44. The Origins of Electronic Dance Music | History of EDM's Black Roots

In this week's episode, we celebrate Black History Month! I talk about the roots of electronic dance music (EDM) and how they tie back to African American roots. We discuss the origins founders of House music, Techno, and Dubstep that were all created by black men. Dj Frankie Knuckles, DJ, Ron Hardy, and Larry Levan created the genre house music in the 1970s. The Belleville Three is a group credited with inventing the musical style known as Detroit Techno. The group consists of Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson.
