#5: Independence Day: Resurgence

from General Snobbery | Film and Philosophy · host General Snobbery

Roland Emmerich strikes again with Independence Day: Resurgence, the much-anticipated sequel to the 1996 generation-defining film, Independence Day. In this special episode, Matt and Sean rendezvoused in the physical plane to see this laugh-out-loud comedy in a theater of St. Louis, Missouri (a city whose landmark Arch thankfully escaped the wrath of both films). We entered the theater, days after the big-budget film's release, to discover that despite our extreme excitement, no other patrons were present for the screening. An omen? Or an indication that the mass population does not understand the truth? Join us as we snob about the likes of Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Will Smith, stock characters, and an African, machete-wielding warlord to find out the answer.
