There’s a lot of advice about traveling to Iceland, and not all of it is helpful. When people assume “freezing,” they often overpack or misunderstand what conditions they’re really preparing for. Myth 2: “You need extreme winter clothing” Many travelers assume they need expedition-level gear just to survive Iceland, which leads to overpacking and overspending. In reality, what matters most is layering properly, not wearing the heaviest gear possible. Waterproof and windproof layers are far more important than bulky items. Dressing smartly, not excessively, makes travel easier, more comfortable, and more flexible.
