#50 | Postpartum Mini: You're Not Going Crazy, It's Probably Postpartum Anxiety

from Down to Birth

Hi everyone! In this Postpartum Mini episode Cynthia talks about Postpartum Anxiety, which is four times more common than Postpartum Depression, though it technically falls under the same umbrella. Postpartum anxiety can affect anyone (even fathers and parents who adopt), and is a function of how intensely bonded you are to your baby. The problem is, most people don't know about it. And if you experience intrusive thoughts - like being terrified you'll drop the baby down the staircase, or that your baby will experience a freak accident that you keep playing over and over in your mind - you just might think you're going crazy when you're not. In this episode, Cynthia describes some ways postpartum anxiety can manifest, why it can occur and what can be done about it. Please share this episode with any postpartum moms you know, because they just might be suffering from this condition (almost all parents do to some extent) and they're probably living with it in silence.
