50 - The Smashing Machine
from Raised By Video
In The Smashing Machine, Dwayne Johnson does something truly shocking—he disappears into a role. Whether it’s a completely successful disappearance is up for debate … The Doggett brothers talk about The Rock’s most human performance yet, Emily Blunt being (as always) the best thing on screen, and whether this movie successfully dodges biopic clichés or barrels right through them. Plus, we debate whether Johnson’s performance deserves Oscar buzz or if the prosthetics should get their own credit. Listen now for a breakdown of the controversial movie that might just prove Dwayne Johnson’s “serious actor” bone fides. The Smashing Machine is a 2025 biographical sports drama film written, directed, produced, and edited by Benny Safdie. It stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Ryan Bader, and Bas Rutten.
