468: How to Meet Unmet Needs
from Brave Love Great Sex – Couples Therapy Podcast · host Cloud10
Welcome Foreplayers to another great episode in the 'School of Love.' We are staying with the emotional pursuer in this episode and asking them to reach deep. All to get the Hollywood ending you've dreamed about as the pursuer...getting your emotional needs met. The pursuer has discovered the unmet need below the protective move which is often anger or criticism and now it's their turn to share it with their re-engaged withdrawer. Our hosts provide a great role play where they not only identify the need but ask their partner for help here. This may sound like, "I feel unimportant here and I want to feel really important to you. Can you help me here?" These are the conversations that create secure relationships. If the negative cycle is the clashing of unmet needs then the positive cycle is unmet needs met. As you work towards this you will find that this space is much more organic, fulfilling and natural than the previous negative cycle. As Laurie says, "the molecules just all come together!" Therapists, if you're wanting to help your clients gain more security in their sexual relationship make sure you join us in Nashville in January for our next training.
