean bolt shit.
You know, me and you got the same sort of flavour with that, just because it's the area that we kind of grew up in. But seeing this, it's like, it's so, you can see how dangerous it is and how great, but just how creative it is. And it's like, you've got to love it. You've got to, and it makes you kind of go like, fuck it, you know, when you piss around with skating, you can just, you know, the end of the session, like playing around with no stalls and, you know, like at the station when you've got the little plantar curve that we're just fucking about on it.
It kind of shows you, if you actually did fuck about a lot of stuff, you'd probably find some really creative things to do and you'd probably enjoy them just as much as trying to hit like a really clean crook. You know what I mean? Exactly. And I think almost within that reason, everyone's kind of got, you know, maybe one or two of those things in their bag on the curb, from the game of stalls or something that gets out of hand and someone's got that, you know, but when you put them together all the time, you can really have some fun with it.
I'm gonna pull one of his tricks up now. It was like the no-complied power slide into a front tail. And then he popped up the stairs into like a nose manual. But a lot of those tricks kind of fit in with the tricks that me and you like, like obviously if we was watching someone skate that, they'd have probably just done a drop down front tail, pop up or something like that.
The nose manual, yeah. Exactly. Or maybe just plain and simple front tail, but it was nice watching. You could almost think half the tricks he's doing, I'm guessing what he's gonna do next.
And it completely froze off what he's doing. Like a nice clean front one eight year old, a nine eight year old, a bank thing, or like that bank I'm expecting him to do a trick to fakey or maybe something to like a fakey manual or a stool. Then it pulls up to a bonus or, you know. So so many things I'm like really gigging it.
And I'm set, I don't not get thrown off by it, but it's kind of nice when you're really surprised. Yeah, I'm with you as well. I mean, there's one trick that stuck in my head straight away. It's a kick flip obviously, you know.
Got a lot of kick flip. So it's on the 117 and he's talking a little kind of like plinth. And then he puts board like a couple of feet away from him on another ledge. Like a little ledge he's gonna jump onto his board.
Yeah. So he jumps over to his onto his board. If I can kick flips to another little plinth the same size he's standing on. Literally, I mean, basically board length.
Yeah. And then he lands on it. One foot to left foot, he's regular, left foot on the plinth, right foot in the back pocket and the tail. And then he doesn't want to know, you know, comply out of there.
And it's like, who's doing that? Who is thinking about, you know, landing, no comply? But that, I mean, that's just a different kind of fish. He's opening up a different universe of skateboard right here.
Exactly. Like I was saying a second ago, it's almost like, you see that, you're almost like, oh, he's gonna, he's gonna, he's gonna bonk it now. And then does the front side, no comply out. It's great.
And something you just, I would never think of anything like that. Yeah, cause if you, if you had just done a little kick flip manual on that or something, mate, I mean, that'd have been, you know, that's what, that's what me and you would have been thinking, well, fuck, I wouldn't, that'd look too small to land on that thing to me. But that's sort of like classical, classical train, Kerry gets move that you might, you might see, you know, something like that. And then he's just, yeah, just, yeah, just hitting that.
I mean, there's a double angle. And was there someone, you might have done it twice then. It shows you how good he is. I'm not sure if there was a, um, a film or in that first angle.
Like there's a wide angle. I said, well, look, I don't think it was, no. So he's, I think he's done that twice, which is, I mean, how, if you did that once, mate, you wouldn't need to do it again, would you? No, I'm happy.
Done. I really liked the switch when you will ride. Yeah, I liked that as well. I really liked it.
Cause a switch when eight is one of those funny tricks. And it's kind of like, we all kind of, something, not frown, frown, frown upon it. But it's like one of those easy tricks, you know, that kind of whips around nicely, but still feels real good. Yeah.
It was a trick that I probably did again when I was a little bit younger, but when you first start learning, you know, switch tricks, you could throw it down some stairs, you know, could throw it down something and switch when I eat. Yeah, it was definitely the first switch trick I had in the bag. And it was an easy thrower. Yeah.
But yeah, him to put that into a wall ride. It was just, I mean, it's the right trick for it, isn't it? You know, if you, if you, it's just a right trick, there's another trick, I don't know if it's, is it near the end? It's around a three minute mark.
