A message from Enbridge Gas. This is the place where sports abuse is a lot dead and sports. I'm your host, Kenneth B. Angel.
I'm coming at you. Once again this week, as usual, we got a busy folk party. What up, what's good? What's good?
Nick from the No Disrespect podcast. What up, Nick? Mr. Disrespect.
You know what I'm saying? I'm going to say I got to change my name. I got to do like Kanye. And of course that's V4.
You already know. Yeah, man. So yeah, like before we started recording, Nick got a taste of what it's like. He just threw me to the wolves.
That wasn't me. That wasn't me. I didn't do it. I didn't do it.
I didn't do it. Somebody was asking for me because I made a, I think because of that Fitzpatrick decision about how James is now the starter. Somebody was like, hey, where can I get about this? Oh, I can't.
I can't get him up. Just, he just threw it right out there. And all you did was just. Okay.
Hey, welcome to our world. Right. I'm here for it. Yeah, but yeah, man.
I guess I guess we can briefly start there. We don't have to spend much time, but you know, you talk about Mr. Fitzpatrick. Is the magic over the magic over the man?
You think the magic over? I said, I think it was too premature still. I think you should get over there. I think you should get over there.
One more game. I said, you should get one more game. I said, you should get one more game. Listen, listen.
Listen, listen. That first half like, people tried to be slick talking about two and a half, good quarters. That first half, that was the sign. That was the cough.
I agree with you. That last game, he got the cold. He got the flu. It's over.
Do you think James would have done better against that defense? I'll put it to you like this, where Fitzpatrick struggles. What we know of the real Fitzpatrick, because we saw Fitzpatrick, that's a whole different dude. Yeah, that's a whole different dude.
Fitzpatrick is better than James. Fitzpatrick is the weird near James. So I think me and Ken kind of knew, and BC2 even though BC didn't necessarily articulate it, but we knew that Fitzpatrick was closer to Fitzpatrick as the weeks continue to go on. And that's why I said keep him on the short leash.
And I kind of sided with you, Nick. You got to ride the hot hand. But once he starts messing up, we know what he is. Why give him another week?
We know if it's Patrick is here. We're not talking about a young quarterback that maybe got a raw deal. Maybe didn't have the right system, the right head coach, the right organization. And then all of a sudden he finds a place now where they're cutting them and then boom, he's blossoming.
That's not the case. We know if it's Patrick is. And I think that regardless of the professional sport that we're talking about, there's people who hit their ceilings because they have low ceilings. Fitzpatrick had a low ceiling.
He's maximizes talent and fits magic is over. Just like when Sammy was over. It happens. People get on a hot streak.
You ride it. And then when it's done, everything is back to normal. We're back to normal. James is the starter.
And I think he just did what a backup quarterback is supposed to do. Go in. Usually a backup quarterback. In the 16-game season, a backup quarterback at least gave you about three to four games.
Maybe. If they have to come in. And he did it. Would they three in two now?
Two and two. Two and two. So the first four games of the season, they start off on the road at the Saints. They have two home games against the Eagles and the Steelers.
This is the early Eagles. We didn't know what they were going to do. They came off Atlanta. And then they just faced the Bears on the road.
Cleo Mack was going. Those four games that you had, Ryan's, Patrick, started going into the season. You were thinking they were going to be on four. I think people thought they could probably at least get two.
I was going one in three. I was going to say at least two against those teams. The Saints coming off. The season they had with the Eagles coming off.
That was the best case. The Steelers, the Bears, it's like, okay, one in three. I gave you that for the Bears. I thought the Bears were going to be good.
So the fact that he went two or two against the Saints and the Eagles, both NFC title champion. Back quarter back, you did a great job. You catch them early. Just the first week.
I'm saying for those four games, that's the reason why I said it. Give them one more. If you see what he is, but you keep saying let's see what he is. We've known him about as far as the flame.
No, no, no, no, no. I think Cleo Mack humbled him quick. He's the new at all season. But Fitzpatrick even said it himself.
He said that he told his dad, either I got to win the Super Bowl or James is going to be starting or I'll be back on the bench or something like that. Like he said, he knew he needed to be Fitzpatrick the whole year. No drop off. So for these next four games, which is against the Falcons the Browns Knowing what we see from his offense from what this magic Fitzpatrick now has done What do we see from James because the Falcons defense is horrendous rounds is to the Browns the banals defense They know the whole so toss out the first two games where he's throwing maybe even the first three ways to offer 400 They're not gonna do that every game.
This is not a high-octane offense. I just Well, here's the thing though. Can they do have weapons to be in the upper echelon of offenses in the league? I don't think that they're a mediocre Yeah, I think that they should average about that's going to fail Present day I know it's going to put up like Johnny I mean Baker may feel just put up 45 Yeah, but we don't have as many weapons as they do the bug when I think hi our team office I think no one I think Breeze.
I think the Falcons office is showing themselves The Rams the cheese of course the Eagles one healthy You mean to tell me that a quarterback goes for 400 some of y'all's fight touches I was just an All the accolades that he's gotten in the first couple weeks and you don't see it against porous defenses regardless They still got to get the yard you still have to execute and I think I'm seeing it now I'm right for you a little bit. I go the point that's being made is that James is supposed to be an upgrade to Fitzpatrick, right? No, James is the franchise quarterback, but I'm saying but that's the up comparing Up-side is a upgrade to Fitzpatrick as a quarterback. Yeah, you better than Fitzpatrick on his worst day 1000% now now They should be able to sustain some of that maybe again, it's magic was incredibly hot.
You can't recreate right That's not normal Okay, that's playing on all cylinders However, James is playing on all cylinders or playing normally should be more than Fitzpatrick not say not fits magic Not the full-handed before games and all of that but but James should be 250 to 280 on average every game So so with that being said if you can get that amount of yards You can keep the turnovers down one or two touchdowns a game They should be in the in the load of mid 20s that it's I mean that's upper echelon offense That is the pressure that James is under because if its magic showed that hey this team got guys And I don't think it's sustainable at you know score 35 40 points again That's not sustainable for that squad however, they should be in the mid 20s to lower They should be able to put numbers on the board consistent. Yeah, and now here's the thing though They just lost OJ Howard. They don't have a running game. I'm it that you didn't have one early either I know that but they had OJ Howard.
I understand however look moving forward with James taking over the helm We can't if he makes mistakes early. We can't get on him. He hasn't had no preseason He you know like this is his first game So to me give James two weeks before we write him off and then there's a quarterback country You already know people looking to write him off. Of course.
I'm with you I think he needs to you know, I mean he's still going he's still developing So, you know and he's being evaluated by the books In terms of what they're gonna do with him next year, but you know this is you know This is why I was like don't even start a next week or last week. James is the quarterback. He's the franchise let him play So but yeah, cuz you want to avoid Khalil Mack. That's what you want.
No, I don't want him to play against the little Mac Don't run from the competition, you know This guy he played against what? But you know, we'll see what happens man, but at least the settle is over is done You got you I know you this you woke up happy as hell when you found out that James is back in the Oh, I look at the box where saw James got in I was like, oh, yeah, there wasn't I didn't need to look up I mean need to need an announcement cutter. You're just like, yeah James gonna be alone and I am kind of like man I'm on borrowed time. So they find out that that what was it?
Love you Smith? That's that fire was probably one of the worst fire in the last that and Caldwell probably last five ten years. Yep Bro coaches to tell you and yeah, anyway I think it's over for your boy. Todd Bose.
Why is it? I personally think he still needs like Office of talent in terms of receivers tighten running back everything basically. Yeah, yeah the quarterback But right they don't have any weapons, but depending on what you're telling that to they do But anyway, child of the many he thinks they do. I'm like no, they don't but nevertheless He's a jet span so he's in his feelings about all of it.
He's been called for top bowls to get fired I'm like top bowls don't have anything like but now you got the quarterback But the thing with Todd Bose and this what I told me and I said watch out for this watch the headlines the headlines will tell you everything you need to know And if they start questioning Todd Bose and praising darlin is a wrap and that is what they're doing The headlines will tell you the story and the thing about it is that was frustrating me a little bit more with him Is that what are they doing with with Baker Mayfield and Cleveland? He chucked it all up and down the field I think they even letting Josh throw it a little bit. He just can't throw it But Bose has Sam darlin who's supposed to be the number one quarterback and they're not there They have they have him handcuffed. He's not even throwing down a field so they need to see what this boy can do Do you think that's more Todd Bose or is it more what that roster looks like?
The composition of that roster like everybody wants to push the the ball down field However, it takes the roster to do that you need guys that can execute that level of offense They don't have that and they don't even have a real run threat to be able to play action that thing to get it open Like they like I feel like they're just against the hill right now What what what this job needs to be is to get Sam darlin is as much experience as possible Throw as much as you can on his plate that he can eat and digest and go out there regurgitated on the field And just chalk this up as gonna be a probably maybe 500 But more than likely losing season you go get you in high draft picks Hopefully you make some good draft picks next year and you come back retooled with a more experienced quarterback with some possible way They have a good line. Do we have a line? They don't have nothing. They don't have anything.
They have a decent defense. That's about it They got to go out the offensive line in the end of this next draft. Well for me I do everything for me I think that what what Todd Bose going used to be is like four to five wins If he can do four to five wins with rookie quarterback, you got five wins with Josh McConnell whoever you got back Yeah, but this is different though because he's the young like you have to The reason why I'm shocked that you said Todd Bose on hot seats because they drafted a rookie quarterback Usually that gives like look at bill o'brien. That gives him a leads again to three 83 years, you know depending on how it should Especially watching out hurts, but this is a great white hope with a black defensive coach But he's shown you that with even with mediocre talent.
He'll get you I agree with that I don't think he should be on the hot seat, but I feel but let me ask you this though Do you think that if you can get and I don't have a name out there, you know, I ain't got sources and unlike that But if you can get the next hot offensive Minded coordinator transitioning to a head coach Is that not just a little bit more appealing because you have that young quarterback because like I know we all watched the game Like in Kansas City you saw what Andy Rhee was he was literally on the sideline sitting with Pat Mahomes You say hey, what are you looking at? What are you seeing? You know, like let's try to figure this out because you know that when you have a franchise quarterback like that and you're in a situation Like they're in you don't have to play the entire game. Good, but what happened?
He didn't have any type of takeaways, right? He didn't turn the ball over and when they needed the most they were able to get the place that they needed so Again, I posed a question love typos think he's doing a hell of a job However for the growth of that quarterback and for that franchise if you can get an offensive guy Is that not something worth looking at and letting Todd bowls go and not due to anything of his own? It's just right this might be a better situation for us And that's why I think they're gonna let him go I think they're looking around the league and they're looking at office of non-coaches with quarterbacks Putting them numbers and they're gonna want that and they're gonna feel that as a as a coach He's done a good job defensively over the last couple years to get wins with limited to no talent But I think now and that's why I think he needs to open it up He needs to show he can do offensively because But the trainer wheels on him is only gonna get him fired But you just like you just labeled Todd bowls as a defensive head coach. So we all know that that's what his specialty is That's why they brought him there.
What defensive head coach, you know opens up the office for quarterback Like it doesn't happen. That's oxymoron that you understand But I just know that he's supposed to be an elite quarterback. That's what they think he is and they want to see it No, he's not an elite court. He's a promising franchise quarterback.
There's nothing about him right now that No, I'm not saying elite. That's what I'm saying like Baker looks like an elite quarterback Mahomes of like a league quarterback. Dona looks like oh, I see it in him But he needs a lot of time and as far as what people are saying I think what what should happen is next season I think they should keep diabolues. I think next season they need to go and get offensive minded like offensive Like a coordinator because I think if you lose bowls you lose a certain leadership A certain voice in the locker room and a certain person that kind of like grounds the team And if you just going for the flashy offensive I think that ruins outside of Donald's growth that ruin though rest of the time Because he just got there and not necessarily as far as like but I think it all depends on who you bring in right like it I don't know that I don't know the coaches names like that But I know the head coach for the Bears was the offensive coordinator of the Eagles, right?
