And now coming at ya from Yellowknife Canada from one of our living rooms, we're talking movies and sometimes TV shows with spoilers included folks Is it is our chair to use wait is that is that based off like the armchair quarterback of saying is that right? Chris we spoke about this for are you sure? Yes? What's positive though you wrote the joke?

Oh god damn it. All right, you're right. I'm featuring Chris got it and James What guy? Oh hello?

Oh hi hello? Welcome back everyone to another episode episode I'm a who? I'm a what we could edit it but fuck editing episode of armchair views my name's Chris and I'm James and this is episode 48 I don't like keeping track of the numbers, but it's fun for me. It's fun for everyone.

Yeah Yeah, that's what we've told like I wouldn't listen to your show if you didn't keep the numbers No, that's easily how do I know which one came first check in or the egg? Yeah, that is the question episode one episode 48 the podcast or Producer No answer Okay, how about the other question for you serious question serious face. Okay listening are you listening are you listening? Are you listening?

I'm pointing at you. Do you like war movies? Yes? Do you like zombie movies?

Yes? I don't know I haven't seen it. I mean either. There is one I'm gonna say yes good.

I like it. I like it I go wrong well then to I have something for you. We got 2018's overlord. Duh-duh-duh-duh.

Okay cool. We were talking about this for a while now Yeah, we've been seeing trailers for a couple months. Yes trailers. Yes.

We're good. They were trailers were actually intense Yeah, like a circus tent inside of a tent and an actual trailer. Yeah Yeah, I'm not like a movie. No, no.

No, no that's it's a semi truck. Yeah. It's a tent in a tent. Yeah intense.

Yeah, great God damn it's so stupid. It's so funny. Yeah, no week. So this one was pretty I was looking forward to it I look just fucking whacky I wasn't had my high hopes that this is gonna win any fucking wars or anything like that But I was looking forward to it's fun.

It look like schluck schluck that I just wanted to fucking watch and just be amazed by all this Stupid goryness and dumb plot and Justin. It's like the mex you know Fun man. I just wouldn't see the mex you saw this in mex. It's fun.

I was stupid It's so fucking dumb dude even Devin was like it's stupid. Oh, it's so good. That's coming from Devin Devin stupid Oh my god. I'm an idiot.

Rose-ed an idiot. He's not even here to defend himself. God. Ha ha!

We got you. He was gonna come with us to Overlord and then I was like, yeah, we're going at 9.50 p.m. Because I was only showing. Oh, that's too late for me.

Well, he had eaten his early bird special like five hours before that so God damn it. He was just stupid. He was tuckered out. He was coming to last week.

He was pretty weird. Trying to get him on the show He's just like, I do not want to do that. He just likes the company. Yeah.

He should come on the show. Yeah, we got opening. Oh, come on here once twice. Yeah, he's been in the background.

Yeah, after you come on once you'll get it. You'll get it. You know, essentially you're just gonna So here we're gonna make money and you might bring into the table and we're gonna chill on it. Probably.

You know what's actually on the show again? Tyler. Tyler. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, but this week is pretty scary. Scared of Overlord. Yeah, he doesn't understand.

He doesn't like Ormese. I don't know. We'll play that out. He was so scared.

He was so scared. He tried to invite him. He's like, no, no, don't even mention Ormese. Don't even breathe over.

World War two is a bad time for my family. Take that as you will. That was his answer. That was his answer.

Yeah. He gets flashlights. He was there. That's what's wrong with him.

Okay. Yes. Traumatizing. He's got the injections.

Needles do scare the fuck out of people sometimes. They do. Yeah. If you're a little bitch.

So yes. So obviously Overlord wasn't his cup tea. So he's if Creed two, which I think is still gonna be in next week. You'll want him to jump on on that.

I guess we should know by now if it's gonna be your next week. Yeah, I checked. Usually they tell us today. It's the day before Friday.