So like two 55, you can go around that. I've got a 303 here, which might be the same trick I'm on. Is it the air walk? Yeah, I've got that written down.
Yeah. Yeah. He has that with a security guard first, so that he tries it. He barrels.
Yeah. Then he goes. Yeah. I like the Japanese security guards with the white gloves.
And he goes and turns will be back in the day. You'd always get him kind of like, you know, throwing the X up. You know, they'll always throw the X with the hands in front of the camera to say no. Because the Japanese are polite, they should make.
So they're not going to call you a bastard for doing so. They just say, Hey, come on now, please, please don't make me throw the X up. And then, but yeah. So you, you can, you know, talk about them and they're always jogging behind him.
Throws it. I mean, it's, it's surely that's not a first, he wanted it first, right? I didn't see. That's a proper, that's a proper, on that first attempt that he barrels up.
That's a big alley into an hour. No, I can't do an hour. I've always appreciated them. Oh yeah, I mean, it's- A street elves as well.
Yeah, street mates, street grabs are fucking, where is that, right? Then it's a big old stair set. I mean, what is that? It's got to be close to like 12 or something, right?
I haven't counted the steps, but it's got to be something around that, so it's not bigger than a 10. It's a 12, I think, just over. There you go. If first, 12 stairs from Alkinto.
Mm-hmm. Was that the ender? I think I was, isn't it? Does he get anything else after that?
Yeah. All there is a few tricks afterwards. It's like a bowless, staly, finger flip tail, like gap on one of those mini ledges. Yeah, just leaving you with his flavour.
Yeah. Yeah, it wasn't, I'd still probably, I'd probably still say the air walks is ender. Yeah, that was almost just kind of them like disappearing out of frame. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
You got it. Yeah, I really, really enjoyed that video, mate. Like I'm a big fan of Everson. You know, I'm pretty much riding their boards for a long time now, really good wood.
Love a lot less skaters. But this is just, it makes you just kind of, open your eyes a little bit again. You know, everyone stays in their lane mostly, but it's really nice to kind of see what other people are doing. You know, when you see like Richie Jackson, you know, when you see him playing around and all Rodney Mullen back in the day or day one back in the day, when people are pushing the ground, it's like how fun is it to watch someone do things that you just, you never even thought of, not that you couldn't do.
You know, certain things you watch and you go like, I can never do that, but you just look like I never, you wouldn't even have a thing about doing that. It's almost the way where he's being cocky, but with himself, you know what I'm saying? Like he's pulling these tricks out, two or three tricks in a line, and then throwing another trick out. All really creative, you know, really creative tricks, really silly, silly fun, feel good tricks that, you know, you've got, you can't just, you've got to fucking practice this.
You know, so it's really cool to see someone else flaring up. Yeah, I mean, he can do your basic shit mate. Well, I'm saying basic, he can do your standard maneuvers. He can do all the classical tricks.
He obviously just gets more of a kick out doing something that makes him smile, you know, and something that just gets him thinking a bit more, which should be commended, you know, rather than saying there's some goofy tricks in there and this, that and the other. It's like, that is, yeah, he's obviously loving that, putting his foot down. You know, I don't put my foot down, do I mate? You know, it's rare.
Oh, no, no, no, no. I can throw a friend's obonus. That's what we're getting out of me. Yeah, that's it.
You can see, by the way, skating is just having fun, like, he's enjoying himself, which is cool. I think that's why it makes it more enjoyable to watch. Do you know what I mean? Anyone can, not anyone, you know, a lot of people can do standard tricks, and that is what it is, but when someone's doing something different, it's cool, especially when it looks right.
Yeah, exactly, yeah. You know, sometimes it can look a little bit, it's a bit too goofy, but he's hitting out with some seas, you know, he's hitting out with control and style, landing it cleanly, you know, not landing it too sloppy. So, yeah, it's, yeah, it's fucking, it's good shit, really good video. Yeah, you have not watched it, you should.
Yeah, yeah, two right, yeah. If you haven't seen that video, get onto Thrasher, that's where I'm watching it anyway. Go to Thrasher, it'll be on one of the videos that first pop up on the, I'll scroll down a little bit, but, you know. Yeah, if you want to be waiting for this, well, do a out of five, and then a solid points, and then I'll allow you to put a point something on there if you want, so we can do a solid, you know, solid three, solid four or whatever, and then if you need to give it a three point something, then I'll allow you to stick that in there as well.