And what are we seeing? Oh Frank, right? Yeah, I think he's an indie. Yeah, indie.
I'm sorry. Yeah, he's an indie I'm sorry. He's a man. You love he's grooming Well, well, you know, I had to look always needed that right because we saw what Bruce Arians What happened like he just had an explosion because Andrew look is already elevated at that level He's already elite.
He just needs an offensive minded guy However, you see how Philly is struggling I know that they're going through injuries and stuff like that But the play calling is at the same they feel different right and when you look at what Indy needed they needed that Because if you have a franchise guy you need you need the quarterbacks guy Right if we look at right now in the modern era of all of the franchises that have had sustained success Outside of Pittsburgh outside of that one franchise You need an offensive head coach with a franchise quarterback that are on the same exact page when you have that you have continuity You have you just have something that can win championship Well, you know, that's a good point real quick because Tomlin is known as a defensive coach Yeah, he transformed his identity into offensive minded coach That's why I said minus Pittsburgh For me the reason why I say letting go into our bowls and get offensive head coach is because you need balance Look at look at the Rams for example. Sean McVay ain't nothing about the he ain't thinking about defensive Sean of a is all offense, but look who he has on his sideline Phil exactly Yeah, but I think his offense defense. Yes No, I'm saying is I'm saying there I feel like they kind of equally yoke each other But but here's the thing though, right? Like we know that the Jets on a rebuilding situation Yeah, when you rebuild what are you gonna rebuild with the most important part of the team and they got that which is a core Back there for you need to be able to nurture that player and everything else will fall into place You can't expedite the process unless you already had an all-time great defense with like a running back that Ben Roth is Right.
He had the bus and he had that defense and he had Heinz word on the outside I love it. No, I don't know all of them guys all of them guys Right. So so you can ease a quarterback into that situation Hey, bro, don't don't turn it over too much and we'll be all right Sam Donald's not in that situation and Todd Bowes is not in that situation because that defense is good, but it ain't great It's not um, it's not the Rams. It's not even Chicago bears.
It's not Jacksonville. It's not Jacksonville So so it's it's not Denver. So what that means is is that you have a reset button and sometimes there's gonna be casualties and I've been I've been for Todd Bowes I think that he should keep the job He should be part of that rebuilding process However, if they get an offensive minded coach, I understand where they're coming from and I don't think that's an indictment on the job Todd Bowes and I made a piece with it. I'm 100% with you I would love to see what he can do with talent I just I just I've seen this play out so many times and I'm just looking at the headlines and I'm like they feel they got their guy And he's been there what four or five years he just signed an extension and I think they're not gonna be patient They don't want to they don't want to see something because in New York too.
So they got Backward about they drafted Bryce Kelly Bryce Penny, you know, like nobody thought he was gonna be you know anything But Sam darlin was been heralded for two years as the guy in is the guy Yeah, I think I think he's in lovey smith But they don't they just don't have the offensive coordinator But one of the guys that that many from the technical podcast suggested or recommended And I think he was just throwing me a bone because he was black was the guy from Stanford. Yeah, so Forgot his name was the black coach name is Stanford. Oh Yeah, I forgot his name, but he was one that he tossed and I like him I think he's a good coach too, but he got his own problems deal with Hey, did you guys I know I talked to you about it? Did you see that football game Penn State?
Oh, I'll say man That was that was that that fourth downplay was a stupid that option. I read option. Okay, holistically That's probably one of the last games I've seen in a long time as far as from an Ohio State quarterback, right? Like that reminded me of like Troy Smith like I'm torn too cuz I see all how I've got a black quarterback It's like I can't stay on high on stage.
I don't care from either But the way that man was down like what it said like that was down like dirty and it was in the fourth quarter Yeah, but yes, speaking of that play. That's right the dumbest play I've seen since the stupid that Colts play where they had everybody on the side And my soil ever running up and down At least fake it and then you could just broke out and ran and swept it was crazy Yeah, but as a brother and we made that call On a fan's face and stuff in that stadium I don't know what he was thinking about just looking at the way the sequence of events right He just knew he runs the ball on fourth down if it's for if it's not fourth and one right I don't know. I don't know. It's not even fourth and two right right Right in the fourth and it just and then like that is a fourth and six.
Yeah with a game on the line, right? Yeah, and they can stop you the whole fourth quarter like you go up by I don't know. I hope you didn't go to the press because like I don't see how you answer those questions. Yeah Yeah, yeah, I don't know everybody was saying how done that play everybody just dumb dumb dumb dumb.
So can the Stanford head coach His name is Brian David Shaw David Shaw. That's it. I was saying crossing my head But yeah, he was one that the throughout there so this is crazy man. We have a dance workshop We leave off with home in them boys like I thought he was gonna say the best for last same for last Yeah, we I know you was itching to talk about it.
Yeah, I go ahead. Go ahead. Go. You know, it's a little quick So last night after the game.
Well, look man. I call it like it is I When I first saw him throw I said oh man, this is about to be crazy And it just has been so last night after the game a little bit after the game I had texted the guys and they didn't start texting till this morning And and this is why like I love having these guys that I can that I can just talk to because in all honesty Not calling this guy the greatest of all time. I'm not saying this that in the Fact that you have to say that because everybody thinks that not you Conversations people like yeah, I'm not gonna put it in a hall of fame. Just you know, yeah People never say nothing about being a girl.
Yeah, that's why you have to declare Alright, alright, I'm a veteran over here. Okay, I've been doing this a minute So I know what I need to clarify what I don't need to clarify I'm gonna try to come from however with my homes, man I think that people need to just look at what we're witnessing right now and what we saw yesterday You already know y'all listen to the podcast. I'm big on moments and yesterday was a big time moment for Pat Mahomes We're talking Monday night football. We're talking one of the most liveliest arenas to play football.
We're talking about the air Right like that's that's for real up there. Like that's really that's really that's something you ever deal with you know I said yeah, that was too. You're talking about arguably the best pass rush as a team in the offense and Bradley to Bradley Joe You know what I'm saying? Like we're talking a lot of things that would rattle every other young quarterback in this league right now The Sam Darnos the Baker main fields the plays that he was making when the team needed him to make Look like a veteran quarterback out there and to me, you know, B Was I oh, you know be being coy they were like hey, you know, what about you know, AFC playoff game this that look man Fast forward because here's the thing the reason why I talk about moments is because you can go back and be like This was a defining moment for Pat Mahomes So so so in the future if he doesn't perform We have a barometer as to saying that he should perform under pressure, right?
He's already done it Obviously this upcoming week he's playing Jacksonville. So he's gonna have back-to-back tests So now if he can create another moment now, we're like, okay, well this guy is solidified We can trust that when the pressure is on pressures on the playoffs He should be able to perform and even if the good progress supports for him Of course 1000% because this is this is how you gauge how good you are, right? You got to measure yourself against the best and he played against the best pass rush to in my estimation last night and he did exactly what he needed to do to win the game and He may throw the left-handed one. I think that's it's been a little bit overstating.
I was like don't very much They made it like he just It was a push throw he felt von Miller and he and as a quarterback if you're gonna throw it right here You got to talk about he doesn't do that because he's on the side of on Exactly throwing it with the left. That's a great play improvisational great job He executed because if he did what would be said, oh well the young man he's taking too many risk and then got he got it done However, let's talk about the throws that counts when they were in what was it first and long second and long now They was like they was like second and 30 like 30 30 30 30 30 he completed a 23-yard pass on the run with von Miller and Boys on his ankle and they just see the throw he was throwing darts out there We and to me that that's what jumps off the page is those throws because well Matt Ryan and making that though like that You know again the only other person I've seen in the NFL right now make those throws is Roger I was gonna say I feel like maybe Russell listen to maybe He doesn't have that ball doesn't have that he don't he don't have a lot to be on that ball like like my homes does probably I was gonna say he looks like and this is real early I'm not trying to say this is who he's gonna be he looked like a black errand Like potentially and when I say black under legs exactly that's what I mean that means more athletic, but right now He's playing he's playing out of his mind. He hasn't thrown an interception. Yeah, he's playing great.
He's on fire No, no, no, no, no, but I'm saying it's a month long like I would say by week by halfway We'll know what the tape is like I think Jacksonville will be the biggest test because not only that's gonna be a great test Because with them for you just dealing with that front four Secondary yeah, I see he was throwing around. He was throwing all over the place. You know He didn't that was his worst game statistically that was somebody else's best game You know, I was his best you do like three or four and like one touchdown So he was all over the place as far as if you look at how the game was But as far as the I test I agree I think he is he's something special and I hope this isn't one of those like that press guy years We like the world on and next season, but he's a thing I think that what we're witnessing right now is a guy that has upper echelon talent He's executing he has the coaching and that's the reason why I believe in him You know because because he's not in a 50-50 situation where you don't know if this is gonna be the head coach Or they want to go in a different direction No, Andy Reid is going to be there for some years because he has pat my home That's just what it's gonna be. He's on grown.
He's the same run. He had in Philly Oh, he's about to have a Kansas and that's what I was thinking about when I was driving and I'm like is this Donovan? Now, I know Donovan there Brian Westbrook all of that all of them all over steroids and I don't mean that literally because these guys because Tyree like they're about any read is greatest is the He's coach. He's never had a tirey kill One because I don't know if he's really had a lot of elite receivers.
I would say the Sean Jeremy Mackely were the two best Why did you have to go? Yeah, but he didn't necessarily group They have Brett Selick But look all I know is that I'm super excited to watch this guy I think he's one of the most exciting football players that that's come into the league in the last five years And the fact that he is actually performing at this level is kind of crazy You know, but what the point I was trying to make before is you know, you know how I was talking about quarterbacks at that highest level Right Aaron Rodgers Tom Brady. They don't need other guys. No matter what you put out there battle line bad defense They're gonna put up points in their gonna win games.
My home's ain't there yet. He's only second year I don't think we can expect from pay Manning was great, but in the second year He wasn't that Tom Brady wasn't that a second year and Rogers wasn't that but I think that's that's that's what we have to kind of Moving forward. That's the level my home has to get to because talent wise, but he's as talented as we see Why do we say why do we say that about quarterbacks though? Like on one side?
We say oh, he has so many weapons That's why he's doing so well like that's helping and then on the other side I was like oh he doesn't have enough weapons look how far he's taking his team still It's like why do we make why do we look at quarterbacks like because every quarterback has a different ceiling and depending on their ceiling? That's how you got to judge them if you have a you know game manager type that person needs other people around him to be successful Because he can't necessarily elevate the play of other people and we don't but we're not looking at Okay But we clearly see that my homes ain't unlike any any don't so it's just like but it's just like when you have a QB like my homes Just like if you got a QB like and Rogers the best thing you want or like the main thing you want to do is surround him with talent Of course otherwise, he's not gonna get you that far no matter how good he is But without the talent he'll still be able to win exactly Not really cuz just mention Tom Brady and he's just 500 he just got the 500 and Rogers. What is there right now? But the resume Exactly their resume right like in some of their biggest most critical wins of their careers They haven't had the same talent other quarterbacks may have had I disagree because Aaron Rodgers first So he won he had a lot of time on his own that whole team But historically you hasn't had a defensive in the last couple of years I know that's but that's the reason why that he hasn't been competitive in the playoffs like that since but But I guess what people saying I guess kind of go back to your question is that he's still able to win without those pieces That's what makes him elite exactly who's been the division winning the last five years in that division In a in a scene or yep I don't mean a story just last year But all of those all of those other years green bay at least two or three out of those years right and those teams weren't that talented Her cousins need pieces exactly Tony Romo needs pieces.