So I think they're just removing movies and not having anything new and Creed two will say it. Overlord's getting booted. It's only here for a week. We got in just in time.

We got it in. Otherwise, we probably be doing great right now. Probably. And that's probably about movie.

It's probably a better movie, but is it gonna be more fun than Overlord? Probably not. There you go. Probably not.

Overlord's anyway. Yeah. So the Meg though. Let's go back that.

Go see that. No, it's not really on to see it. Watch TV. Yeah, I don't know where Devin watched it.

Must be even my Netflix. No, that's all. It's not an Netflix. It's all.

It's all. It's too stupid to do. It's not a time. He's just got up zero.

He has never just score cards. The two judges. Zero. The third guy.

Classic Devin. He might actually listen to the stupid guy. He's going to get roasted for 10 minutes and he's gonna be like, I'm gonna hit you guys. Like the show's also gonna be joy.

It used to give me joy and laughter. You used to appreciate everything you guys said. That's on your podcast. Just sitting on Devin.

Yeah. We're not doing a movie review today. He's doing a Devin review. Good guy.

Stupid. Really? Really good guy. Means really well.

How long are we gonna go on this bit? Just fucking erasing him. We went from- Oh, the Meg is pretty fun though. But fuck Devin.

Everyone listening. Everyone listening. Everyone listening. Who the hell is this Devin guy?

Yeah, you'll find it. We'll get him on the show. Yeah, we'll get him on the show. We're just coaxing him out.

We're all fading him. We're getting him. We're good. We're masturbating.

It was there. All right. So, overall, we're going to get to the meat and potatoes of this. We're gonna make beef stew?HEY COOL.

I ain't cool. on your meat and potatoes on your crock in the crock in the top of it. On it. You're doing it.

checks on a Devon case, we don't. I don't think anybody does. No. OK, war movies.

War movies, zombie war movie. The other movie is zombie war movies that I'm aware of. It's called Dead Snow. It actually is like Nazi zombies.

Is it? Yeah. But this one, seeing this movie come out, all I could. We actually talked about this a while ago, if you remember.

If you recall, probably like, do you know where we talked about this? I'll give you hints. It starts with Cloverfield. No, that's it.

It's Cloverfield. Because we were talking about this when we did the back to back on where we did the Cloverfield paradox on Netflix. This overlord movie was rumored to be a Cloverfield movie. Yeah, it's right.

Because it was G.J. Abrams produced his bad robot productions and was doing the whole movie. So that's where we talk about the mission. We're all, oh, fuck sick.

That could be cool. That could be a neat little twist. And especially since it's going to be a set of different era. That'd be pretty neat.

Kind of glad it's something though. I'm super glad because now they can take this and make its own thing if they want to. Especially since Cloverfield paradox. Cloverfield paradox was talking terrible.

Cool bodyguard, remember that. Cool one scene. That's it. That's it.

Cool bodyguard. Cool bodyguard, was better than that movie. Everything. Yeah, I know.

What were you saying about it? Oh, yeah. Okay, it's Cloverfield. Yeah, but we're happy it's something.

Yeah. But since I saw this, I mean, it's own thing, but let's be serious. It's getting all of its whatever it's based on Wolfenstein, Nazi zombies, cod, like all duty, and then what else? There's another thing that kind of mixed it all in there.

I don't know. I was fucking thinking of any monster match movie for Christ's sake. Fuck. But mainly Wolfenstein, Nazi zombies.

And then it mixed in with fucking save and private rhyming for Christ's sake. Because that first scene? That's a great series, dude. Yeah.

Yeah, the first scene's fucking intense actually. Not inside tense. Not intense, but actually intensely. Intense, like the feeling.

Yes, the feeling. The emotion. It's very good. It's such a good scene.

You have all these war movies and stuff like that. You can try to get that feeling. And it has that emotion. We have all the stereotypes, archetypes of who these people are.