Yeah, yeah. What you thinking then? I'm going to go with a solid four. Yep, yeah, that's fair, that's fair.
And then if you need to place anything else, you're going to put a three point eight, you're going to put a four point two, or you're happy with the one. I would actually put like a three point seven five. Okay, yeah, I was thinking three point nine, so I was solid four and I was probably, say, three point nine, just because. I couldn't give it a three.
No, that'd be bang out, I've ordered wouldn't it really? Really, if you give it a three, that's a little bit harsh, because again, who else on the planet's doing that shit? Really? Exactly, there's only a handful of people you could probably throw in that category to compare that to, you know what I mean?
Yeah, it's one of those things that it's kind of like, when you get to the fours and the fives, obviously, heavy shit goes, you know, with the Dame Verma part, we gave him like some, you know, obviously we gave him a solid four on the previous episode and a four point, whatever. I think John I might give it like a four point seven or something, he went high on it. Which is a very good video for Dame, yeah, but it's a personal preference thing, right? That's where it starts to turn into, where if let's just say, Chris Cole puts out a video tomorrow, mate, obviously going to, a lot of people will do, because he's one of the greatest of all time, but people might be putting a few more scores on his card because it's Chris fucking Cole, right?
That's just how it is. Exactly. Let's move on to the second video, shall we? So we're going to look at the flip in a Spaniard part.
We had to cover, didn't we? You know what I mean? That's what our good friend, just absolutely live in a legend, Tom Penny in it. So Penny's touching only thing we're going to have to talk about and pick him up.
Yeah, and he actually blesses up the wisdom in there as well, he just blesses up, but almost blesses up the wisdom in there as well, didn't he? It's funny, I actually saw a lot of this footage and a lot of stuff that he filmed with this. I can say it now, I saw before the video was out. So he was showing us an Oxford scapegoat.
Just all kind of like downloading this footage and looking at some of the stuff. So I saw a lot of this shit, or he told me about a lot of this shit that he'd done. And he even told me about it. So the injustice of the, you heard about the shifty flip mate, right?
No, I haven't. So he gets the shifty flip over the rail again. Right? They don't put it in a video because that footage got lost or corrupt.
They're fucked up. Yeah, yeah, fucked up. So there is, did someone did film it on lock of phone? So there is an angle of it.
Yeah, but yeah, it got lost. Yeah, because I was thinking, because the cut of it is like the icon for the video and it's not in the clip. Yes, exactly. So I was really confused.
Like, did he, you know, I didn't, thanks, I know the story behind it. Yeah, yeah, he got it. Yeah, you can see the footage of it somewhere. I don't know if you've got a couple of times.
Maybe you've got like a, anyway, he landed it, you know, it's a long time in between. Well, let's get stuck into the video anyway. I love the start of it with the arto arto. Oh, yeah.
It just brings you back home, none of it. It's just like rolling it right back. Yeah, if you don't know, you don't need to know, but if you do know, it's just a lovely kind of like, it's a little cuddle from the past, isn't it? That is, it was just, especially those two guys together, you know, paying some homage to their own previous past.
You got it. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly.
Homage themselves. And then, yeah, and then, I mean, I don't know, who we got in there? So we've got quite a few new boys in there as well. So there's like people like Denny Pham, and what's his, Alexander Risvads, Arch of the over, like a few, a few kind of youngsters, absolute menace is on a fucking skateboard mate.
You still got your old boys, you still got the, you know, Penny Gonzales, Sarri and all that lot, but somebody's new boys have thrown in some heavy shit. Oh, yeah. Super heavy shit. And some tech in there as well.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. I mean, the thing that I like stuck up to me, because obviously, you know, we, I suppose we get a little bit of transition with Penny down the park, but we'd skate a bit more street with him. So seeing the, seeing the, the bit of transition he does with his kick with his drag flip, the classic maneuvers on that little quarter pipe. I can't remember, I can't find the time for that at the moment.
It's near the start of the video. But it was like, that is just, that's all you need, right? It's, I think it's around the one, you go around 120, I think you'll probably find it. Yeah, that 120 mark, he does a fakey flair, he does a lovely tray flippener.
