Maar Sierd is ook aan lager wal geraakt en was zwerver tijdens zijn politie opleiding. Zijn extreme gedrevenheid maakte hem ook een extreme atleet. Als 3e Nederlander ooit liep hij een marathon op de geografische Noordpool, ging solo op de fiets 6000km door Siberie.
