44. Finding Joy in the Journey: Even in Early-Onset Dementia Caregiving

from Living With EOD | Early-Onset Dementia, Caregiver Overwhelm, Abandonment, Respite Care · host Tonya Lynn Derrick | Biblical Mindset and Purpose Coach

As an early-onset dementia caregiver, it can feel almost impossible to imagine experiencing joy in the middle of the grief, uncertainty, exhaustion, and constant change that caregiving brings. But what if joy was never meant to come from your circumstances? What if true joy and peace are found in Christ alone? In this episode, we are talking about what it means to simply surviving this caregiving journey and begin walking in the peace, hope, and purpose that only Jesus can provide. Tonya Lynn shares how our identity is not found in burnout, fear, overwhelm, or the roles we carry, but in being daughters of the King and anchored in the truth of who God says He is. We discuss how God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and how nothing about your caregiving journey surprises Him. When we yoke ourselves to Christ instead of trying to carry everything in our own strength, our burdens become lighter because we were never meant to walk this road alone. This episode will encourage you to: • Find joy rooted in Christ instead of circumstances • Trust God’s character even when life feels uncertain • Re-anchor your identity in who Christ says you are • See caregiving as part of your calling and purpose • Learn how to surrender your burdens daily to Jesus • Stop living in survival mode and begin thriving spiritually Scriptures Mentioned Habakkuk 3:17–18 Isaiah 26:3 1 Peter 2:9 John 4:13–14 Colossians 3:23–24 Matthew 11:28–30 Connect with Tonya Lynn Join the Facebook community: Living with EOD: Biblical Solutions for Caregiver Burnout https://www.facebook.com/groups/836799308440926 Subscribe to the weekly newsletter, Hope on Repeat, for biblical encouragement, caregiver support, and practical faith-filled strategies delivered straight to your inbox each week. https://day2daywithtonyalynn.systeme.io/newsletter If this episode encouraged you, please take a moment to leave a review on Apple Podcasts and share this episode with another caregiver who may need hope and encouragement today.
