5. The Gift: Christmas Eve

This weekend our Christmas series called THE GIFT culminates in our Christmas Eve services. Our grand finale for this series is Christmas Eve when we celebrate the coming of Jesus. He came in humility and with little recognition. The world was unaware that God himself was coming to live among us on that quiet night in Bethlehem. Born of a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, the gift, came to change our world forever. This Gift would usher in a new era, a new covenant between God and man. This gift, who was God himself, would come bringing a new birth, he would come full of gracious truth, and ultimately he would come to take our sin away. And so on this Christmas Eve we learn the significance of this gift and what we must do to receive the gift. Jesus, makes the offer of a relationship, a connection with our Father in heaven. We can walk with the God who created us. We can lose that feeling of being alone or isolated, the eerie sense that there is more to this life. Something is missing but what is it? Jesus said that what was missing in our lives was the forgiveness needed to be the children of God we were created to be. We have a Father in Heaven and we were made in his image.