Yeah, but we're not talking about the the average to good court We're talking about like the great to elite quarterbacks was we all are seeing that Mahomes may be in that class I still think that Russell Wilson needs pieces. Yes, it's great as he is he needs pieces like he Elevates people but does not to that superior level he means guys and we're seeing it now I Statistically this may not be his worst year, but man, it looks bad on the field for Seattle Yeah, Russell wasn't can make enough plays it makes every play is still not enough like he means other guys out there You know, you just have some quarterbacks that just needs help, you know and other guys are just so great that they know become the deficiencies in other areas Yeah, by the greatness. It's just kind of you know I don't want to open up another kind of war but it's kind of like LeBron you have LeBron on the squad He covers so many gaps that you have on the team You may not be the greatest team with him, but you're guaranteed a playoff team regardless of whatever you put around him Not every basketball player can do that like Kobe means pieces Kobe can't elevate everybody around him to be like Hey, you're a C plus player now. You're playing like a B plus player Kobe don't do that if you're a C plus player and you're not on Kobe's level You might be a minus player with him and it's looking like Anthony Davis need pieces.
Yep. He's that kind of guy You're Andy Davis by the lead so they know he's so talented and so gifted but he can't lift up people around him He just can't do it. So yeah, so I think what impressed me about that game was Down ten down ten Game in the road to yeah on the road. I think that that's what didn't he managed to he just worked the game and he stayed in it and Give that defense credit Granted they were playing against Keanu and we saw Demerus Thomas should have made that catch.
No, no No, I was with y'all until I was I was looking at the replays today. I'm like he should have made that I looked at it if you had He didn't go he didn't he didn't dive or like jump up and try to catch up Yeah, he could have done it He could have done it first of all the ball was it was way too high and it was out of stride with him because it would have been one thing It's in stride and I just got to go up there and go get it It was out of stride. It would have been too difficult point like When he came when he got into the guy's route like he didn't run his route the way he didn't run it strong enough I think maybe K's Kingdom thought he was gonna be on a full break And that's not running harder That's not keen on fuck cuz I'm glad you pointed out because that's what I saw so that was one and two one He didn't run his route the strong cuz he like he stopped and he realized oh shoot I was coming to me and he tried to run and on top of that he's athletic enough and he back in it I mean a few years ago We were talking about him as being maybe a breakout I received it when he was with Manny, but he could he could Okay, he could have at least made a better effort He could have made effort but he wasn't gonna catch it. No, not at all He wasn't gonna catch that I don't think I'm not gonna say he's like that but you know what?
And here's the first point. Yes, he could have came out of it And maybe and if he did break harder to call it He was probably around and he didn't want to be in a better position to make a diving Attempt for it and I think I put the majority of blame on that on the quarterback If you saw how that ball was thrown there needs to be a little bit more arc on that that was thrown very hard and high and when you're trying to Split that that cover to gap right because the corner plays the flat and the linebackers are supposed to play that middle But when you're on the outside like that the mind-bacon going get way out there So there's a gap in between that safety in that corner There's a certain type of throw that you got to make there and to me I don't think case Keenum he put too much on it It was a little bit too much mustard if he would have took a little bit off He would have got the Marius more and stridey and instead would have been high But he still would have been able to make a play on the ball the ball was just thrown way too strong You know who throws balls like that Colin Kaepernick. Yeah, he don't know how to take off Just like early Mike Vic these guys with cannon because kids can't got a nice arm You know say it's not the greatest but he put a little bit of muscle He's a professional quarterback. He's a professional quarterback.
He can make throws like that's a throw He should have made I give you that but it was just a little bit too much on it and that was the difference and again You know to credit my homes you see what he got to put some mustard on that thing. It's spicy You're saying and when he got to take some off of it It's a cupcake he just floats it you just catch it like I think it was week one when he threw the one over the DB to like a full Back or somebody like that right? Oh, it went way over the defender And landed right in the bread back but at the same time he was wide open like the guy he literally didn't care to cover him And he was no the linebacker played but the way that the ball was thrown He thought that he can just go high ball it now, right? It's too much.
It's too high But it was soft enough to just land in a non-receivers bread basket a fullback made that catch You know say out the backfield so to me those are the type of like air Rogers We see that this man has a cannon. Jerrick golf. Jerrick golf. Jerrick golf.
I didn't I didn't think he was that good of a quarterback I Was to brand cooks in the scene that I was like he and then the reason why I looked at that Throw is because I'm looking at his effort as he's throwing the ball and it seemed like it was just It was just right there It seemed like effortless and then he was just and then the second touchdown of Cooper Cup where it was in the back of the end zone As it like between over the top two defenders. I'm like, okay, I don't know if it's I don't know if he's that good or Shama I think that game was him. Yeah that game was that game was like it was all him But see but then that that's that's why you got a pair your young quarterback with an offensive You know because here's the thing like with a lot of these college quarterbacks They're running more I don't want to say necessarily pro sets, but they're infusing some of the NFL stuff You know what I'm saying? But I think that the that the best offensive minds right now the NFL are so infusing a lot of college stuff Yeah, you know what I'm saying is clear this day the read option a lot of Pat like screams bubble screens bubble screens, you know a lot of the jet sweeps that we're seeing you know This year you have to be creative to keep because these defensive coordinators like be always says once they get you on film They can take away certain things so if you start to give them, you know so many looks How can you key in on one thing because it's all about the wrinkle at that point?
You didn't seem this so much what if I do this and throw this wrinkle? You're not even ready That's about to mess you up and that's why I was saying like how can you not fuck with Sean? I'm a like the scheme he did with Cooper Cup where he was doing a shallow cross and then he ended up going up field for the And I was just a perfect touchdown. It was just I thought it was a lot of a guy through some nice He do nice but I'm saying the scheme and like it just sets you up for that It's like if you went out to the club and you got that wing your best friend with the best wingman get you all like bring Realcy tape everything like he just sets you up perfectly.
We just got to execute I'm a big time girly fan I'm excited. I'm happy for him because he we can see what he can do and you know in that high school offense is what he called it You just can see it so but let me ask you because I don't remember what media pundits said it But they said that Alfred Kumara is the best overall running back in the league and when he said that said okay You can put him top three top five But the best overall running back in the league is too early because we talking past catching running everything With Zeke did you see that game? I saw the game. Well, I saw highlights again You know, I'll be watching recently, but however to me I take you we talk Zeke was running around Zeke ran a route and he caught it on like he caught that on the dime you switch them But I haven't seen I haven't seen girly make the most of the most as far as past I'm talking all because we're talking about all purpose Back so we already know Zeke is a thumper so is girly But as far as a past catching back I never see the game he had against each other I haven't seen him play like that.
I've never seen him use like that and it was used perfectly What do you think may be with you if he has Zeke? Like we can see almost the same thing. Yeah, I don't think it'd be much difference It wouldn't be much difference because everything that he's doing with girly I don't see why he couldn't do because he's giving him just enough past catch attempts He's giving him enough inside and outside runs enough gimmicky, you know, let's see if this works Let's see if we could put it, you know, to the same extent like as far as exactly the same I think I really touched the ball more in passing situations He does he does I think the only two players in this top five running back of african-maro Karim hunt are the only two guys. I think those are the top fours They fell in love with my home so much I think they were just like let's see what he can do Oh, yeah, I forgot we got this guy exactly exactly I think as the season winds down though, though They'll rely a little bit more especially when you play in these like top defense You have to be honest and I think they even one of them said that I think so girly Zeke Well, it's not an order in order or we just saying off top just off top So I got girly Zeke aha Zeke aha Zeke alpha-komara and Karim hunt those are my top four say one Best Are you hating on my boy?
Say come on man. What you got love for the brother man as long as he a QB But he's running back you want to toss him to the way you say my calf I'm bail with plan obviously of lady We'll include him in week eight, right? But um damn So come on is nice is he done? How is he nice?
He's nice. He is but I still think they should have got a quarterback No, I mean, I'm okay What a ball to run in the ball, but I still haven't seen it This that's before last game he averaged like he's got like a 20 yards over 20 yards rushing like over a hundred yards He had one good game running the running the ball this year But he's definitely doing a good job of catching as a receiver. That's what I see him doing He's the game when he caught it over the defender like he made he did what the mayor's Thomas didn't do was go for the ball He you know, look there's no denying his athletic talent. That's what people love about him I just I just haven't seen him as a runner yet.
I just I think what separates Sequon from my other four guys is just a certain level physicality even though I think you know Karim and Kamara are a little bit more elusive a little bit more shiftier than my other two guys on the list all four of them have just a Better level physicality. I can't say that about Kamara. I can't I know Karim Kamara is definitely finesse That's what I got on what's his name and I want to get back from suspension marketing room. Yeah, it was a bar I feel you I'm not calling him a banger.
I just I think he has a little bit more physicality over there So right now today, I'm not saying say quan in a year or two from now. Okay, but I'm just saying what she's seen so far I just think I'm a little bit more. I don't know man. I'm not a hundred percent solo Kamara yet But my man Gordon, he's been a crazy number.
He's actually having a sneaky good season, but I want to be in the office If it's Sean Payton And Kamara like that pairing the way he's you know what he is now you give Sean Payton sick one Barkley Now we talking well, I mean he's shot in anybody. They didn't know I was going up Yeah, you know what Kamara is you remember when um when Green Bay they ran out of running backs and they used time on Gummy and he was kind of serviceable Kamara's like in that mode as far as he really looks like a he's like a thick receiver, but he just can go in the back field every now and then he's electric and I see him like the way he the way Sean Payton using is definitely more receiver based in like a run between It's he's very Reggie Bush like you know saying we're just ready didn't ever got to that level Reggie can catch as well as he could no he couldn't he couldn't but you know I just I don't know man No, he could not say he couldn't catch I'm saying as well. Yeah as Alfred cuz otherwise they would have used in this such I think they used to primarily as a receiver. I thought they used a more like pump I'm gonna knock out by Philly Lead I'm never going.
Yeah, he's always sneaky good Like you don't think about Phillip Rivers until somebody bring him up. Yeah, it's because of the team So since we mentioned a name is he Hall of Fame never go to no. Yes. No, whoa, okay.
Why is he not? I say yeah, he had a good run with LT, but he had a lot of good run Yeah, right. He's what I say about Phillip Rivers when Phillip River was on he was easily top five Yeah, when Phillip River was was was was on he always has to be on though to be honest He might be top five now if you really want to look at You mean I'm just saying but like I said like what I said before like you don't think about Phillip Rivers since I bring him up But if I'm thinking about it, I will I will move Russell Wilson out of my five and put Phillip Rivers But it's filled with the kind of guy that needs pieces like we were talking about earlier What pieces does he else he's not winning what pieces does he have though? It's been been married for a long time.
Yes, right? You know what I got keen and Alan Mike Williams He's been hurt a lot so he doesn't have a lot of trust. I know cuz I had him on fast. Yeah, fast.
Yeah, you know what I think that that's a very interesting Question about Phillip Rivers does he elevate everybody or does he need guys because I want to say that I've heard from Yes, yes, that was his best year that was his best year But every quarterback look at Cam Newton. Hey, come on up little the man story for more yards more high school He's just exactly a biggest touchdown the intersection disparity in his entire career So no turner has a big impact on any office. I like the river's he got that dog in I'm like okay, okay, I'm wasn't he cool Exactly, but this Philip need guys. I think the answer is yes, but here's the thing I don't think he's like a slew of guys I think like you give him one good.
