46. Peter Hancock - Swimming 3000 days in a row!

from The Stronger Stride Podcast · host Stronger Stride

Ep. 46 Peter Hancock - Swimming 3k days in a row! Peter Hancock is a marathon swimmer, ultra runner and environmental ecologist. Everyday, for over 3000 days now, Pete has gone for a swim. Living in Armidale, this means many icy mornings, in the dark with sub zero temperatures regularly over winter. What's even crazier is Pete never wears a wetsuit! We hear in detail about what it takes to endure the cold water, hypothermia considerations, cold water adaptability and marathon swimming logistics. We chat about mental toughness, consistency, endurance and community. Pete teaches us about the marine life he has seen over the years, night swimming and dangerous critters he has to watch out for.  Pete talks about his training leading up to some of his longest swims and what's next on the cards. Pete has been an active podcast listener and friend for almost a year now, so it was super special to have him on the show! We hope you enjoy hearing a slightly different perspective on endurance and grit. We feel the mental fortitude it takes to do what Pete does can be transferred across many different areas in life, and expect it may inspires you to take on a new challenge or push into uncharted territory.
