50 Forgotten Cardinals #8: Should Slim Salle be in the Hall of Fame???

On this episode of 50 Forgotten Cardinals, author Will Saulsbery and co-host Wes Wingate shine a spotlight on the great Slim Sallee and his colorful time in St. Louis. With amazing numbers that made him one of the Deadball Era’s standout pitchers, Sallee also had a known propensity for drink—and a habit of visiting a certain “social club” to “exercise his rights as a member.” Did he perhaps enjoy his liquor a little too much? Join us as we explore the highs, the habits, and the legacy of one of St. Louis baseball’s unforgettable arms.