It was all he really had was Antonio Gates and Okay, he made friends and Jacks yeah, I say well, yeah, yeah, you know, so I say he making none yeah Okay, we're not able to make it to the They both like they were like For Phillip Rivers to be as consistent he has been for his entire career and had multiple different coaches 7 consistent that's a winner record it is but it ain't great But here's the thing but at the end of the day can at the end of the year his numbers are in par with the greatest And look at the division. He's been in like let's be real like Ses doesn't get the respect it deserves like you had to be one of the toughest of it kind of it's still it's still Right now it is but but back in it's hey, they the Chargers were by far the best team in that division What's the hey there? What you say? I'm telling what years Sean Maryman When they got Phillip Rivers basically when Joe Montana was around or pre-som Yeah But I'm sorry Elte Antonio Gates Good defense I remember the world's a wide receiver his last name was Chambers he came from Miami Chris Chambers Yeah, Christian Yep, they also had a DB that came from the Dolphins as well I can't remember his name good man because they was close they were naked to playoffs and you're like Yeah, I was listed a Patriots like somebody like yeah, patrons of the coast of somebody like it was like Phillip Rivers was close, but he had Brady and men in his way Because you know you had to go through either both of them.
Yeah, one of them. Yeah every year and he was you know It's kind of like Patrick Ewing right back in the Yeah, they had to go through pissing had to go through the bull's like yeah Same way with the hulk like down he had to get the Celtics Pistons and up like yeah It's like certain teams you just you didn't get there because I had a face that you know what I'm saying I think that's what the real question is who gets in first Eli or Phillip? Oh Eli should he got to chips He was saying people argue that he barely is going into all the things he should it I put if he didn't win those two chips Barely be it he's hurting his legacy the longer he's playing. Yes the longer he's playing.
He's hurting it But yeah, he's going in just a back-and-be time Brady twice undefeated and when else he was undefeated time on time Brady Yeah, you're going in you're going in and your last name is manning you going He deserved that last name he Was bottom like why does kept no why does kept Eli had like one of the best fourth quarter stats yeah like in like damn They're all the QB's that won't trust in him and the playoffs more than yeah Yeah, yeah, he was clutching the fourth quarter man quite a step like more close than air right like his fourth quarter numbers was crazy Especially when he was down yeah, people forget about that about Eli they look at the six and sevens He always throw on time. He's good. Give you a six-interception game Yeah, 2006 they went 14 and two yep now was the here today was like this is gonna be the year they're gonna win him They did it. See you you know when you think about Eli's history right like he big time interception thrower However, he didn't make the the costly interception down to stretch down I know I know that's so crazy this man might have four interceptions to the first three quarters and I drive That's so crazy makes it throw like why didn't you do this to the whole day exactly yep?
Yeah, speaking a guy who made the throws my boy Mitch 2018 Trent Daufer just be the conductor just keep the train moving that's all you gotta do But you know what though like here's the thing though if that if this is your second year out of college and that's you Ceiling then the bears need to drop another quarterback Not right now. Oh you tripping not right now I said not right now the same way I said the same thing with the whole Winston and fit like let the season You'll figure you'll know your answer by understanding I'm actually I'm actually in agreement with you'll know like the way he's been progressed like be you did the numbers last week He was I mean it's better. He was his first three-honey art game I think so far the season six touchdowns He's been handicapped like they've had the train wheels on him too and look how he was making some throw like he needed it I saw those throw I looked at the house throws was spirals and everything he was making the throws Who's he playing against that's the bucks defense ain't like in the bucks offense I'm just saying that bus defense is trash. It is.
We said about a lot of defense, but we're talking about the bucks defense However, see what they gonna do with mitch Jabisky. They're not gonna draft another quarterback. Make sure they know quarterbacks coming out next year No, they lost a lot of picks So that's the only reason why I say that they're not going to however. I don't think that Mitch has another game like this all season personally No, no, not six times now.
That's a Lions 100% and here's the thing. I don't want to say he's complete trash I just don't think that he has a very high ceiling personally I haven't seen anything outside of this weekend so say hey this guy may have something to take now if he comes back next or this upcoming week Don't like you know, no, not even he can't touch downs 280 yards the next four days Did I say it on here you said over under yes three right three you said under I said over you said over I said four you said four he's gonna have four I got three more left. You got three more left. He's got the dolphins.
I think they're You got the dolphins. He's got the past obviously I'm giving the past he has the Jets and the bills And then he got the lines after that I'm talking about their defense. I'm talking about the bills secondary who they have they just I'm today was gone The Jets we just talk they they have a good enough to stop They're these are the people's points of not if he has like they have a good running game And he used a lot of we just talked about how college is now going to end for these a lot of screens and all that stuff The dolphins secondary we just saw what happened last week. They're not doing it, but that's not that's not we can't judge The Losing to straight game Why are we respecting the dolphins so much I think they just ran into a bus all last year.
Yeah last week. Yeah, everybody if you didn't see that coming You don't know football. Yeah, and you ever follow the Patriots. No, I'm not saying that I'm just saying it's the dolphins defense Why are we respecting them so much?
They haven't played anybody good? Trubisky is a good what is gonna happen to you? I'm just saying he can get three on that team I don't know. I don't know about that.
I don't know about that now And I think I think the dolphins actually have some injuries on defense. They went through with football everybody got injuries Yeah, but I think they was a key player. We saw where the same the fouls have been the same. They are in trouble I called that game that was not he did we sat here He was like y'all think I'm gonna lose this any dog's gonna win in the red rifle and lo and I'm gonna say this That shouldn't happen.
I've never seen Andy Donne play that well in all my years I'm talking about the moment as far as fourth quarter down by you need a They put up a stat, but I have I'm talking about I've never seen him play that well I'm going about you because that's you know They put up a stat where as far as for me They put up a lot of stats as far as fourth quarter come back So like to watch that game they went back and forth, you know Throwing points against each other but to see him go down the field making third at fourth How many fourth down conversions did he let two and they were like they weren't short fourth downs? They were like you had to throw the ball. Yeah fourth and fourth and then he got AJ in the like I don't know how y'all at AJ, you know, I don't know what they were doing on that But he caught on that thing like it was a baby like it was a newborn like he caught a son like I Was amazed by that because last week at Carolina It was the same type of situation he threw up a duck so I don't know I don't know if it was y'all defense being that bad or he was just on it's more the Falcons than The Bengals the rea right so that passed on they when we finished recording then hip-hop I believe the Falcons were up 36 so what was it like 31 or And it's when Andy Dawson threw the touchdown to AJ again that got called back for holding. Yes, right?
I was crazy I thought that was like once they got hold out they did not win in it Yeah, it would I actually called the game before that the the the bangles were driving and when I saw time and score I think I want to say was like maybe eight or about eight minutes left in the quarter in the fourth quarter They had the ball and in my head. I'm like the bangles are gonna score the Falcons are gonna get the ball back They're not gonna do anything with it and it's gonna be the game. That's pretty much almost how it went down I to me and this is why I say you can't trust no team in Georgia because no for real It's really holy feel. I don't know how many years I gotta say and keep getting through right They're trying to keep getting proof right UGA Georgia Tech the Falcons the Braves It don't matter if it's a team base out of Georgia.
They ain't gonna win But but in this game The foul the Falcons need to they need to figure it out they First of all, okay, so we talk about the grinder. They have a lot of injuries on defense So I think that might buy him that gives him a built-in excuse Isn't your head coach a defensive specialist? He's coming from Seattle, but here's a big need you need body No, I'm in in his second year. He made a tap 10 defense.
That's any any GM any owner would pick big money for that Mm-hmm, and he was able to accomplish that now he has a couple of injuries However, I and I told Kenness and I told be this during the shoot then Quinn After this year has to be on the hot seat That's what I'm saying and it's not it's not necessarily because of him per se But bruh expectation exactly is the expectations you have a top five top ten quarterback right now in this league You have top five weaponry out here on this field. Mm-hmm. You have a supposed you know when healthy top ten defense The expectation especially this year with the Super Bowl being here in Atlanta is to win a super because you got to win And I would say it's not even just expectations It's because you were supposed to already have one that's that you lost one It was in your hand It was like just like how the Spurs were about to bring out that cart and the finals and had to pull it right But like you had it like if he had a sort of he would have to and don't even matter what he did that my heart McCarthy Sean Payton that Tom and that was feel really like are you guys you gave us one You good for the next three four years You know says all you competitive we go to the playoffs We good but the fact that you lost one when you had it in the pocket and then on top of that you come back and you Not only do you come out the season struggling on res on again and then on top of that your defense grandi You have injuries sucks you listen to the bangles at home you listen to the same But doesn't it feel like it's you doesn't it feel like it's been a two-year Super Bowl hangover? Yes, absolutely and that's a problem and again I don't want to put that all-long Dan Quinn is just not all him but damn somebody somebody has to be accountable for it You know what it's gonna be no one the team feels like man Once he out of lost that Super Bowl.
Yep, that's exactly what it feels like I feel the same thing and it's funny cuz he comes from that Seattle team too Yep, it feels the exact same way the team don't even look at you the same They don't trust you as much it's like they lost a little bit of that mojo that made him special. I mean I I get what you guys are saying. I still think you still got hope Yeah, I still think you know looking at not hope but looking at one of the seasons has gone I think it'll be a little harsh to get rid of it, but thanks to balling Carolina's 3-1 right I think so it's gonna be hard to come back Our division I would say that the NFC South from top to bottom is arguably one of the toughest divisions in football Yeah, they lost some tough games, man. I get some tough opponents So I don't know how this that's gonna go before especially with the injuries that they have winable games, too That's a thing like you can't continue to win You lose the drew breeze on a QB sneak you lose the AJ Granger and touch on the ends on and then you lose the Defense can't continue to let 30-plus points go up on that board.
Yeah, at some point the guy's no break at least Yep and I think the second stringers at some point they got to step up Like you've been on the field long enough you need to know how to play at this point Because you know we give a lot of praise to Kansas City's offense and their defense is getting a lot of flat because they're last overall But guess what they're number one in? So Exactly so the thing is is that even though the Chiefs get up a ton of yards ton of points when they need to stop They can get it and the Falcons just aren't there right now with the way that offense is built even though Freeman is just now getting back into the fold You gotta give that offense more opportunities. You got to create turnovers. You got a you got you got to give up three You can't be giving up seven all right.
You know what I'm saying You know what one thing that always helps out a defense is the run game and I will say that right now Y'all have no I mean granted Freeman's been hurt and Kevin Coleman obviously can't hold it down like you would think he would be able to But if you had like a decent run game just like at least to balance it out You know because I know that defense like as much as you want to say next man up at it gets a certain point like oh yeah I'm not an ex-mano guy because I know next you second string for a reason. Yes. I mean basically Yeah, so I you know that's just a cliche that came out of what? Patriots I think they started the whole thing.
Yeah next man up and tell you man up and see I don't ran with that for a minute too. Yeah But I think sometimes somebody just needs a little bit of opportunity and experience You know and I believe in next man up because sometimes You know there might be a person where they might not be ready week one through four But all of a sudden it's just it's a light bulb that they just clicks and you go out there and you have a hell of a season When does that happen with Kirk cousins this season because right now with the Vikings are one two and one or something like that? Yeah, one two and one however little they lost that that Rams game But damn he did he not do the damn thing like what else did you want from him? I wasn't the reason why they lost yes and yes and no yes and no yes and no Yes, I was a phenomenal game he had but at the end of the day who fumbled the ball?
He said he did the same thing you've been talking you talked about that week It's not the day when you look at the game he fumbled the ball and he cost him the game when you turn it over It's always when you turn it over that that's your thing. I was then a romo s game like it was It was it was coming out. Why don't you throw a pick? Not in this game.
