#48: How To Keep Your Relationship Strong Throughout Military Life

from Love Shack Live: Helping Couples Rescue Their Relationships · host Staci Bartley

Send us Fan MailThis week, days away from the 20th anniversary of September 11th, we are honoring the many couples that sacrifice so much day in and day out by serving in our military.  The impact and sacrifices that military members and their families make are huge. Typically as one person is training or deployed, the other is keeping the home and family together. Couples and families can go weeks if not months without hearing the voice of their loved one, oftentimes without the reassurance of knowing they are safe. A challenge that is hard to comprehend unless you’ve experienced it. All while having to deal with all the day-to-day stuff we already know can be daunting enough at the same time as navigating missing and worrying about the safety partner. In the Love Shack this week, we’re honored to have special guest Veronica Williams. Veronica has been a military wife for more than 20 years to her husband Darrell of 30 years while he traveled as an Operations and Vice Presidential Communications Officer, leading over 500 White House missions. Following the tragedies of September 11, 2001, Darrell was selected as 1 of 5 key leaders, from 30 senior managers, to direct emergency action communications for the Vice President of the United States, to include duties as an Air Force Two Command Representative. In this episode, we're covering several key topics about the most common forms of betrayal (outside of cheating) that destroy our relationships, including:How Veronica kept it together for so long while her husband was serving our country. How Veronica and Darrell came out on the other side of their experiences with a relationship that is better and stronger than ever. The key factors that made having a strong relationship throughout their years of navigating the military lifestyle possible for Veronica and Darrell. The special inspiration Veronica has for military spouses/partners right now with all that is currently happening in our world. This is a conversation that is sure to bring inspiration and empowerment for us all.Have questions about love and relationships or being a military spouse? Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
