472: How does God feel about me? | Matthew 18:12

from One Verse Devotional · host Matt McCarrrick

How does God feel about me? This is a question many of us have wrestled with at some point. Honestly, we'll probably need to answer this question a few times in life. It's natural for us to wonder where we stand with God. This question becomes even more real after we mess up or make a mistake in life. Fortunately, this is a question that Jesus has already answered. In Matthew 18, Jesus shares a parable of a shepherd with a lost sheep. The sheep has wandered away. It's not where it is supposed to be. The shepherd has 99 other sheep, so what does he do? How does he feel about this sheep? Does he cut his loses and focus on the safe sheep? No! He risks his life to find the lost sheep. And Jesus adds, "if he finds it… he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off." Even if you have messed up in your past, Jesus hasn't given up on you. He is pursuing you and will rejoice once you are back home.
