Tales of crashed UFOS; ghost apparitions; marauding monsters; and everything in between – you name it, they’re all here. But perhaps the most unnerving of all these mysteries are the true stories of crimes and deaths that even up to now, the secrets can’t still be explained. Here are 5 eerie unsolved mysteries from the Lone Star State.5. The Murders at Orchard ApartmentIn 1979, people from around the state and the country flock towards Houston to take part of its oil boom. Most of these newcomers were young people who had been looking to build their fortune in the bustling Bayou City. However, it didn’t take long before their dreams turn to nightmare. In July of that same year, a co-worker of Alys Rankin went to pick her up from her Orchard Apartment home in southwest Houston. Bob Smith, Rankin’s co-worker, found the door to the apartment slightly open.4. The Servant Girl AnnihilatorThe Servant Girl Annihilator committed a string of murders in Austin, Texas between 1884 and 1885. Police tied eight known victims to the unknown perpetrator whose modus operandi was to enter women’s homes and knock them unconscious. The suspect would then drag the victims outside of their homes and then proceed to murder them outdoors using an ax.3. The Amber Hagerman CaseOne of the most disturbing murder cases to ever come from Texas pertains to the kidnapping and eventual murder of Amber Hagerman. It gained worldwide attention that it even prompted officials to create an alert system intended for missing persons aptly called Amber Alert. It all started on January 13, 1996 when the 9-year-old was seen biking along the neighbourhood streets. A neighbour saw someone in a pickup truck pull up and snatch Amber. The little girl screamed, which impelled Jim Kevil, the neighbour, to call the police.2. The Brutal Murder of Megan CurlThe murder of Megan Curl is thought to be one of the most gruesome crimes ever committed in the Lone Star State simply because of its sheer brutality. In the early morning of March 26, 2000, members of the Lufkin Fire Department arrived to put out a fire at Fox Run Apartments. Right after the firefighters extinguished the fire, they recovered the body of the 26-year-old woman. 1. The Austin Yogurt Shop Quadruple MurderDecember 6th of 1991, an Austin police officer on patrol saw fire coming from I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt! – a local yogurt shop. Calls were made and the fire was put out. However, things went to a horrifying turn when fire and police investigators found charred bodies of four young girls, with ages between 13 and 17. Amy Ayers, Jennifer Harbison, her sister Sarah, and Eliza Thomas, were found naked, bound, and gagged with their own clothing.Support the show Learn more about your ad choices. I'm Patti and it's been said - many times - that I talk too much. I'm a teacher, author, nature lover and for ten years I owned a coffeehouse cafe where my faith in the goodness of humans was restored every day. This podcast highlights the awesomeness of humanity - er...outside the warmongers, globalists, tyrants and politicians in general. You know, the rest of us weird, quirky and sometimes hilarious humans. We'll talk woo, probe mysteries and leave you thinking about something more interesting or entertaining or uplifting than your grocery list, or boss or that oil change your car needs. I talk too much because I can't help my Gemini moon and Leo Rising nature. I do a podcast because it's cheaper, funnier and more productive than therapy.  EXPLORE WITH US Explore With Us If you love true crime and mysteries, you will love this podcast!