And I think he does a kick flip as well. And it's like, that just shows you the effortless style of Tom Penny and why people love him. You can go higher if you need to. He just, on that particular day, didn't need to.
He's just showing us the flow. Yeah, cause I mean, like I said, you know, in terms of the height and everything. If you go on to the Oxford Skate Co Instagram, and you go scroll back, remember is flip on the virtual mate. Oh yeah, flip faking.
Yeah, flip faking on the virtual. I'm sure everyone's seen it. The one in the corner pocket. If you haven't been to OWP, that's a big virtual.
Yeah, I'm sure Tom is on as well. So, but if you go on Oxford Skate Co, it's probably a better way to see it. It's like a white toilet. But yeah, it's like, he is a transition master.
You know, he don't, he don't fuck up. You just let him go. He'll try shit on transition. And that's the way we landed for, you know, most tries, but he'll be wanting the one that's right for him.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, he gets quite particular, you know, it's like, no, you can get it again. You've got to clean up a little bit. He can get it again.
He's just got so much awareness when he's on any transition. You can just tell, you know, you might even go up there and I all out before he's doing it, but he's got so much control and awareness. You can just see it. Yeah.
What other tricks have you got in there, mate? Is there anything that kind of stands out? I really like the start, you know, Tom Penny, you get the, I don't know, the young kid's name, the start, it goes a big, big, big, big flip or whatever. But then after that, you get some little front board on the stair set, I like that really.
Pretty big, pretty big drop though, right? You know what I mean? I think you could, I think you could probably hit it, mate. Obviously you're a good front board on a ledge, man.
You kind of, that's one of your, you know, it's a nice trick. Yeah, it's pleasing. It's a nice little, you know, sort of quick hit. There's some nice little one, but it's in there as well.
Like further into the video, I'm sure he has like some nice meaty lines over there. Yeah, I love a bit of the line. Yeah, he's just one of those guys, again, I mean, he can hit some bigger flips and big flips here and there, but his kick flip, his tray, frontside flip, they are just so good. They're just, they're how everyone should be doing it really.
You know, they're just perfection. Power, yeah, just so much. So much power as well. He's got a huge part.
The thing I really like about this video as well is like, you know, when you kind of see in skate park footage of these boys and it's like, it just seems like that's kind of missed these days. Like back in the day, you know, I always reference for one because it was a huge impact on my life and inspiration to me is, you know, watching skating, but it's like seeing these demos and seeing these skaters operating these demos is like, there's something special about it. And seeing, you know, having all the kids, you know, around just watching and observing these pros, just fucking hitting their shit. It's just, yeah, it's just, yeah, it's really, really special to me and kind of, it kind of breaks down that glossy barrier that kind of, you can almost picture it happening near you, you know, you can almost place yourself going like fuck me.
If this team just turned up in front of me, yeah, you would just sit back in awe and just watch, wouldn't you? 100%, yeah. And those skateboarders who have been lucky enough, you know, to live not too far from a decent side skate park or skate spot and have had the opportunity to see some real good pros, you know, skate and have a session in front of you or jam session, whatever, is one of those moments where you, like you're saying, if you watch this stuff, you know, you can really relate to it. If you've been to one or two of the Odemmo or whatever and can really connect with the video and see how it all flows.
It's nice. Yeah, exactly. There was a, there was a bump, there was a, like a brick bump, a few of them were skating around, I think it's around like a three minute mark. Let me just, I'll try and see if I can get the exact code.
I'm sure it's around like 320, yeah, 320. You got David Gonzalez that hits a beautiful backside of it right over it. And you got, again, one of the youngsters, I don't know his name, I'll talk to my head, but he just puts a perfect tray over this thing. And it's like, The planter things, like the tree, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, volcanoes. I mean, I'd love to hit a big shove over that mate. Mate, they look real fun. That'd be asking for a shove.
Or just a, just a, you know, get a real nice ollie over it. You know what I mean? Like just boost one, just boost one and try and suck up as much as you can. Yeah, it'd just be really, yeah, really nice feeling.
It's something like one of those skate park obstacles in the street, you know, not very lucky to get those. Exactly. What trick would you like to get, if fuck Bill was at that spot, obviously, you know, he's gonna get the ollie mate, you might throw a back one, but what trick would you want to get on that? You know, that would be the dream trick for you, over that thing, hit a nice big, very hill.
