Gerard stak eerder iemand dood in jeugdgevangenis Den Hey-Acker in Breda en ook in de PI in Vught ging hij weer in de fout. Hijzelf, maar ook de maatschappij, zou zijn gebaat bij een snelle behandeling. Verslaggever Cor Bouma zag hem geboeid en zwaarbewaakt in de Bossche rechtbank.