You have the nervous soldier who is our main character. I think what his name is? What his name is? Jovan or something?

Boyes is his character's name. Boyes is a Jovan. Yeah. Jovan, Adebo.

He plays Boyes. He's our main character. It was so funny because every time I heard his name Boyes, all I heard was my buddies. And he was going, Boyes!

Boyes! Boyes! And then I said, Boyes! Boyes!

Boyes! What the boys at? Yeah. Fuck.

It's a stupid classic guy. But he's the rookie. Kind of nervous and scared. I think they all are in the plane.

Because it sounds like they just went to training together. Well, it's really good. He's scared, right? He's so, and the other guys are like, fuck it.

Four. Skill knocks. That's what I'm trying to. I know they're all new.

He's the nervous one. He's obviously the main character and stuff. So he's scared. He has the grizzle corporal who takes over the sergeant role.

Because the sergeant gets fucking worked. He's the sergeant. You got the corporal from another unit who just got put with this unit from his mission. Nobody really knows him.

He's about him. You may know from fucking 22 Jump Street. Zook! The quarterback.

The really dumb court like a chain of data. White Russell. White Russell, yeah. The son of Golihan and Kurt Russell.

Kurt Russell, yes. He's also in a really good episode of Black Mirror. Yeah, he's fucking good. It's pretty fucked up.

It's like when you have something put in your head and it's all ultimate reality. It's fucked up episode. He's really good at it. I definitely recommend that.

He's been there. He also did a Walking Dead short. He was in the Walking Dead, but there were some webisodes I just found out. He was in one of them.

He's in one of them. He's pretty good. I enjoy him. He's also in Goon.

He's a good hockey player too. He played something like Junior Triple A. He was on WHL or something. In the WHL?

Is that what it's like? No. That's what Western hockey is. I don't know.

He's in the WHL. I was looking up some facts about this and I read that up because he was going to go places with that. That's cool. Anyways.

He's a typical New Yorker Brooklyn Italian guy that's full of machismo. He's a bit of an asshole. He got a mouth on him. He's a mouthpiece.

He's a fucking smack. He's got a good heart, man. He's got a good heart. He's in the right place.

You have your photographer. Yeah. And then you have your Jew. You have a Jew and we're all in two.

That's not racist. That's just a fact in these movies. He makes no hope. I don't get captured because you know what they'll do to me there.

A guy named Rosenberg or something. He has nothing in the movie by the way too. He gets captured. He gets rescued.

He does nothing. But boys. He's paired with the. Yeah.

Yeah. I'm shooting at two person. Okay. That's his highlight of his entire movie.

Two person. Come on, man. I'm going back and forth these impressions. But yeah.

So you have the squad and then all of a sudden it's hard core World War II. The plane is getting shot at. The day before D-Day. I think.

Yeah. That's right. They're on their way to do it. The mission is to go and destroy a radio tower.

I think it is D-Day. No, it's a day before. And then it becomes a day. Okay.

So they need to get the radio tower destroyed by 6am on D-Day because that's when they're going to to store on the beach and they want them to have no communications. Like they want the Germans to have no communications. So fuck. If you will.

Yeah. So essentially they send these people in early via plane, paratroopers or whatever. Yeah. And their goal is to go blow up the tower.

Good kill. Good kill. So you paratroopers call them in. Super discreet.

And yeah. The day before. So like they just flash the date. It's going to bug me now.

They're carving it into a wall. Oh yeah. It's carving it into the inside of the plane. Yeah.

But yeah. It's a day before D-Day. They're firing it. They're firing it.

Yeah. They're actually like stun guys like the actual inside of the plane and like tilting it all over the place and I had stun guys actually roll through actual fire. No one they're getting sucked out because the front of the plane is blown off or something. Yeah.

So there's no diving pretty much. And they're trying to jump at the actual point. Oh, that was a good scene. That's a war movie scene.

Yeah. It's right out of a single war. It's stiff and thick. It would fit in perfectly well.

