Hello from CNN, I'm Akolm with DK, with the 5 things you need to know for Wednesday, November 8th. Today UN Chief Antonio Boutedes raised concerns about Israel's military operation against Hamas in an interview with Reuters. When one looks at the number of civilians that were killed with military operations, there is something that is clearly wrong. He pointed out the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and its need for aid, while calling for the hostages held by Hamas to be freed.

Human Rights Watch is calling for Israel's strike on an ambulance, outside Gaza's biggest hospital earlier this month, to quote, be investigated as a possible war crime. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in Gaza, the strike killed at least 15 people and wounded 60 others. The Israeli military didn't respond to CNN's queries about Human Rights Watch, but previously said the ambulance was being used by Hamas, and has maintained that it's following international law, and only striking legitimate military targets in Gaza. Despite the casualties, White House official John Kirby says U.S.

officials don't support a ceasefire at this time, because they believe it would benefit Hamas. A ceasefire not only gives them time to plan and execute, but it legitimizes what they started on October 7th, and that's unacceptable to President Biden. Ivanka Trump was on the stand in New York today, as the fate of her family's business empire hangs in the balance. She's no longer a defendant, and the New York Attorney General's $250 million civil lawsuit against her father, her brothers, and their family business.

The Trump men are being accused of inflating the value of their assets to secure better loans, but they deny wrongdoing. Ivanka Trump spent more than three hours answering questions about some deals she's worked on at the Trump Organization. She faced questions about financing loans for the Doral Resort in Florida, with emails showing she proposed lowering her father's net worth requirement, under a loan agreement with Deutsche Bank. Ivanka also said she didn't know why there was an over $12 million discrepancy in the valuation of a Trump Park Avenue penthouse she leased.

The AG said Ivanka Trump is the final witness her office plans to call in the case. Defense lawyers started cross-examining Ivanka by walking through how happy the banks were loaning money to the Trump Organization. The FDA has officially approved using a type 2 diabetes drug for weight loss. Doctors have already been prescribing it off-label for that purpose.

When used for diabetes, the drug is called Manjaro, while for weight loss management, it'll be called Zetbound. The FDA said the main side effects of the drug are gastrointestinal issues, like nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. Made by Eli Lilly, Zetbound is part of a new class of drugs, like Wigobi and Ozempic, that have become extremely popular for weight loss in recent years. A potential strike across nine casinos on the Las Vegas trip may be avoided.

After hours of negotiating, Speezer's Entertainment and a union representing casino workers reached a tentative deal. The union announced it on X, formerly known as Twitter. Members of the culinary union include kuts, bartenders, waitstaff, and housekeepers. The deal will be presented to union members, who'll decide whether to approve it.

Earlier this week, a union official told CNN that improvements to pay and benefits are central issues, along with job security. Nine other Las Vegas casinos that still see walkouts Friday. Negotiations with MGM Resort International were set to happen today, and talks with Wynn Resorts are set for Thursday. The world is struggling to meet a key climate goal.

More on that next. Hey, welcome back. By the end of the decade, the world's fossil fuel production is said to be more than double than the level needed to meet key climate goals. Almost eight years ago, countries around the world signed off on the Paris Accords, promising to limit average temperature rises to less than two degrees Celsius, above pre-industrial levels.

But while scientists say the world must have fossil fuel use to meet that goal, countries have failed to reach an international agreement on how to phase off coal, gas, or oil. The report comes ahead of the COP28 climate meeting, that starts later this month in the UAE. Re-reducing fossil fuels is expected to be a top issue. Thanks for listening.

We'll be back at 10 p.m. Eastern.
