Il 29 settembre 1571 nasce a Milano Michelangelo Merisi, universalmente detto Caravaggio, pittore italiano considerato uno dei più celebri rappresentanti dell’arte occidentale di tutti i tempi. I suoi dipinti dimostrano un’eccezionale sensibilità nell’osservazione della condizione umana fisica ed emotiva, accentuata dalla grande fedeltà al modello dal vivo e dall’uso scenografico della luce, considerate al tempo caratteristiche rivoluzionarie in totale contrapposizione alla prassi accademica raffaellesca. Animo irrequieto, nella sua breve esistenza affrontò gravi vicissitudini. Condannato a morte come responsabile di un omicidio durante una rissa, dovette fuggire per il resto della sua vita per scampare alla pena capitale. Finì i suoi giorni a Porto Ercole il 18 luglio del 1610.Lo storico e archivista Riccardo Bassani, ricorda per Storiainpodcast il maestro, a 450 anni dalla nascita.