Would you just go for a fat hillflip or a nice front shove or something? Well, you know, if the front shove goes over nicely, then the very hillflip's gonna be just not much harder. Yeah, I'm with it. So if both of those happen, you know, that'd be really nice.
If possible, it's not big or big and possible or something like over those. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's really nice bank to bank trick. Yeah, that is a bank. Yeah, yeah, forget about your impossible mate.
That's a... If it can go over, you know, if it's looking good, I'd definitely give it a throw. Yeah, I'm with you. Well, when we hit Spain, mate, in the future, I don't know exactly where this is in Spain, because it's a proper tour video, but if we get there someday, then yeah, I'll be holding that to you.
I'll throw it, I'll throw it. Yeah, I know you will. No, that'd be cool. Oh, there is a little bit of ruining there as well, isn't it?
Sorry, I forgot about that. Oh, yeah, the clip. The big fucking meaty bowl that I would not be seen dead in. I'm like, kicked around the bottom of it.
But I think... It's a seedy struggling, yeah, to pump around. Cliffberg, like, is that Cliffberg who, yeah, Ollie's from the top of it, over the gap into it. Yeah.
Comes around, hits some shit, and then spurs a lip slide or whatever you want to call it. But yeah, like a front lip over. It's like, I guarantee you that that gap is bigger than it looks. A lot bigger than it looks.
Yeah, sometimes with other ramps, I'd be really hard to make him look that big, but you can just tell, by the way, when he gets out of the bowl, he doesn't look big at all next to him. Yeah. There was another trick that I really liked, just after that, Danny Fam hits like a... I think he's goofy.
I'm sure he's goofy, because he's in a... He's hitting a fakey down there. Was it a fakey? A fakey?
Not heel or weapon. Yeah, not heel down it. I make sure I can't get fakey here. If he's fakey, he'll end down that.
I mean, that is crazy. Who can do that? But it was so... It was perfection.
It was absolutely perfection. You can't hit a bit of Nolly Hill than that. Yeah, it's lovely. Sucked it right up, caught it, leveled it out.
And then after that, he does a Nolly backside flip down it. Is that him? Yeah, it looks like... Yeah, it was shredded ass fucking trousers.
Yeah. Jesus. Yeah, I think that is him. Some of the little looks, if you get a little closer with his face.
Give me one... No, I don't think it's him mate. I think someone else thinks one of their new guys. Oh, right.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. That's another one of the boys hitting... Yeah, you can see him at the end. Yeah, that was crazy impressive.
And then, yeah, then we hit like a little one bit. Just... Yeah, he's just pissing about on these fucking over knee-high ledges. Just as like a little kind of...
It's almost like cutaway sort of shit for him. But he hits like a half big meaty, half-calf lip. Sniffs the first bit, pop out. And then just big old nose-growing on it.
And it's just like, he's doing it for fun, right? That's not even a problem. Yeah, to me, that looks like the boys are out. Maybe they're all grabbing a quick coffee or something.
And he's just... They're doing a few tricks in the street. This is what happens. He's just all those equipment.
You know, he's quickly touched that. Yeah, there was a couple of fronts-up. It's obviously on so much what's really, if you hit some fronts-up lips, you're going to get an honourable mention. And there was a couple of ridiculously good fronts-up lips.
So it's just after... There's like this brick bank spot that David Gonzalez just hooves right over, like the hip of it, which is insane in itself. It's crazy good. But the two...
If you just hit around 230, you'll kind of get all of that. But then you've got one of the guys... The spots were added as, again, I apologize for not knowing a name, but you... I'm sure that people watching him will know.
It's a beautiful front-side flip over like this kinked rail, green wall, kinked rail with some pink graffiti behind it. It's just a real nice front-side flip, proper landing. You know what I mean? He's committed to that heavy landing.
Rolling away pretty much just as much speed as he takes off with. Exactly. And then then he then hits the Ali Boolala inspired switch-allie over it, which I really like as well. I really, really like.
I like a good switch-allie. Well, you know, mate, you know you've got to give it some. You've got to just hold it long... Just hold it long as you want to hold it.