I feel you but however The reason why I can't just say it was all Kirk cousins is because at the end of the day man The defense can't allow 37 points 33 points They you just that's not winning football Like you cannot allow as a defense into the 30s. They haven't been a good defense since that NFC championship game They stick but then that's why I'm saying that they have to hold some accountability in this Mm-hmm. You know what I'm saying because we know what Kirk cousins is Kirk cousins doesn't hit the ceiling We know what he is he can pass the ball. He's gonna make a costly turnover at the wrong time of the game However, if that defense can hold teams to 20 some points We we talking a different record right now.
You know so so again, we know what Kirk cousins is We're judging Kirk cousins on Kirk cousins, but one two and one I gave you okay A loss of the Rams is fine, but if you look at that record based off of last season and in this season expectations But you know to the bills no I feel you but you know last year they started to and to finish 13 and uh three Right they started to and to finish 13 and three not saying that that's what's gonna happen again this year It's just that within the first four or five games They may not be who we thought they were and they may not be who they're going to be but this is also why you have Kirk cousins Somebody that can throw the ball up and down the field because um he's had some good games, you know, um feeling dig Um and they've managed to cook his little bit underwhelming though, but they've been better without it. I think he's been underwhelming. He's just been hurt He's just been hurt. Yeah.
Yeah, I think he's not even when he's in there. He's a bus like he's not he's not He's like one of two games. I don't think I'm just calling it early. I'm just saying I don't see like when I saw Melvin Gordon first year he was good.
I'm a gorta look like a bus He did yes. Yes. Yeah He struggled that first year. Yeah, bro.
He struggled. He didn't know where to find the whole like like you could tell that He was being frustrated because it wasn't coming the way I needed to come for him Okay, but he came back next year because he went to go train with Adrian Peterson. Yeah, he came back I'm gonna say but that's what I'm saying. That's what I was expecting out of Calvin cook Now I'm cooking like they drafted him to be like you're a Cl You were playing.
Oh, we've seen a lot of players come back like that's that's interesting. We saw one No, I'm saying we've seen other players come back from running backs running backs. We saw one Adrian Peterson. I'm just saying he's replacing that guy.
So expectations for running back is high Adrian Peterson is He's going to be the Russian record coming back off of that. I'm not saying he's gonna be the next agent Peterson But he has to play better. Wait, wait, wait, wait, we're not gonna give him that he played four games last year I had to pull it up. I know I'm not crazy.
This is his second year. He played four games. He played a total of seven games And he got hurt again this year, right? It's a hamstring injury.
Okay. Now's it like come on man. What is your favorite? What is your best ability is what availability and if you keep but you can't call it bust yet though I'm just I say I called it early.
I'm just saying I don't expect much from me I say he was a buzz and look at it's a bug. We're not gonna No, no, no, this is the brother you want to get behind Can't give me say call but you go over the advocate come over I've seen it with David because this brother can play in college You ain't seen anything NFL starting NFL too. We all saw it in the NFL. He was good.
Yeah, yes They're going good too though. They're going good They're going to be with him. He was man ready in pretty every state 4.8 yards a carry in last year four games. Yes, okay Yes, 4.8 yards a carry.
How many games you gonna do? He played this season 8.2 yards a reception last year How many games you think? He's gonna with the hamstring come on ACL. I mean, I think it's like we all knew like it was gonna take a while to get comfortable coming off of ACL injury.
That's not a That's a major injury, bro Like people that think Peterson was gonna be the same when he came back. He just like I said, he's not normal So I think it's unfair to judge him this early. I'm just saying I had there's a certain feeling that you get when a guy's on the field I don't get that feeling with him where he's like I gotta watch I gotta watch he's like make sure you watch him make sure you like he's got to be eyes on him. It seems like he's just He's a back by committee because I think he played a photo state, right?
Yeah, okay. Yeah, I remember him He was a dog in full state. Yeah, he was good in NFL too. So it's James Winston was dog in the NFL too I don't know about him in league.
We're seeing anything. Yeah, I think about my boy Watson At the shot was I think I think I think Then they went as fast as they wanted because Frank right decided to go. I don't blame though I'm not playing for a tie down it. Yeah, that was unnecessary fourth down though That was unnecessary.
He was he I forget He could have done something differently instead of going for it like that. He should have Because they were tied up at that point, right? He should have pointed the ball. Nah, we're talking to coach, right?
Yeah, I'm playing for the way, baby And that was a good to call and you know, I think Colin Cowell heard how he said it the best that in that first year when you're head coach and you're taking over an organization Especially one that has been as chaotic as the coach. It's been under wraps It doesn't get out there because they have a franchise quarterback but that whole GM choccano like that is crazy Yes, however when you take over an organization like that, you got to establish a culture that first year is about it It's not about wins and loss. You know that that roster is too depleting They have been too depleted with having a franchise quarterback for all his time that right now It's about getting buy-in. It's about getting people to be like, you know what?
This guy is about winning and we didn't win but he's going for the win And I think that that is what gets you those brownie points in year two year three where people are just they'll run through a big Raw for you because of calls like this and again because it's the first year It's not about getting the win. It's not about converting it. It's about what Andrew Lux said post conference, you know, I mean I said post conferences Post game press conference, you know, saying it's about getting Andrew Lux buying It's about getting that locker room to buy in to that head coach and once you do that and then you get the talent Then you're able to turn that thing over. So I understand okay What you're saying makes total sense, but we're talking but let's focus just on how the game went You were tied up, right?
And over time You should have punted the ball just for the fact of The the what the the team you have did you trust going for for it was it forcing sick? It was like for it wasn't like a trust Andrew Lux exactly and Andrew Lux for 400 yards that game you trust Andrew Lux You do 62 times It was a high volume like better for 100 yards They should have executed that fortune said they should have and Andrew Lux took ownership He was a bad thrower. I still think you could you could append them back to the towards their end like you could Man wait and then what and then you would you still would have you know fought that game now and then what but they're About field position at that point but there was more how many minutes left three some minutes It wasn't a lot of time left in the game So even if you stop them how much time do you get back? I you just I trust Andrew Lux to tell if it's like at least a minute they have any time as they have left I don't even think there was much time left only But here's like you're looking at the game and the result what what my like you're looking at the short game You know say look at the long game for me because the short game leads to luck because you have to win the games that are presented like that necessarily not necessarily really what you say the culture on a rebuilding situation I said they've been rebuilding for a very long time right for a very long time.
How do you get the best talent? It's not by winning you get the best talent by losing and getting higher draft Therefore you can get better talent correct But the same the same argument that we make about why Ta-Bose to stay is the same argument that you should make as far as why they shouldn't have went for it Down with with the coach head coach because you understand the team in which your situation that you're put in So when you have a game that's in reach or possibly like you just got played out a little bit longer See how the chips fall taking that that's a guaranteed loss right there Like when you don't get this you're gonna lose the game Okay But but you know what you're willing to take that risk because what you're trying to do is bigger than win the game is to create culture To create culture you have to take some losses because there's more teaching points in a loss than there are in a win So so again, that's what I'm saying you're looking at to me from just hearing sitting right next to you and hearing what you're saying You're taking the short-term success where I'm looking at long-term success You look you're looking I'm taking you're looking at long-term culture And I'm saying when it comes back to the reporting back to GM or looking at like Angelica Angelica is not he's getting further away from his prime than entering his prime of my heart So There's gonna be a time when I think the argument can be made now Angelica might not be where everybody thinks he's gonna be or what's supposed to be Yes, well, this injury could derail that someone Because so you have to say that young angel look would have short hopped up all the way he did Right, right? We're probably not right. So can we say that maybe this injury has lasting effects We don't know but we're learning this we're learning as we're going on right and here's the thing though, Nick I think that culture translates into wins just not right now because you don't have the talent If you if the coach had a pretty good defense or a really great offense or something like that you coach took to You coach to prolong the game, right?
Like you coach to try to get the ball with four downs and all that I get you However, right now where they are roster wise It didn't matter if they put in the ball or not like like this is a win that that's a bigger win than them winning the game There were 27 seconds left in that game. It was the balls on their 40. They were tied 34 all And it was like fourth so so so you put and do what that's a tie what helps what helps you more throughout the season attire loss A target you get nothing from a doesn't hurt you right? It doesn't help you I lost her to more than the time does right?
Yeah, but what are the expectations for the season? What are the expectations for the last four years? You talked you just talked about how the Colts have not been a good have not drafted have not they've been revealed over the last four years to be honest ever since they I haven't switched out the same it's the same situation different quarterback We're talking about Aaron Rodgers in the Packers the same way we talked about the Colts and and you look great quarterbacks around about horrible talent So if that's the case my thing is take as many wins as you or like take as many positive notes away as possible 400 plus yards and four touchdowns coming back from a two score depth and you lost one of the worst teams in NFL You were losing by even more If you lose if you're a team that has not been successful the last three two three years and you lost one of the worst teams in NFL What does it say about your team? No, but but you know what a lot has to say about body language Right and what that locker room feels versus the wins and losses of of of an NFL team after that loss Then anybody looked down.
Oh man. Here we go again. This is the Cleveland Browns. We we got to get away like no No, everybody was upbeat.
There's a reason for that Nick and what you're talking about is very minute. You're talking about um What was that? Oh, you might you might have won the fight, but you lost the war like this was just a fight I understand that in the war like like it's a long-term thing. It's a culture thing I understand the positive spin you're trying to put on it, but it's not a positive spin It is because you're telling me to be happy about a loss No, you know why I'm saying it's not because look at look at the players that talked about it afterwards, right?
And almost any other like the morale is high after a loss. What does that look at Philly? You know how much stuff Brown had to endure all them years just to get to the process Just to get to the process, but what happened if you ask any NBA player that played against those trash ass Philly teams Them boys played hard they came to try to win, but they didn't have it But every game that they can't it didn't matter if they were 14 and 80 something right they came to play hard And that's what that's where the coach are Nick the thing is is that in a rebuilding process There's several stages. I understand where the coach are right now.
What stage is that? They're rebuilding exactly their stage negative That's why Andrew luck is healthy. Let's get us some running backs and let's replace these with that That's why when you brought up Philly I'm thinking okay How does that relate to the coach because Philly had town you could see they were growing talent You could see they were improving season by season somehow some way with the coach They seem like the only thing that was great about the season that oh, yeah, and look is that no That matters a lot But that but as far as outside of that, what are we talking about? Are they are they competitive in their division?
No, because they just lost the worst team in the division Let me ask you something though, right? Like like the coach have not had talent since they drafted Andrew look right true And when they drafted Andrew look these boys been hitting the playoffs ever since right and they have been this not recently But when they first heard exactly what he got No, no, but when he got hurt obviously they make the playoffs Yeah, and have made the place since he's got hurt But since he's been in the league with that trash roster, they've made the playoffs So what does that say about Andrew look? So we know we got the guy we got a guy that could take us to the promise line because he's That's why they let him go. That's why they let him go.
They already knew and and and with Andrew look They have not been able to rebuild properly, right? So they got rid of what the whole front office the whole front office is brand new head coach GM everything So this is their first year you what they're doing right now is what needs to be done to have sustained success over a decade What you're talking about is winning this game This game means nothing to three years from now because two three years from now is when they're going to be competing It's hard for me to to accept that a division game against a team that on paper As far as quarterback wise, I believe Andrew up morning to shine Watson at this point in time just to say I believe as a quarterback you can see you can laugh at it. I don't know why you laugh at that I just as a quarterback. I believe in it.
So you saying to shine watching his nice and angel look today. Yep Take the color out of be color blind on this test. Come on. What do you see the end?
