#49 Yvonne Marie [Kill the Busy]

from Girls Talking Life · host Yohonna Smith

Are you busy with a never-ending to do list? Is your mental busyness too loud in your head? Yvonne Marie sits downs with me for a conversation about killing the busy (physical or mental) and saving and the bee (you) by being still and knowing that God is in control. Yvonne tells us that being still is more than quiet reflection or rest, it's actually about surrender. She gives practical ways to kill the busy in our lives and explains that by doing that, we can actually become more productive. Yvonne compares bees and their work in the hive to followers of Jesus and their work for the kingdom of God. She talks about solitude and how we can go about finding it. Yvonne and I talk about cultivating a deeper relationship with God and how you know when you're hearing his voice. Yvonne shares how she connects what she's learning about God in her head to how she feels about him in her heart through studying, journaling and prayer. Yvonne Marie, M.Ed. is an author, artist, poet, and teacher. She has spent most of her adult life serving in Christian ministries such as worship, discipleship, leadership, and women's ministries. She works as an associate professor teaching freshmen college students the joy of composing a valid, worthy, and credible argument. Yvonne Marie is married to a very handsome and highly skilled photographer and they have two remarkable sons.   MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Kill the Busy Save the Bee: What it Really Means to Be Still and Know Psalm 46:10 – Be still, and know that I am God.
