51. How to Be Present in the Moment and a More Mindful Listener with Jessica Crow

from Electric Ideas with Whitney Baker: Motherhood, Self-Connection, Joyful Living & Self-Care · host Whitney Baker

We live in a world of constant distraction. Even when we try to enjoy the present moment, and be where our feet are, many of us get yanked away by the ding of our phone, worries about tomorrow or because we're too anxious to power through our mounting to-do lists. It takes practice, but learning mindfulness techniques can help us show up each day and truly savor what's right before us.   Today I connect with Jessica Crow to discuss her book The Power of Guided Meditation: Simple Practices to Promote Wellbeing. Along with being an author, she is a mind-body expert with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals and organizations around the world nurture their well-being using meditation, stress reduction and mindfulness practices.   Jessica shares with us a look into what it means to "be present", the importance of mindfulness practice and allowing ourselves self-compassion. We talk about tools we could incorporate into our lives to live more mindfully, advice for more mindful transitions and how to be a more mindful communicator.   Jessica and I would love to know what practice you plan to implement to be more mindful and present. Share today's episode on Instagram and be sure to tag us - @CNTRD_wellness and @Whitneywoman!   Here's what to look forward to in today's episode: A message about not waiting until we're in a crisis mode to explore anxiety reduction The difference between the higher brain and the lower brain A definition of "being present" The importance of mindfulness practice Allowing ourselves self-compassion An example of the type of tools we could incorporate into our lives to live more mindfully Advice for more mindful transitions when it may feel like too many things are happening at once Practicing rituals to acknowledge transitions when entering a new space Ways to be more mindful listeners in our normal daily conversations How to be a more mindful communicator     Connect with Jessica:   IG: @CNTRD_wellness   Website: www.CNTRDwellness.com   100-Hour Meditation Teacher Training: https://www.cntrdwellness.com/meditationteachertraining   'The Power of Guided Meditation' Course: https://www.cntrdwellness.com/courses   Podcast: Mindscaping│Meditation For Every Mind   The Power of Guided Meditation book: https://www.cntrdwellness.com/book     Connect with Whitney:   IG: @Whitneywoman   Website: www.myelectricideas.com