You were just you were just shooting on Andrew luck a few minutes ago No, I was I'm talking about the because of the game and the situation is in but if we talk about quarterback to quarterback No, there's no question Andrew look is over the shine wise. That's not what you were saying five minutes ago I was saying it there's I said there's an argument to be made now as far as angel luck when it comes to He might he might not be that guy that you thought he was going to be as far as holla famer Uh, you know lead us to the promise land. That doesn't mean he's a horrible quarterback That doesn't mean he's not as good. That doesn't mean he's not better than uh, just shine Watson's not right now.
Okay All I know is that the Colts need a lot Um, and I think it starts in that locker room and and this all this upcoming offseason is when you have to draft right You have to get the right free agents not the not the big splashing move It's not it's not time for that yet right now in this portion of the rebuild Obviously the first performance they got to protect angel. So this man been in the family. He has not been protected You gotta get an o-line and I think that you can draft two o-line guys and bring in a free agent or two And now you solidify that o-line right next year you go in you make it back to the position You know I'm making a playoffs Next year you get back to the playoffs after you get back to the playoffs That's when you start filling in the gaps you bring in the splash of free agents and hopefully you draft well again And you're able to fill up even more gaps with cheap young talent and at that point that second third year That's when you're competing again for you. So you're saying about 2022.
They'll be competitive Right now. What is this the 2018-19 season? So I'm saying by the 20 21 22 season they should be a Super Bowl contender. Do you think that the teams and his division will pass them up by then?
Jackson look they're gonna fall off exactly because we see what happens when you have a loaded defense everybody want to get paid You can't pay everybody so they have a shelf life right and even though Blake Bortles has improved My leap for our game pass Andrew Luck. No, I'm not doing that The Sean Watson should continue to progress but JJ Watt is on a big decline. He's still impactful. How he's up and down Yeah, clownies up and down he hasn't been the consistent pressure person that you expect him to be especially playing opposite JJ why so I see them shifting from a defensive team to our offensive teams But we don't know yeah, but we don't know what that looks like right because this has to Take another exactly and this has to take another transformation for them to become an offensive team versus a defensive team and then uh who is in the AFC South it's just Tennessee So so I see Tennessee.
I don't think he's a bust. I don't think I would but I think that they are poised to be the most consistent team throughout the Coach rebuilding process. Yeah, they'll be competitive with them But you know what I think remember a couple of weeks ago a couple of shows ago I said that Every organization goes in and they go on their white board and they have their knees and they say okay How many games can we realistically expect to win this year? The coach know what that is Frank right know what that is.
What do you think that number is? 6? Yeah, I say 3 Nah, I think more about 6 but I think when he's coaching losing games to Houston. That's you about 3 or 4 to me Yeah, but a tie you know like what's the value of the tie?
I'm just saying that's not a loss But there's but it's not a win either. I'm not saying you I'm not saying you play for I'm saying and it goes And it goes in as the words losing as the worst thing in football right? But it's but it's part of that number it's part of that 10 So let me ask you this if they would have made it right if they would have converted that for that for like the headline is different We're talking about how great and to call and gutsy and this that in the third at the end of the day There's always gonna be a winner loser in football and in baseball. Sometimes there are ties It is what it is.
However with 27 seconds left your quarterback is 62 attempts. He's hot He completed 40 passes. You know saying like that's not easy to do like some some quarterbacks don't even get 40 attempts He completed 40 passes and he was better way better than 50% he was closer to 60 some percent right like you ride that hand That's like if LeBron has 60 some points going into you know the last three minutes of the game Are you calling a shot for Kyrie if it happens happens, but you're riding broad You riding you're a guy And if you lose you go down with your guy and you send a message to the end to that entire organization top down even to the owner that You know what? We're playing to win So again, they may have lost that game But it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things because they're gonna be picking in the top 10 in the draft any way What does an extra win do for you?
It get to me it shows that The team is progressed I care about or tie I care about I care about winning I care about progression More than See but but but but you're you're solely basing progression on wins and losses and that's all I got no That's not all you got because you have a locker room full of men and how they feel is very important to the progression of that organization And there how they feel today is amazing It's a little bit more nuanced than wins and lost But I'm saying but it's nuanced because of the coach is culture for the last four to five years since angel Lux been hurt And since those those playoff runs he was doing early part of his career since then it's just more of I need to see something that keeps me Gives me hope as far as not only this this team but this quarterback because they haven't they've wasted They're easily by the time you think that they're gonna be ready They've wasted that much of time of his career as far as to be competitive and an easy division that he should be he should be the time Brady of his division he was You this will tie would have told you that tie is better than a loss They've been losing you just said they've been in the top 10 or top five for the last week They just pick up a Offensive lineman because of because of what you were saying It's hard you know why they've been that way and I'm saying a tie is better than a loss because at least I'm saying okay We didn't lose we didn't win but it was at least we were at least we were excited enough to not to not to lose But you know what though? I think there's more Contacts needed like that that whole game has much more in it than this loss because they were trailing by double digits By two scores in that game. They were gonna wallow all the more reason for you to take what you can take like but that's Breaking even isn't bad as if you were a business That's what you expected to do before you go on a problem But making a decision that the entire team stands behind regardless if you win or lose shows progression They stand behind it because they're football players. They want to fight their end to trenches They want to keep fighting until so But then how is that not progressing that that because as a head coach you have to you have to think like you just said long term long term And he he does his job isn't guaranteed either you see how much they've been switching coaches around for the Coaches are not for three years for three years.
I don't think so I don't think so if he if they have a lose you already soon They're gonna be top-tence they want to lose a record issue and they already know that next year they have a losing record You think he's gonna be so the head coach going into the 20 Yes, short leash. Yes, short leash. Yeah, and he's only gonna look back at it I should have one now No, no, that one game is gonna is not gonna define the same you don't count up the losses like there's this game He could want this game like it adds up It's not because at the end of the day to win in any professional sports team You have to have talent they haven't had talent outside of the quarterback position and I since he's been drafted So it is now his job to get number one talent there But but even before getting the talent you have to change the mindset and how do you change the mindset? The mindset is not just wins and losses like Ken said you need context and you need nuance being being a head coach It's a lot of it's a lot of mind games And especially when you're talking about grown ass men that make three times what you make Yeah, you know I'm saying because I was a head coach and I coach kids It's easy for me to say sit your finalize down you through four turnovers You're not playing no more it's easy as hell for me to say that and they ain't got nothing to say I'm three four or three times as old as you you know, they're saying and you ain't getting paid you trying to learn You need to humble yourself But in professional sports the first thing that any that they say positive about any leader is what he knows how to lead grown men Mm-hmm and this move that call and how you see people react after that says that he knows how to lead grown men When your franchise player Andrew look comes in the postgame press conference He's talking about you know I love the fact that he made the call I got to do a better job as a quarterback and make that throw because he's entrusted me everybody's entrusted me And I'm the one that messed up But I love that call and then you see everybody else every player come behind him saying the same thing that was more impactful than any win Or loss was the call and your luck is the one that should be held responsible to because he made up terrible throw and up and again That gives it that again that point of me questioning and you look my thing is that you said is better than to show us He is okay.
Okay, I can question a lot of quarterbacks As Sean Watson um my thing is this and this is my last point you're giving more slack to the coaches head coach than you are giving to The Jets head coach. I'm not because I've been completely objective on Todd Bowles I think that he should keep his job. I think he's doing a hell of a job However, however Todd Bowles we've already we've already put it on the table. He's at the town He don't have no talent number one tell me there's been that Nicole number two.
He's not an offensive guy look Andrew look And I can't what was what's the right right Frank right right? That's a pairing that can be had for the next however long and you look has in the league He that could be his head coach for that amount of time if you look at every successful quarterback right now in the NFL every single one Right that we're talking all-time great pantheon grades. They had they got that one coach Exactly, but let's check Brady Aaron Rodgers more so makes him but at the end of the day They you know it is what it is this is that guy for Andrew look it should have been Bruce Aaron That's how I was gonna ask you because my next question was like then why didn't like I was gonna ask you They already let a coach that had a rapport with Angela go those guys are gone Yeah, they're gone now however however the decision for the record for the record I was on this podcast years ago saying hey, I know Chupa Gano got cancer, but you fired at man you fired at man You sure do you will be a horrible human resource And I would I would have taken the backlash because you know what you know what cares everything winning Yeah, and if what we saw what Andrew looking Bruce your angel look was going for he was looking like this magic Unless you fire him with the cure to cancer you there's no way there's no way to get over that That's the same thing Ken said, but guess what we went right when we went in 13 and 3 and we're like after Super Bowl Say I was wrong. It was the right move to make but Frank Wright comes from where Philly Philly.
Yeah, what did he do with Carson? Where's the way doing folks? Oh, yeah, exactly. They ain't good.
They're in good hand. They're in good hand. You keep that in tap for right now Exactly at least and that's why we say he's safe. He's guaranteed for three.
He's guarantee for three because you're one It don't matter what you wanna do. It don't matter. They've been asked anyway without a right it don't matter coming off a injury to exactly year two Can you get talent right? So if you can if you can infuse this roster with talent, then we know that you are an evaluator We know that maybe you might be savvy just the same way Kansas City traded up to get my home You might make a savvy trade to go get you know I receive her or running back to somebody we never heard of and all of a sudden he pop you know saying that third year is when you Need to start getting those free agents being attractive destination for football right because you should have already infused talent in that second year That third year is the year that now we are able to truly evaluate and question everything that's happening with that organization same thing The same thing like okay see what from day one you was I believe I never needs to be out of here from day one Now you I don't think it was that hard on David Black But I've maintained consistency give these coaches two to three years before you could really grade them because the first year It doesn't matter if you're a head coach, right?
It depends on the situation you're going to but if you're going to like a rebuild You come on man, you can't somebody else's guys You know you haven't really had to off season to really get your guys you want to get yeah You can't grade me that first year that second year you need to see the difference third year is my year is my year is my year By that time much rapping guys you want it you got That you want to get you've already instilled your system your culture all of that stuff by that third year regardless of the professional sport is Is when it's fair to truly evaluate a head coach. Yes, just really get on so basketball You saw some preseason Before we get in there can we talk about that comment first in time somebody that One that I had that I just want to hear first thought to that because I left my ass off when I look here's the thing I mean he was right, but I mean come on There's two different perspectives on exactly if I'm on that Cleveland roster or part of that Cleveland organization He's supposed to say it right we haven't been a damn conference all these years right you know saying it come through us Yeah, but everybody else is like hey big bro is gone here exactly He ain't even little bro he said in cousin like preseason it is recent come on come on now two things can be true You were good in the past and your trash now. It's true. Yeah, but here's the thing do you think they're trash?
I don't think they're dumbster juice Like We know how I open east is it is I would say the nicks are better than the cabs right now You are tripping and I'm a I would say the next are tell me you're a Nick fan Yeah, I am an example, but I'm just but look at the roster look how they look at it still hurt So you might not play this Who has a better head coach I give you that I like this though better who has a better young talent He's not playing though, but I'm just talking about holistically. He's not playing so this year I'm saying I'm saying I'm just talking about the town right now Kevin Knox Kevin Knox is better, but then that's where the book stops because Frank Whatever he is I think it's a rapper. He I put it like this I like Kevin Knox as a prospect versus any young player that Cleveland has light years ahead and also Prasenius as well, but Prasenius is a playing K love is better than any player on the next roster Tristan Thompson is as good as Kevin Knox Today, no, he's not no, he's not I'll give you K love and always Tristan Tom says a plate of Professional basketball game. I don't need it.