And trust yourself longer than you want to trust yourself as well. That's it. And then after that, we have another beautiful front-side flip over, like into like one of those kind of... You kind of get those metal kind of caged football basketball courts, and there's like a fence going into that.
It's a drop into it and someone hits the front-side flip into that as well, which is just beautiful. Yeah. It's one of the younger guys. I don't...
I'm not kind of well in tune with the new guys in the Flipskate team, so I'm not going to kind of say one... Just be able to find out if you're on Instagram and kind of figure it out, we could have done it, but we didn't. But whatever. You can do it at home.
Yeah, sometimes... Sometimes we need to put some names in here. Well, they do it for one, didn't they, mate? Back in the day, they'd always put the names.
Always put the names out. I like a bit of a name call, even if it's for the guys who we know who it is. Sometimes it's just nice, you know what I mean? Just to see them.
Yeah, well, the words, you know, Tom and Penny together, mate, it's nice seeing that on the screen, right? Yeah, mate, just smile. Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
Yeah, I mean, this video, it's just... It's kind of like a... To me, it's a throwback to an old tour video. Yeah.
You know, it probably could have probably could have had a... You know, maybe with tour videos you'd probably go a little bit longer, if you needed to, but I suppose... What was it around like the... Is it around like the six minute mark or something like that?
I can't remember. Yeah, just six minutes, 20 seconds. Yeah, so it's kind of like... You probably could go for a nine minute, you know, for a tour video.
You can get away with it. Yeah, 100%. Sometimes things can drag out, but I definitely was left wanting more. Yeah, because once...
So obviously, the end of this whole video, which is a really nice thing for Flip to do, and we should commend him for it, and the old boy who edited this video, given that kid his kickflip, you know, down that... I think it's like a double set at that park. Given that to him is only going to give him... I mean, you know, kind of give me a little bit of like a, you know, little tingles watching that, how emotional that kid was and how much it meant to him, kind of skating with those old boys.
But that will only do good things for that person's future. You know, that's only going to just warm his soul for as long as he can remember. He's never going to forget that. The hype and...
Oh, yeah, as you say, you know, the feeling that kid will have forever. He'll remember that for the day forever, and probably just keep inspiring him to get his kickflips and his tricks down, and he sets and just opens doors to himself. Oh, mate, and yeah, his legs are going to be jelly as fuck, right? You know what I mean?
Like he's skating with those old boys. He's going to be jelly-legged. And you know, you can tell he's not the greatest kickflip, but he's probably been skating for a couple of years, got his helmet on, which I do think is a good thing for a kid of that size, who may not have the confidence. I never wore a helmet.
I'm sure you probably didn't wear a helmet able, but I'm never going to hate someone for protecting themselves, especially their head. You know, that's probably a sensible thing to do, right? Yeah, if you're young, you know, you don't... It's good to do it, it gives you that extra confidence boost to try extra stuff like that.
Yeah, it's kind of like with snowboarding. I've been told, again, I don't wear a helmet snowballing, definitely should be real. I don't like it. Yeah.
But I have done occasionally just to throw the GoPro on there, because I put a chest now on once and it was terrible, but I had to throw the helmet on. But that same session, actually, the helmet I had, because I'd never really wanted one. It didn't even really fit me properly. And I ended up falling over.
I was going down the hill pretty steep. I was going backwards, and I ended up just catching a load of snow and fucking whipping back my head real bad. And I ended up whipping it into the helmet, if you know what I mean. So it would have been less painful if I didn't have it on.
So since then, I've never really wanted to wear one. But I suppose if it fitted me better, it would have probably been right. Yeah, like, what I was trying to say is that I've expected loads of people that gave them extra confidence when they put the helmet on, because they felt like, you know, sometimes when you're when you're snowballing, and you can't really see what's going on in front of you. You've got to kind of, you know, it happens quite a lot, but you can't really see and you kind of got to work out like what the fuck do I do in a situation?
Yeah. You know, like big drops and stuff like that. And this one guy was snowballing with like a four day sort of stint. He was saying when he put his helmet on, it kind of just those sort of drops, he didn't have to worry about him anymore.
He kind of just he could just drop off something because he knew that even if there was something a bit dodgy on the side, at least he knows he's not going to fucking smash his head up. Which I still haven't worn a helmet snowboard. I'd like to give it a go just to see if it does give me the extra confidence. I mean, yeah, I feel like I'd have to try the same at some point, just to see if it does it.
