#472 There are no shortcuts...only 2nd times around

from What’s Your Problem? with Marsh Buice · host Marsh Buice

People look at the money I earn in sales & think “I want to do that!” but they only see the results of a story that has taken me 22 years to write... & I’m still writing it. Your elders will tell you there are no shortcuts in life, yet we’re always trying to find the quickest way to be successful yet spared of the pain. The story of how it’s done is the shortcut...but how your story of how it is written requires the long road. That’s why I say, “There are no shortcuts but there are second times around.” The first laps you fail, but each lap thereafter is tighter & more efficient & produces gradual improvements. My sales career has taken me a 22yrs of the long road.. My bankruptcy took me 11 years to recover... Weight loss can be had in a pill...but a healthier lifestyle requires the long road. To my regret I spared my son of the pain of growing up & created shortcuts for him to skip through...but what I didn’t consider is one day he’d too become a man & he wasn’t prepared for the struggles & consequences. Today’s TSL helped me realize that as bad as I want the shortcuts in life, the long road is what is required to build lasting success. Link to the 15 min episode in comments below.
