#5 - How We Will Study The Word

In this episode I share how we will approach reading, studying and interpreting Scripture as we move forward on the podcast. We will follow this process for a biblical hermeneutic, or means of interpretation: * First, we will seek to understand the cultural, historical and literary context of the what is being studied. * Next, we then go the Bible and observe what it says - keeping in mind its context - by making note, especially of its genre and literary nature. * Lastly, armed with the observations concerning the authors message and intent for their original audience, we then seek to draw a bridge to OUR present circumstances and apply it to our lives. When we fail to follow this process through, we risk taking verses out of context and - in doing so - risk missing exactly what God wants to teach us. Remember, his desire is that we read, understand and apply it to our lives SO THAT we look more and more like Jesus, who himself is the perfect embodiment of what a human should be like, living in righteousness and pursuing holiness.
