And now coming at you from Yellow Knife Canada from one of our living rooms. We're talking movies and sometimes TV shows with spoilers included folks Is it is our chair to use wait? Is that is that based off like the armchair quarterback is saying? Is that right Chris we spoke about this for sure?

Yes, what's positive though? You wrote the joke Damn it. All right, you're right. I'm featuring Chris got it and James look at it.

There we go. Happy 2019 Yeah, what is this thing we got going on? What guys we got a bunch of new equipment here We have a new setup for our reviews roll in the new year if only you can see it only you can see we'll post picture Because it's pretty comfy we will post it's a lurching over one like we've got a couple of new Yeah, I'm taking new ones instead of sharing one mic. Yeah, we're actually becoming real boys to each their own big kids Now we're moving up.

We're grown adults. Finally. Hey, man. I haven't seen you in a while with this podcast But I mean for podcasting looks new man.

Yeah podcasting has been a while how was a Christmas by weeks? They're pretty good. All right. I mean I worked both days.

So You did you do you see any movies over the break? Do you want to briefly discuss all the popular ones that were out? No, I didn't really go to the theater at all like I didn't really bring anything good in like the best option We probably had over the Christmas break probably would have been bumblebee, but we I didn't see it Okay, yeah Everything seemed to come out much much later than everything else. Yeah, when I was a model like this week We'll get to what we're talking about people already know from looking at the title obviously But like we had glass the mule which I heard was shit.

I've heard really good things Gee, yeah except when you know you should just got a real baby instead of a toy baby in American sniper Yeah, like awkward, but I mean it's so blatant but like Jesus Christ movies that he's actually acting in Get off my lawn. Yeah, obviously he's an awesome legend. But like legend. He's also 184 years old now Yeah, so I think he's that's experience.

Yeah, respect that you just probably just just cost dust Expensive dust I'm a high price for real. Yeah, I don't know I see it and the story line intrigues me, but I'll have to wait until it comes out on The one that I'm really upset or something bullshit one. I'm upset. I miss spider-man to the slivers.

I have to wait till that comes out So an animated one animated. Yeah, but it's good one golden globe for the best animated and it's also nominated for an Oscar Wow for this this year's Wow, yeah, that's pretty cool. That's pretty neat I'll tell it not a for Oscar. Huh black panther for best picture Best picture dude classic.

That's pretty far and we're back. Yeah, yeah Quick break look like this little bit of that. Yeah black panther. You said nominated for an Oscar best picture.

Yeah I think that questionable. Yeah, I'm over talking about it now I think everyone knows why It's a questionable fine movie questionable. I have whatever. Oh, this is so we're being really loud right now.

You crank it up I don't know maybe Okay, okay Just Yeah We're getting off track. Yeah, so black panther. Well, yeah, we're talking about other movies not even Oscar black panther It was not like for us here. Everybody knows why we're over it.

Hey quick question Hey, did you watch some banner snatch and bird box at all? I did watch the Sander blicks box Okay, I know you had some thoughts on this cuz yeah after after Robin I did our last episode Yeah, we texted about it for a bit when you're still away Yeah, it's a thing I mean You didn't like it or here's the thing. It's like I didn't know what to think about it or how to To what to expect going into it because of All the memes right. That's what I was telling you like I liked it so much after the fact But yeah, so all the memes they're great And I got a really nice movie and then you see like these ridiculous numbers and Netflix is putting out like this is how much It was watched in the first week Yeah, if that equated to like a box office movie it would be a basketballic best movie I'm like that's fucking insane and it was best movie by a long shot nothing was close and so I was like I kind of had a Little higher expectations going in cuz I was like Santa book.

It's just good actually done some good movies. Yeah, so Yeah, no, no Concept is great. Yeah, I agree execution not not so much. Yeah, that's what we have a couple big questions that will never be answered No, cuz I don't want I don't care.

I don't care enough to know to want to know like what happens with him I know the book had a like the this is based off a book a much darker ending where like yeah, but did the book come out in Braille? Like the book of Eli is the Braille bible No, it was like the book itself like the ending for it was not as happy and bullshit go lucky And as the ending of the movie and movie yeah like the ending of the book like the kids who actually had vision in the blind school there They everyone like scratched their eyes out. So they just adapted to not see it. They're like, oh, well I don't need my eyes anymore.

That's a weird thing scratch about also Why is our school for blind people in the middle of a fucking forest that the only way you can get to is by a fucking rap It's just to be a professional fucking kayaker go down Yeah, that's a good point. That's a good point. Yeah, how else are you getting to that fucking school? Especially if you're fucking blind it's sanctuary dude.

Come on in sanctuary for a real How the fuck did the doctor get there? What have you ever seen for a sanctuary is not isolated? Come on just breath Come on the doctor though the doctor. Yeah, what about the doctor?

What's doctor? The doctor man? She's that was doing the Retard right now. I can't remember so okay, so when Santa Boba still bright pregnant and her sister brought her to the hospital Her fuck yes, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm thinking that's the one that's the one and yeah, so she's like with the doctor getting her I'll just sound done and then when they leave like there's not even a hospital yet And that's when everyone starts that and I guess when the shit is going down gotcha.

