5. How location and values influence your habits and routines

from The Habit Thrive Podcast ~ Self Care Habits, Mindfulness & Wellness Routines for Women 50 & Beyond · host Lorrie Mickelson, Habits & Self Care

Key phrases: developing habits and routines creating habits and routines Why are habits important Where do you add the greatest value in life Make you feel more fulfilled Did you know that where you are - in the world, in your life, in the seasons, or even in your day - are all factors that can help you in developing habits and routines? Where are you living right now? Where are your ancestors from? What stage of life are you in? These are all important things to consider when creating habits and routines. This week, on Episode 5 of the Habit Thrive Podcast, I want you to think about your own personal filters: Your geographic location, age, stage of life and other background information that all affect what you need and value most in life. Last week, we pondered two questions: What do I want more of? and What do I want less of? Now, we're going to add two new questions: What are my values? and What do I value? As you ponder these questions, write down your answers and ideas on how to integrate these values into your life. Because, when your values line up with your daily life, you will notice an immediate happiness, congruence and synchronicity. Your values may include compassion and kindness, while you value community and family. In this case, volunteering at a local food bank, helping clear litter on a roadway or walking dogs at an animal shelter may make you feel more fulfilled. Or you may find value in your alone time listening to music, while your core values include spirituality and attentiveness. Try connecting to music through Spotify or Alexa. You could even tap into your desire to be more outgoing and attend some concerts, which is something I have incorporated into my new chapter. If music speaks to you, I recommend “Something More” by Sugarland. It has a great message that really jives with the spirit of this podcast! As always: Keep being you, nobody else does you better than you! Lorrie Loving the show? Let’s connect!