And then when the boys, boys, boys gets tossed out. Like that's just fucking crazy. He has chopped out. It's a pretty cool perspective of how he's like just flipping.

He doesn't know what's going on. But I like that scene and it's just kind of your butthole client is a little bit kind of like terrifying. It's just a game of luck at that point. Yeah.

I don't know if I'm going to lie. And essentially like his parachute went out so late. Like he hit the water. He hit round like he's probably fucking shattering legs.

Like he's pretty much like parachute water. Yeah. He should have like honestly his fucking legs. He's dumb.

Yeah. He would be able to. He'd drop. He's no way.

There's no way. My fucking buddy Shane. He's a fucking parachute. He does this shit.

He's getting his wings for Christ sake. He broke his fucking ankle because everyone did. And then he guess what he did. So he wouldn't fail.

He went up hit it. Then he broke his ankle. He was like, fuck. It was small and it was bloomed up.

And that was like a good jump. It wasn't a shit like this guy. He should just be like his fibula should be through his shoulder blades right now. If you landed on the ground.

You're going that fast at water dude. Water's just fucking concrete. For sure. But there's like a difference when the water's being broken.

It's just like flat water. I guess it's probably going to be like bodies and shit and plane. But still I'm not broken. He's still broken.

Fuck. Yeah. Now throwing realism outside of his Nazi's on the movie. I'm just saying that fucking fucking fucking.

Walk away with a limp or something. Even the whole movie dude. Was it? I don't know.

That'd be nice little touch though. But there's other bones breaking out of skin and stuff so we can talk about that later on. So we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we get, we remember if we get people there listening to the show and they're terrified of like vomit sounds. They're not really.

Okay enough driving. Poor people. So yeah, we get there and every territory at this point. In France.

Not too occupied. France. Now before we go on a summary here. What did you like the most about this film?

Um. Don't think too hard. I just saw the action in general. I just like the pace.

Yeah. I just constant pace. Which I like because it never doesn't seem to slow down even like the slow down points. Like when I get to the house.

Like the French. Yeah. Ladies, just Matilda. I think that might actually be the actress or something.

Yeah Matilda, Olivier is her name. Clearly. The character's name is Chloe. Okay.

Yeah anyway, they get the house. And even that scene like it's fucking tense because you have like the German officer and stuff. Yeah. They obviously made some sort of pact where it's like I won't hurt you or the rest of your family if you just fuck.

And I just touched my dick. Yeah. And I thought it was an odd move because he doesn't go for the straight rape. No.

I was trying to please her first. Proposition sir. Well, well no, he'd be full down just to do a chow down. Yeah.

Which I was like, what a mod dude. Not move. I should say. I mean before that he must have been like, well, here's the deal.

Oh yeah, definitely to them prior. Yeah. Right. No, he like this has happened before.

You know, she's not the first time. Yeah, yeah. But then you have like, you know, Sir Charming here, Mr. Charming.

Boy, boys. Comes in to save the day. Yeah. I always, I don't know.

I guess there was a little bit of a romance thing between them. But it's like why? Boy, you say. Yeah.

Oh yeah, I know. In this type of movie is natural. Is it though? Like he really, really liked her.

Like the minute he saw her. Like I love you. Well, is that full on Charming? He's safe.

Yeah, he doesn't want to be there. He's a good old boy. He's trying to get that pussy. She's like, what's right?

That pussy. Okay. Okay. Okay.

He is like essentially, he's like, oh yeah. Well, you know. And he just tries to protect the rest of the fucking. He's trying to get it in.

Yeah. Yeah. I guess. But like you do the same.

What I know. Would you not try to get it in? I'm like, if I knew it was going to die, I guess. Not see occupied France.

You're with like three other Americans fighting against the Germans. But like this is like this time sensitive. I can be like, can I get an email? Can I get some?

