When someone tells you their phone number by calling out all ten digits without pausing, you would probably ask them to repeat. But, if they had called out the same phone number, in three blocks, even if the pace of calling out the digits remained the same, it would be much easier for you to retain that information, and recall it later on. Such is the power of chunking. It is simple, but, it can be misunderstood and is often misused in design.
