from Flight to Fulfilment with Ratika Seth · host Ratika Seth
Send us Fan MailHave you ever wondered why you sometimes return to the very things you know aren’t good for you?The same kind of relationship. The same emotional dynamic. The same habit of over-giving. The same environment that drains you. Sometimes even the same kind of person who leaves you questioning yourself. You know the pattern. You’ve lived the ending before. And yet, there can be something strangely comforting about it.Then something different enters your life.Someone is consistent with you. A relationship doesn’t require chasing. An opportunity comes without an exhausting struggle. You finally have space to rest. Life becomes a little quieter. And instead of feeling relieved...you feel unsettled. You question it. You look for what might go wrong. Sometimes you even feel tempted to return to the chaos you were so desperate to escape. Why?Because familiarity and safety are not the same thing—but emotionally, we can sometimes confuse the two.Hello beautiful soul,Welcome back to another honest and deeply reflective episode of the Flight to Fulfillment Podcast, where we explore emotional awareness, self-worth, relationships, and the hidden patterns that quietly influence the choices we make.I’m your host, Ratika Seth, Life Enhancement Coach and founder of the Freedom Divas Hub, a community where women reconnect with themselves, rebuild self-trust, and create lives rooted in freedom, self-respect, and conscious choice.Today, I want to talk about something we often misunderstand:The feeling of comfort. We tend to assume that if something feels comfortable or natural, it must somehow be right for us.But sometimes comfort simply means:“I recognise this.”“I know how this works.”“I know who I need to be here.”Repeated experiences teach us what to expect. And what we can predict may sometimes feel easier to navigate than something completely new—even when the familiar pattern itself isn’t particularly good for us.That’s why a woman who has spent years over-giving may feel terribly guilty when she finally starts saying no.Someone accustomed to inconsistent affection may find herself questioning a person who is simply consistent.A woman who has lived under pressure for years may finally get a free afternoon and discover that she has absolutely no idea how to relax into it.And if you’ve spent much of your life proving your worth, being appreciated without having to over-perform can feel surprisingly uncomfortable. Not because the healthier experience is wrong. But because you don’t have the same emotional history with it yet.And this is where personal growth can become confusing. You can miss something you know wasn't good for you.You can feel guilty after setting a perfectly reasonable boundary. You can distrust peace simply because you are more accustomed to uncertainty. You can even mistake emotional intensity for connection because calmness doesn't produce the feelings you're used to experiencing. That doesn’t mean every uncomfortable new situation is healthy, of course. Discomfort can sometimes be useful information, and genuine warning signs should never be dismissed simply because something is unfamiliar. But it does mean we need a better question than:“Does this feel comfortable?”Perhaps we need to ask:“Is this actually good for me?”Because what feels natural today may simply be what you have practised for years. And something healthier may initially require you to learn a completely different way of being.A different way of loving.A different way of receiving.A different way of setting boundaries.A different way of resting.Maybe even a different understanding of what peace feels like.So today, we’re exploring 5 reasons familiar can feel safe even when it isn’t, why healthier choices can sometimes feel uncomfortable at first, and how to recognise when you’re being pulled back towards something because it is truly right for you—or simply because you already know how to survive it.More Power To All!Follow me onInstagram Facebook YoutubeLinkedInFor any information, write to me on [email protected] know more, visit my website www.ratikaseth.comMuch Gratitude!Ratika Seth
