#46 Dave Mckeown

from Treasure Vessels Hosted by Carolyn Burnette

To Britain again, but this time we got a glimpse of the beautiful English Channel and are thankful to Dave for giving us a peek of what he gets to look at every day! We were so pleased to have the opportunity to talk with the true SoundCloud legend, Dave McKeown today! Dave has a long history with music and has played since he was child and he plays many instruments including the sax, clarinet, flute, bagpipes, the piano and more! Music continues to be a big part of his everyday life and he told us in our interview with him today. His choice for discussion today was the topic of Chagall’s painting, “The Offering of Isaac.” Being very touched by this painting and how it brought much thought to him every time he stood in front of it and examined the work of Chagall made it an easy choice for his discussion topic today. Dave’s thoughts on this painting and how he tied it together with the feature tune, “New Day, by Cyra Morgan and the sound clip of Ethan McCord and then reciting the poem by Wilfred Owen, “The Parable of the Old Man and the Young.” A very thought-provoking discussion and we know you will enjoy listening to Dave on our interview with him today. So the two of them walked on together. 7 Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” 8 Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them walked on together. 9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 12 He said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” 13 Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. 14 Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the Lord it will be provided.” 15 Then the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven, 16 and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham lived at Beersheba. John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” I Corinthians 13:1 If I speak with tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}
