Hobbes (see episode 487) believed that the life of man in the state of nature is so horrible that no matter how bad the sovereign is, he's better off under the sovereign than not. Anarchists take the opposite view -- that men can and do cooperate, and we don't need rulers to oppose their coercive authority on us.