I've seen enough to where I can say he Tristan Thompson even offensively score outside of kiddie free throw Line does it? That's not his position. You what he's a rebound. We talked about basketball before you said his position is basketball You have to at least be able to stretch the floor and shoot what is what about Tristan Thompson game that says that he's a part of this new era that you don't have to be a part of the new era You just have to be great at something and what Tristan is great at is offensive rebounding Rebounding in general that I've seen in lately lately Well, the last thing the last thing you look at numbers if you look at rebounding rate Tristan is always in the top five if you look at overall Rebound average Tristan's top five top seven every year I'm also if you look at offensive rebounding Tristan's in the top three so so so Tristan he doesn't necessarily fit this whole position His basketball space and pace and all of that crap But he does something that you have to pay for he does and you find a way to get a guy like that on the court So so to me today He's more valuable right now than every other piece outside of Prasenius and Kevin Knox for that next I'll be willing to bet money to next make or a better overall team.
Oh, I put it you like this Who do you think is gonna finish with a better record the next or the caps the next? Oh, okay, you know games you think they're gonna win more than the caps or just in total. I think they are 35 to 39 win team. Whoa, you think the cats are gonna win less than that?
Okay, you know what we don't come up with a sum off air I don't want people to know like they get in my pockets and stuff, but yeah, we're gonna make a way I'm just saying based off the the situation I really like that like granted. I'm not going off a much because the next culture has been more down than up But the way the fizzdell and the way that the general like everybody in the team from the president Gm down to the players that they've drafted and the way they've been talking about the the new schemes that they're gonna come Up with as far as to make sure you get the best players put them in the best position to win Honestly think I honestly think they're gonna be a they're gonna be a sleeper this season as far as in the East What did I say previous previously about head coaches and stuff? What years this with fizzdell in New York? This first year, right?
So as the New York head coach Is that an assistant when you take over an organization as a head coach that first year you cannot judge that head coach on that first year Because that first year is about culture. It's about instilling what we are going to be about what our identity is going to be right? He has 1000% a lot of work to do first of all your best player isn't probably gonna play the entire year You know what I'm saying? I hope he comes back, but if he doesn't I understand it.
He's too valuable He's too freakish in terms of seven three and doing everything you can do Hey, bro, you need to actually take it extra year because guess what we need to get a free agent anyway for us to do anything You're great, but you're just not there yet Kevin Knox. They drafted well love this draft pick um Frank whatever I can't say his last name. He's a big time. He's not he's not even gonna be starting It's Trey Burke who's gonna actually start exactly what I say and Trey Burke was balling like I Trey Burke doesn't hit the light switch, but Trey Burke at his best is our backup point guard in NBA if he is your star You're not doing not do it.
You're not a player. You're not a playoff team with him as just all that he was He's still young enough to where I can't say that because uh, yes, you say starting point guard who you compared I'm not talking about the elite. You know, I give you prime example. You know who I was super high on coming out of me No, you were I told you it was a I was high, but that's not the person I'm talking about the person that I was super super super high on when he came out of college Was Jared Bayless.
I thought he was gonna be great for Portland. Yeah, I'm back That's oh man. No, but but but the thing that I realized real quick with Jared was that his ceiling isn't high Jared Bayless rookie Year is not that different than Jared Bayless now the difference is his experience He was still a great shooter. You still can attack you off the dribble.
Yeah, I think you you know I'm saying but that ceiling is low just like Trey Burke the ceiling is low. How much better is Trey Burke gonna get what else can he do? Right? He can improve as far as play making ability and he can improve as far as I know you know, it's not exactly making ability.
He just had one. Yeah, let's see the season here. Look I don't know if you hoop like that. You've been lethal for years already.
Yep, and he's been on three different squats Yeah, I don't know if you hoop like Kyle. I was bouncing around Lee before he found home in Toronto Yeah, he became also at once he hit that once he found the right system But you know what we knew about Kyle our his entire career. He was a volume shooter Yeah, and it was only gonna be a matter of time before he puts up 20 points again But but until then it got whatever just like anybody who's winning whatever you doing if it ain't broke Don't fix it. It got on to that point where he's all sorry.
He ain't gonna stop doing it now But but but all I'm saying is is that Trey Burke. There's not much room for him to get better He's already improved as a three-point shooter an overall shooter since he came out of Michigan You know I'm saying playmaking is is part experience, but it's it's a lot of looking natural ability. Look at Ricky Rubio He's improved as a player from from when he started to now. There's only one thing that he's improved was that shooting One thing that's an improvement.
I mean what he's saying is that the ceiling is low and that has been that much of an improvement Right, it's not like he's a John Stockton. I'm saying I'm saying I'm just talking about improvement to be better than what you were coming in Of course and I'm giving you part of that playoff run I'm giving you that Trey Burke has improved what I'm saying is is that where he can improve attribute wise He's maxed out. He can't get much better than what it is right now. Don't sleep on the next issue How many I mean when is he think he said 39 I said between 35 39 They are for six or six to ten wins plus than what they did last year and they're not a better They went 29 and 53 last year.
I think they're gonna be a seven seat. I think the I think the cab I think the cab's gonna be eighth at best. No, no, no, they're play off and why do you think they're play off to me? Because they still have a lot of experience on that squad love.
Mm-hmm. Tristan has been to a very nice day Larry Lance Clarkson. I said cock or I didn't mention those two guys. No, just bring up.
Yeah, you said experience I'm sorry. I was named a player who's a yard JR George Georgia Name is some Neanderthals at this point. Come on. But the thing is is that these guys have made it to the playoffs They know what it takes to make it to the playoffs with who the greatest player in the world right now.
I understand that and now the But the East is wide open they were a fourth fifth seed with LeBron What do you think they're gonna be without them? I feel you and a whole bunch of teams have have pretty look they almost lost game 7 to Indiana We have to sell things and fairly pretty much in half of that is wide open wide open wide open you have to run to the end Oh, you have the books. You have um paces. Yeah, the paces You got wizards the wizards.
Yes, you got you know pistons. You got one it's you got nicks the net's bull's magic Hoss to me kind of wide open. Yeah, after them three teams They got an easy top six though, right? Yeah, but the cabs are the top the cop let me look at every quick So to me the calves are on pace with The calves are you picking up the wizard saying I got you I got you.
I think the calves are on the same wavelength as the pistons the Hornets And they're better than everybody else. That's not already in the playoffs. So they're better than the Hawks They're better than the magic. They're better than the bulls.
Even though I think the bulls are gonna surprise a lot of people this year I'm definitely better than the nets. I think they're better than the nicks So the Raptors are Celtics the 76ers the Pacers and the Bucks and the Wizards are the only ones I'm so there's only two Play all things outside of that. Mm-hmm I think the calves are one of them as eighth and I think the next could be seven not because because to me I see I see the calves And I see the bulls. I think the bulls are gonna sneak in there and do some things.
That's only a Parker's day I think I think Parker's the huge reason of their success. Whatever they success Well, here's the thing I think I think Jabari's a big pick up for them But I think bigger or more impactful than Jabari's Lori marketing and the progression he makes also in the draft do from Duke Center yeah, when they'll go to yeah, I like him too But I think Lori and Zach Levine are the engines that really propelled him and I don't know if you know me I'm a basketball fan. I watch all everything in the summer all this all that I don't know if you guys have been seen was actually means been doing in all these program leads and stuff like that Oh, oh man, two years man. It bounces back the jumper that handles physically.
He's girthier. You know, I think you're some damage Yeah, he coming off of what a seal. Yeah, you're going back about a seal He played last year, but you could tell you know, he was a father This year he looks ready. I don't know if you're seen I know I sent it to y'all the picture of Lori marketing getting smaller You know to me the Bulls Court are those two guys and then everything else Jabari's nice But Jabari got to show he could stay healthy boy.
There's no I'm just saying like he's their ex back like if Jabari can And I'll give you their ex-factor cuz I don't think it's him. You don't think it's him. What do you think is done? Yep, I think he's done I Didn't like him I don't think I don't think I don't think that was a great breath I don't think I was a good draft pick at all from Minnesota I don't think it was the top five.
Yeah, first of all, I think you bugging I think that it was perfect for Minnesota at the time in the youth movement and what happened Sometimes sometimes it takes you a little while to get your feet up under you and he's battled a lot of nagging injuries I think that this is the reason why I'm saying the Bulls are Scored us to they got port is a big white boy they got last year Lori marketing. Yeah, he's hurt But you know another player I really like for them is Justin holiday lengthy perimeter oriented I love the I love the one he was at the next I think he was a perfect guy for you I think I think the Bulls sneak into the playoffs. I think they're 8th I think the Pistons miss it. I think because this is just my prediction and I can take it Oh, you think Blake Griffin the cancer?
No, no, I like Blake Griffin I just think that that team is gonna be traded away by mid-season I think Johnny Johnson is out of there like you're with me. Hey, yo, you see Andrew drumming shooting threes Actually every man has to I was a guy to I put it you like this, you know which big man I think is gonna take the biggest leap in terms of shooting three pointers. Myles Turner you heard it here first Myles, yeah, right? Yeah, I was gonna say he had a bad sophomore year Not bad it wasn't Yeah, yeah, he was pretty much the same I'll say cancer cancer what he's gonna be like three point big man three I Seasoned training and I'm not saying I mean LeBron's nemesis The LeBron killer Can't be doing nothing different that he's done his rebounding and putting back yep But the thing with myles Turner you're gonna see him take the get the rebound push it and hit more pull-up threes really tell you It's gonna be ridiculous.
Why do you say that? Based off of what I seen also what I seen him training What what he's trying to add to his game? He's trying to add that three point pull-up shot to his game I seen him playing the Rico Hines you see a lay runs this summer and I feel that you know You could get a lot of what the players are trying to actually work on in their games And that's what Rico actually tells him, you know, he's like hey It's not about you know just the wins and losses It's about working on your game and being better today than you were yesterday And what I see myles Turner do was grab rebound dribble dribble dribble pull up three I'm the what the hell is this because he had the range we know he can wide open three points out like Chris Bosch and K love and a lot of the other big men that started expanding their range after their first second year in the league But how many have we seen him do it off the dribble? So that's what he's adding He's adding the off the dribble three which is going to be a big problem for big men to guard that I liked him as a rookie I was expecting big things better things from him.
You'll see it this year. You'll see your house They got through who your house they got through Oh, how say cuz that's oh high old state. Um, nah, just football. I just like a brand of football What have you seen out of the Lakers so far?
The Lakers there's a lot of talk. That's what I'm saying. What do you mean? Please explain I see a lot of talk as far as I feel like people really think they are gonna be like Western Conference good They are they're tough, but we started that talk first.
No, I'm just saying No, I don't I think they'll make the playoffs, but they're not come they're not competing for a championship No, I'm saying people think it's gonna be in the Warriors I think I said they were going to the West to come as final. Yeah, that's what he said. No, depending on who they match up I say second round exit at the best They played Warriors. Yeah, yeah, depending on where they see that they can see the words in second round I'm just saying the way the way the water rock the headlines have been or like the people the pieces that I've been reading It's just like a lot of people are like really optimistic about this like they think LeBron is gonna be like okay We got the brown we good like we see what he did in Cleveland think about what you do in Gromcoos, uh Go ahead and I just say yeah, you I mean magic know that they not ready yet.
