44: Using Prevention Strategies to Help Families Thrive

If there's one major lesson we can learn from the COVID-19 pandemic, it's the stark structural inequities among communities of color and low-income families. Though public health and human services organizations have similar goals to close these gaps, there are lots of opportunities to improve collaboration in order to eliminate some of the root causes of disparities across the country. However, that is beginning to change as investments in prevention-based work continue to get buy-in from policymakers.  ASTHO and the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) are now in partnership to support the transformation of the child welfare system through a prevention first model.