Otherwise, probably just like you, I feel like, oh, I don't wear one on skateboard. And sometimes I feel a bit just a bit trapped with one on, I guess. I like I like the feeling of the being on my head maybe just or I heard when I'm snowboarding. If I need to, but otherwise it's nice not to have it.
But kudos to people who do wear them. There's no shame there. Oh, no, not so. And if you've got one that's well fitted, because again, I know exactly what we're talking about with that sort of bale mate where you catch your heel edge and then get fucking whipped.
If you come off something and you just, it's almost like you feel like you're going straight. But obviously your weight's kind of pulling you around and you fucking just catches wrong. You can get whipped properly on the back of your head. Oh yeah, that was it.
Because there's nothing there. But like you said, you've got the helmet, that's something extra smacking into the fucking into your head. Yeah, that was definitely the case. You know, the powder was deep enough.
That's why it whipped me so hard. But obviously my head just, it was almost really just like banging my head on the helmet. It was probably the worst bit because it didn't let me sink into the snow. So if you didn't know, we all in Canada, you know, he's a proper resident of Al-Canadia.
There's a question for me, mate. When is it snowboard season yet? When's it start kind of coming in for you? I think they all officially start opening the end of this month.
But I could probably go out there right now and snowboard maybe even down my street. Really? Yeah. I have to show you later on, I got icicles all around my house at the moment.
Some of them are about two foot long in the space of a couple of days. So yeah, last week I could have probably been out in a t-shirt or maybe a hoodie. And yeah, now it was like minus nine when I woke up. That's pretty chilly, right?
Well, in Canada, it's not that bad. It's going to be, it's going to probably going to see another 10, 15 degrees, 20 degrees lower than that eventually. But it's starting. But you never know.
I'm hopefully still going to get some sessions in before it's just just snowboard season. This year, this year, I'm going to buy a last year. I got a super cheap one of those snow skates. There's just like a deck for design to ride in the snow.
Yeah. But I'm going to spend like $60 or a bit more, maybe 100, which is like 60 pound and get like an official one and you can actually boost propagate flips and trade flips and stuff like that on them. How does it keep you straight? They've got straight grooves underneath the bottom.
Right. Because that's, you know, like obviously, you know, every skate has done this. When it's, you know, you get a snow day and you, you're going to do some kickflips or whatever. You slide about a lot.
So these things kind of keep you, you know, on the straight and arrow, you can actually, you can actually can't, you know, do real tricks on them. Yeah. That's it. It's quite funny, actually.
There's quite a few people who do it. But there's a new fresher in the view. If you haven't read it, there's John Shanahan from DC. He's up in the North America, up to Brooklyn, Chicago, that sort of way, Brooklyn way.
And they get the bad snow and he all them snow skates at the Brooklyn banks and stuff. When it's real bad. So they'll go down the bank and they'll set up a kicker over a bench or something and just practice normal tricks if they can't skate. So it's doable.
Nice. If you get a legit one, the one I had wasn't so legit, it's quite fun. Yeah, a lot easier than trying on a blank deck. Blank deck is really hard.
It's fun, but this is a lot more, a lot more similar to skateboarding. But this is a bit of a bit of a, let's give that little teller a rating as well for a tour video. So, you know, give it for a tour video. It's a little bit different, you know, market it in compared to, you know, an actual part.
But as a tour video, I'd give it a solid, you know, three, I'd say it's a nice, some nice, good tour video. Nothing special, but you know, it's hard getting a five tour video, right? You know, it's a three fair, I think. I'm there with you, there's a three.
Otherwise, I'm given it a three point five. Yeah, that's fair, mate. That's fair, three point five for the flip boys. Because, you know, it's just a good, good vibes.
It's a good five video. Yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah, exactly.
You can watch it a couple of times and, you know, get it, you know, just get a little hype on, you know, just pick me up. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Well, let's, let's leave it there for the, for that, I think we've covered, you know, that was covered. You have a some video by Alkanto Yoshiyoko and flips and it's spanyo video.
Yep. Nice one. That's good videos guys. Definitely make sure you check them out.
Tune into the top of Australia next time.