No, you know, you're going to get your address. Do you still have an address? I'm going to get blown off. You'll be in it on 30 seconds.

That's generous. Thank you so much. All I'm saying. Classic.

It wouldn't take long. It wouldn't take long. Yeah, a little bit of downtime. They're counting their time.

Do you think she's emotionally available? She's got been getting raped all the time. Maybe she is into that. I something's telling me I don't think something's not great.

The nice charming United States. That's invading her. But he's there to save her. He's not there to invade her.

He's not there to invade her. He's not there to invade the country. Fucking gross. I'm saying is he's trying to smash.

We're silly to that. They don't like, shout out. This is a love story. He cares.

It's a far cry from us. They're trying to give some people something to relate to the enemy. Like yeah, it's not just fucking Nazis and zombies. It's a cute, blonde French girl that he wants to smash.

Yeah. Alright. Alright. Now you're saying Nazis, zombies.

I feel like they could have had more Nazis, zombies. We talked about this previously too. Before recording. We did.

Yeah. After the post-watching movie before recording, we were kind of like, well, you only really see a few of them in action. You know what I mean? It's true.

We'd rather have them fighting more Nazis, zombies than actual Nazis. Or just like, not even necessarily the zombies per se, but creatures. Like fucking scientific. Yeah.

Fucking Toy Story had more mutants in it than this fucking movie. Like it's just me and it's picky. But show me, like when they first are in the forest and they see a dog or like whatever the animal, the skull, right? And they're like, oh, this is a normal.

I for sure thought that we were going to see them being attacked by like these fucking weird ass mutated dogs. Yeah. You know what I mean? I thought actually there was going to be, since Chloe's aunt, like her parents I think probably got married straight up.

One who'd serve it. Her aunt got fucking juice to the gills with some stuff. Wait. Some of these like the designs I think.

It reminds me of, have you seen the six James Gunn movies slither? Yes. It kind of reminds me of that a little bit. Like the boils all over the boils and stuff like that.

It reminds me something else and I can't think of it. I think it's like one of the kind of like zombie creatures from like Left or Dead. Okay. They kind of remind me that if you're played.

Yeah. We talk about that. It's like a wild go to. Yeah.

But same thing. Like just the boils and like when is it chase that gets shot and then they inject them with the stuff and then like he does his own body gore thing. Like the way that he's like moving around just kind of reminded me exactly of how one of the creatures in Left or Dead kind of created himself. He will have to.

Ian, who plays chase. He's on A to the Shield at Marvel TV show. He's actually he's the one that he's a photographer. He is this.

That scene was really good actually. I'm like here. I don't know what this is. But I'm going to inject him.

But you're dead. So get getting worse. YOLO. You actually what would it be?

YOLT. You only live twice. In this case. In this case.

If it works. YOLT. That's good of a fucking ring as a YOLO. No.

Hashtag YOLT. That's what we're going to fucking. Hashtag YOLT. YOLT.

You only live twice. That's not that. It's pretty basic plot now. I'm thinking of it.

Yeah. So essentially we already touched on it. But excuse well enough. American military.

Today for D-Day. They're flying in. They're already to destroy. They get to the radio tower.

When he gets in today. That's the spot. When voice gets into that radio tower. They don't know about all this scientific shit that's going on there until they get there.

And only one of them knows. It's voice because he gets. Oh, yes. He sees people getting burnt alive.

Like torch. Yeah. Because before he kind of accidentally gets. He gets to his body.

Yeah. Because before he accidentally gets in there. Like you're exposed to Chloe's aunt that she's. Obviously all fucked up.

But Chloe's just like, oh she's sick. She's sick. She's a little more fucking sick than that. Yeah.

She doesn't really let them. Like she doesn't feel the man that there's like some crazy scientific shit going on next door at the fucking church. I love it. I love it.

I'm like these zombie type movies. They never want to admit that that person's totally fucked. Like oh they're just sick. They're covering up the zombie.

