畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎原著冰（bīnɡ）“冰”字，是一个会意字，本义是水冻结后形成的状态。甲骨文的“冰”字，就像是寒冬时分，窗外水汽所凝结成的冰凌。金文与甲骨文类似，不过字形变得更大，表示水凝结成冰后，体积增大表面凸出，显示出拱形的样子。小篆的“冰”字，发生了较大的变化，在原有字形的基础上，在右侧又加入了一个“水”字，代表冰是由水凝固而成的。“冰”字引申为“洁白”之义，如“冰清玉洁”，比喻人高尚、纯洁。（寒冬时水遇冷而凝，成了凸起的冰块。）