They about a year or two away No, I'm just about it I saw most of the opposite so that must that must be new because most people were picking up not even make the playoffs remember I mean yeah, I think I think the thing is is that when you have LeBron he's so polarizing that it can literally swing anyway But if we're if we're being completely honest and objective and thinking rationally when you add LeBron to any team you're gonna make the playoffs Okay, that's just what you that's what you're gonna do when I watch them play. I saw their first preseason game They look like they're gonna be LeBron's centric again Um, I saw everything away from that I saw everything go through that's it. That's what that's what I know is saying but it is easier to say I know make some hell of a pass He did of course, but I think I think that for LeBron to be at his great He kind of has to you know create the plays that the ball has to go through him It has to be LeBron centric point again I think he'll do it less because I know that he respects Rondo so much And I think just you know if he's trying to get on the same page with Lonzo like he's LeBron has to know He has to score more than creating plays because he has a lot of guys that could create plays You got Lance to make you dance he's a playmaker you got um rondo You got Lonzo, you know, obviously you got LeBron LeBron just needs to understand more so when to pick and choose his spots versus Always being LeBron Basically saying he has to step back a little bit. No what I'm saying is is that he needs to focus on scoring a little bit more than he does Playmaking um and that's his game and I understand that and that's and that's why I'm saying I don't know if he can do that with the way that this roster is constructed Because you have both of your point guards are pass first point guards You know what I'm saying?
And I showed y'all a clip about a couple weeks ago Remember when kd was saying that i'm a natural born scorer I need a point guard to rock with right any any top score needs a guy that can get him easier shots Because if you're a scorer in the NBA guess what you could create your own all day You could cook anybody but what makes you that that much greater of a scorer is getting five to seven Easier shots that you don't have to work for because your your point guard or your playmaker on that squad created them for you Right? It makes the game easier for you. LeBron is the opposite in the sense that he for him to be at his best He needs to create plays for other people and what I'm saying is based off of the personnel You would think that LeBron needs to score a little bit more and stop worrying about the playmaking of the playmaking a Responsibilities, but we'll see you so you think in his in this like as quote-unquote final chapter of his career He's gonna become more of a ska with this squad Do you think he's game is this game? Do you see him as a school?
Like do you see him as a I think he could do that? I think he has the skill set to do that. I just don't know if it's naturally no No, just naturally right like it doesn't matter how much you try to change you're always gonna go back to naturally what you do in a Heat of the moment. I'm high school.
You know, so so can Luke try to do that. Yeah, but guess what happens when it becomes in the toughest moments He's gonna be a playmaker. He's gonna make a right basketball play versus trying to score right? But at the end of the day, I think that they'll be fine.
They're gonna be a playoff team I think that they're really playing for next offseason trying to get KD AD whoever like that So that way they can make the jump because right now the way that this roster is constructed I don't see him doing that. However, you remember how we were having a slight discussion does this hamper Random in the young guys from progressing. No, I don't know how much of the first game you saw But Luke is instilling a lot of those pin downs a lot of those curls a lot of you see a lake has a lot of back doors And who's who's a better guy to make those passes than LeBron? So So I see LeBron actually improving and getting Brandon Ingram's of the world and some of those other the um arts The dash hearts the council knows of the world.
No, it was interesting about that when Javille McGee went out and it was like They had a cools-moplane like center. I think it's like I think they said it was gonna try to try that. That's gonna be interesting They have you know, Luke Luke has a lot of options You know saying in terms of trying to figure out what best small ball lineup is gonna work out there Because he has a lot of interchangeable parts because you can go like big small You can put lands at the one you know saying with brawn josh har Brandon Ingram and couse my out there You can go small you go lonzo rondo um kcp brawn and beesley like there's a lot of different things that that that luke walter has in the tool shed right now And I think that it's gonna be interesting two things How which line-ups he plays and when and why and also who's gonna be the closing lineup? It doesn't matter the starting lineup on the squad It's who's gonna close out the game and I have a sneaky suspicion rondo's gonna get a lot of those minutes and lonzo and big ball Brand into daddy is gonna be talking and having some some issues with that so you heard of here first Don't be surprised if rondo gets traded by it's easy Well, I won't I won't go that far because they've invested a lot of draft capital in them Yeah, and they don't want to get slapped by mellow And it's something I see once he's removed as far as his rookie season so I think it's oh they got rid of the answer What's that wasn't but yeah, because he was a snitch though.
That's what it was You can't have that of course, but but what I came back down to culture and when you're trying to recreate culture You can't have nothing like that. But I think what I think the lonzo situation I put it to you like this it really comes down to how he plays he plays well He could play with brawn and he and he's showing that he's had some girls more consistency with the jumper Which they say that was been rebuilt. I I agree with what lonzo said. Did you see what he said on media day?
He said he got stronger. So therefore his shot looks quicker, but he didn't really change it Selling He's a business man. I do like what um What what LeBron said and I'm really curious to see what brand ingrown do this year because what he's saying Well, they asked him about the different players. He said, you know, lonzo.
What do you think about lonzo? He was like I can't remember what he said about lonzo, but um He said like lance is tough or something like that But when he got to brand ingrown, he said look out and that's all he said So I don't know what that I mean we can infer what it means, but it was an interesting thing to say about brandon ingrown Um look out. So that means he's saying some things from him in practice that we haven't seen and he has high expectations for brand ingrown I know we I was about to say because you know, I caught some flack for talking great about brand ingrown because Like the paul jorja is the co-wis of the world the man started single digit scoring rookie year You know, I'm saying every year he's gotten higher to this year, you know, just seeing him in preseason He last year when I saw him in preseason, I said he still looks like a deer in the headlights He's still like oh like like the things are too fast for him, but you watch him now It's settled down and he it feels like he's so much more comfortable with the game And then now you add a guy like LeBron that wants to get you easier shots and make the game easier for you So all you like all of the decisions are taking off of you and all you have to do is just score and get buckets And you are literally the the other version of kd physically and just go get buckets I think he might be looking at random ingrown as this team's karee Even though we've had opportunities to see it with karee way before so karee had a chance to break out We haven't seen the breakout from brand ingrown. I think he might be seeing his version This team he could be this team's version of karee.
Oh, yeah He might look at him more as he kind of looks at him like he sees a little bit of a version of himself Branding me. No, I'll do so as far as potential wise No, I think I think as far as more of a more offensively minded version of he was a filly No, but I'm just saying no because I mean Mense him is obviously is just like him. So he does he just has to work on the jump shot Like he's the bronber I think he sees I think everybody has high hopes for brand ingrown because everybody talks about brand ingrown ceiling as like he could be like An all-star, you know, one of the best one of the best players in the league If he puts it all together and if you look at his numbers He kind of is a little bit of a all-around player like he can rebound he can assist He can obviously score a little bit and I think he wants to cater to that and help mold that to where he can say like I You know, I'm taking in his brother. He's gonna be like you said that big brother a little bit of profile like what he's trying to do with Kyrie, you know, that is your father you He's trying to he's trying to mold you try because everybody every great person wants a little produce a and I think that's what he's Trying to do with Branding anyone.
I read a beat up a curry. Yeah, I'm a man I'm a man. He should have carried more like I'm Batman. You're Robin.
I think he looks at Ingram is more like Some more something better than that. No LeBron is always Batman. Everybody's robbing to know I'm just saying like he looked at he like You ain't gonna ever be like I think LeBron looks like K. D.
I way I think LeBron looks at everybody else in the NBA It says all of you are secondary to me. I don't know I think he might get more respect to Katie You mean to tell me that you think that LeBron considers Katie above him? Hell no, no, I think he looks at him as like an equal though Yeah, just as you can tell me he ain't a little Katie and equal to LeBron I'm not no no no no no because he was he's maybe you're asking Rob if you're asking Fifo. Yes, if you're asking LeBron me being LeBron, of course.
Hell no, of course. Yeah Because LeBron in the back of his mind knowing he was like you had to go to the 73 and 19 just to beat me Yeah, and so you had to go to Miami It's not apples the orange and also also who works out with LeBron in the offseason Katie LeBron are gonna nobody well. He's gone to the Thing is is that LeBron doesn't work with active NBA players to get tips and tricks from them They work with him and cool LeBron goes to seek out is the Hakeem Elijah one of the Colby Brimes in the world guys That I have already played the game guys that are considered greater than LeBron right now You know saying so you know it is what it is But at the end of the day with the Lakers in their season. They're definitely a playoff team was when did you uh did they move up?
As the season gets closer as far as they're seating in the plane. I think they're gonna be four five or six. Yep I think I think there's seven eight one of those I think they're four through seven I think I think it is highest for again. We could forget about the Spurs.
You know what man look I forget about the Spurs Oh, you said 30 no, I know he said the Lakers Okay Season games are here, you know all this football talk is gonna dwindle we're gonna get into We got two weeks yeah I Can and I guess we'll talk a little baseball thing the wild cars will be settled I got the athletics winning and I had to come when they were losing when I checked earlier So you mean it's only that we're gonna dab a little bit in the basketball. We're gonna talk about the folks who jump shot I was gonna mention that when you mention lonzo jump shot and I still I still I looked at the video I was I wait till the season, but I'm gonna press Marco. Yes, man. You know speaking of speaking of my code the Season kickoff night October 16 double header first game at eight for the up six is in Boston and Second game is thunder at Warriors Tences we're gonna have second and Barkley and them the crew on today night October 16 I put it to you like this Nick Mark Hill is not a natural-born shooter No, he's not like I just even even before the injury when he was at Washington I just I watched them and I just he could shoot but you could just tell was it natural you know saying however It's good enough and it complements his skill set to the point where I Understand why Brett Brown put him in the start of mine up and he's not going anywhere And you know how a lot of media people were questioning has Philly done enough to get better Yes, they have because it came from within yes It would have been amazing to son LeBron Paul George one of these free agents because it would have just even expedited their process even faster You know last year I said it was super big for them to get to the playoffs and to lose how they lost because I always say every young team Gotta take they lumps right they took their lumps in the second round.
Yeah, it's a boss. That was good Great it was great that they got there is great that they lost It was better that they lost versus them winning and actually playing Cleveland and potentially beating clean I'm telling you either way this year Mark Hill folks is the reason why they can possibly get past Boston I'm not saying that they will I think Boston is still deeper and more experienced top-bottom But it is more possible right now leave if it's leave go up like we think it goes yes I put it you like this I think and these are just numbers are throwing out there But it's truly what I believe I think that Ben Simmons is barely gonna get 14 points again I think it's gonna be 12 to 14, but I think he's gonna average 12 assists 11 assists man. I think he's gonna be up there Yeah, I think he's like 13. Yeah, because I don't know if y'all saw the first game the man on the place 17 minutes at 14 It's this is anyone even trying like it was crazy saying he's the Assist leader of the city and NBA he's gonna be up there I'm not gonna wholeheartedly say that but I think he'll definitely be up there He'll be top three this year.
I think it's gonna be it's gonna be a race between him and Rondo Yeah, well we it depends if Rondo start tonight if Rondo don't start then I don't think the Lakers will be smart to start Rondo for See I feel differently, but you know, that's a different conversation for another day But I think the reason why I love Mark Hill so much and that's starting line up if you saw that shit They had shooting right shooting wasn't a problem for them But when you have Ben Simmons, right then you're two minutes JJ then you got Robert Covington d'Arreal Sarwich and Joellen beat at the five your two true playmakers are dwelling being in Ben Simmons and what happens to the offense when those guys attack and Drop and kick out if those guys don't shoot it's a wrap You have to find Joelle or Ben Simmons again now when you put Mark Hill into that starting lineup and that that that kick comes out And it goes to Markelle. He doesn't have a wide open shot What does he do he can make a play not only to score for himself but to get somebody else involved? They didn't have that they didn't have a secondary playmaker right after the two primary guys They just didn't have it now they have it and if this guy can be consistent mid-range because you know We got you know he got the layup package You know he got the floater You know he could get to the lane how and when he wants to do with the spin move with the hops up with the D Wade over your head dribble all that he got all that but now he can hit the mid-range and hopefully consistently make a Three or that's that's a major problem because the way Boston played them defensively last year. They can't do that now Now against Ben you haven't seen it you saying that like you've seen it in-game Did you that's why I was asking you did you not see Mark L I'm talking the last game preseason.