It's totally infected. It's falling off. She's just sick. She's sick.

She's sick. She's sick. She's sick. She's sick.

Ah fucking hell. Oh no! So voice gets in and sees all these. It's really cool cause it's like this Bloody Northern UNHCR.

And they're basically selling a church if he will Then trying to find this Greeter is like crazy. duplicate says it's shit was supposed to be chat. He's like talking to Ghastard Around me. Just all of them know crewways.

It's fine. Um, when the- when the- when the- when the- when the one head pops out of that bag. Oh, like when he unzipped it in. Yeah, it is- it's just a reminder of uh, south park spoofing alien...

Four or something, that's a reaction. It's just like the clones are ripply, just- Kill me! Kill me! Ha ha ha!

It's so fucking gross. And that's where he- that's where he finds Chase. No! No, no, no.

It's- cause he- he- what- what the fuck? That's where he finds Chase. No, he finds a fucking- No, that's- that's- that's- Rosenfeld or whatever. Oh yeah, fucking- what's his first name?

I don't know, fucking- what's his Jewish name? Sean. Fuck, uh, he doesn't have a first name, it's just Rosenfeld. It's literally just- He's real name is Abba White.

Dominic Abba White. Yeah, so that's- Okay, so that's what he finds the most about. Sorry, not Chase. And that was a cool scene.

And while he's pulling out this suction thing, it just- Sown on it. Yeah, it's Sown on it. I first thought that was gonna be a gaping hole into his stomach. Me too.

Rather than I was just gonna be like rrrr- Fuck him. Ripped off, but yeah, it's essentially just a giant ass needle. He'll just pump and stuff and pump and stuff and do this fucking sound like whatever. Just fucking gut.

Get it. His burger locker. Fuck. Yeah, so he picks up on him and he ends up saving him from there.

I guess that's the point of that scene I guess. But he also takes- And he takes a serum, which is a bold move because it's not like- It's literally just in his giant ass needle. He takes it in his fucking- Yeah, cargo pocket in his hands. We both look to each other like- Fucking risky.

It's a bold move. He's full-blown aids in that. Yeah, and you're like running around. Oh, really, nilly?

But the fucking needle is chilling your pocket. You easily stab yourself with that shit. Easily. Congratulations.

You got the hiv. Yeah, okay. Y'all touched it, y'all. Oh, fuck.

Yeah, it gets back anyway. That's- You had a whole scene with the German officer coming and like, kind of shit and they capture him or whatever. People that we fuck out of him, he had a good scene there. I like the scenes with White Russell and the German guy.

Oh, yeah. He's playing off each other because they're pretty much the same character. Very similar, yeah. They're both fucking hardcore.

Yeah, they're both fucking hardcore. Just ones into the occult and one guy is just a grizzled war bet that fucking hates Nazis. Essentially. And that's where it juggles back and forth between- Oh, it has some, like I said, occult items where you see hints and like the build up to like that supernatural element of the movie.

But then it brings you back into that war drama where it's like, yeah, not everyone agrees with him beating the fuck out of this German officer, but war is war. Yeah. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. So I think it does balance the two genres together because it flips back and forth and then right at the end is when they mesh- Like they fully mesh.

Yeah. Where it's kind of- It really is chaotic and stuff like that. So that's pretty- I like that. It's hard to- I would imagine that would be hard to do and like keep the tone the way it is about being fucking silly.

Yeah. Yeah. Without being silly or going like too serious and trying to bring in like these fucking meat-headed humans. Yeah.

You know what I mean? Yeah. It's a silly movie. It's a horror, but it's silly.

You know what I mean? So this one, I think they're trying to play it more straight, but it has a silly horror to it as well. But it's still- It's on that fine ledge where it works. Where it works still as that dramatic action horror rather than horror action comedy.

You know what I mean? Because I think- I think- I think- I think- I think. And it played well. I wouldn't mind seeing a second one of this.