Yeah, mm-hmm And somehow that fucking doctor Made it from there to there inside job in I don't fucking think so inside job. Yeah, she's the one she's the one ground zero Yeah, not ground zero, but whatever whatever it is that's doing the thing in the movie She's connected six degrees of this doctor. She's not connected. She's the fucking ball She's not doing her job.

Yeah, she sucks. How'd she get there? I don't know fuck the bird box Let's move on we didn't get to see here machine gun kill your app one. So I thank God.

She's spit flames. Okay, though I'm like why was he weird? Robin I were tripping out Yeah, what is it going there? If we're real and cool you bang to check on a fucking countertop countertop countertop was it yeah, I'm pretty sure I Don't know Well, we never had to see him die those things.

Well, that was a day like another god damn you're getting a wound up wound up kill everybody They just got up. There's peace out to start Here do you like a nice and I'm alive and that's not a little long. I'm a little bit. No, I'm a little long But let's let's wear that joke out real quick.

Yeah, sorry worn out Do I like the movies that he makes yes, yeah sure really? Yeah, he's such a hit or miss like he really is he's been mostly miss the last few times That's a very good way of explaining it. It's either yeah, or it's no. Okay.

Name is best movies. So shit six cents That's six cents. All about a great movie. We're Bruce Willis is actually doing something for the only time ever What else Whoo did you I like science when it first came out?

Yeah, science wasn't too bad. That was okay It came out like a weird time for our age because we were like what 11 ish? I'm like 2003 to have a person like that. So we were young 12.

Yeah, like a weird time Did you see the village? I miss the village when it actually came out. That's all the village. Yeah was it like good movie to that Until the fucking classic twist.

Oh, yeah, I mean it was good until the fucking times Then it was like then that's where like the movies really go. That's where they make this point right? Like I can't I can't remember any of these right now later in the water didn't see what else was there I know there's more to visit. I watch the visit.

I hate that movie like there was kind of interesting old grandparents I was well actually I know it was like I was dumb that twist was just an obvious one Yeah, like but it was entertaining cuz there's some funny moments in that you know like a kid's like gross He like just shit's in a diaper and shoves a kid's face and that's gross. Yeah, like I'm confused by the other's name Like these kids are so sure you don't know the grandparents like hey, did you like um? Did you like the happening since what a lot of like Mark Hallberg a lot of the comparisons of bird box was Was it with the happening? I didn't like it.

Yeah, really? It's another one of those kind of like decent concept again. Yeah No, and what about unbreakable where this is gonna lead into it two thousands of breakable little team up again with Bruce Well, it was actually a decent action. Yeah, I don't think it was too bad It's been so long to watch actually watched it this past year for the first time really I just kept putting it off putting it off Like it was on TV a couple times and like I just I watch a couple bits and pieces of it I knew what it was I never sat down and watch it and I was on Netflix.

I just turned on and A boss It was it was fine. I was fine. I'd see knows it was entertaining and like I enjoyed it. Yes It wasn't like crazy at night.

Shem one, you know, and like he was trying to build a world where you know realistic superheroes or it's like What if superheroes were real and trying to be original at that time? And then fast forward. I think that's what he's trying to do in glass. What we're gonna be talking about today today With precursor with split here in a second.

I'll get back to you, but yeah Since like that 19 year gap between a breakable and glass that whole premise of what if superheroes were real has been beaten to fucking death Ever since the explosion of superheroes in the early 2000s early in the early 90s Like it's a fucking Concept that's just murdered by now. So it's not really original and that's why I kind of felt like glass was flat I liked where he was going with it again had a good build up and then just who gives a shit ending Do you see we can't talk about that when we were leaving the theater to Rick? Why why? What was the purpose why not?

It's just like there's just something like when we get into glass in a second here We'll talk more about it, but there's one part where at the end where like where it falls off and you're like, okay Fine, okay, whatever Next yeah, but hey, did you see split? I did see split I actually when I was before we started the podcast and I was writing a blog That was my first article that I wrote. Yeah, it was on split first article and I'll say it again James McAvoy unreal Not movie. Yeah.

Oh, he was so good. He was so good. And then the sporty cat on a Taylor joy She's really good as well in that she's not bad Um, but yeah, I really like that movie. He's unreal and this means you yes One of if not the only shining Star, yeah, well, yeah, I'll get back to that in a second.

We're like with um again with split I really enjoyed it and then the end kind of got it Fantastic. Oh, and then and then the real end where I had a beef when I first wrote the article was with that fucking forced shared universe With where we bring Bruce will listen at the very end as like a little cliffhanger, you know, you're a literal like I don't know if it's an homage or whatever because it's an end credit scene what all super hero movies do and Because that's what I guess this franchise. I guess I can call it franchise now is good. He labeled as he has a superhero movie at its core Essentially, yeah, oh man, it's just Like I didn't like how they're forcing that word the superhero word as well.

Yeah and like comics and stuff like that Yeah, they should stay there with that I don't know man. It just takes away from the movie But I still enjoyed it and then so that obviously meant like that that will sting her there at the end We knew we were gonna get another one and here we go. We have glass. This was Thanks split came out in 2016.

Yeah, I think so. That'd be right so a couple years later So now we have these three movies set within a 19 year time period and it's all real time Like you see we open with glass. You know, I talk about Where we open with glass with the story is that of that? Okay, continue.

It's almost like a direct continuation of Well, like unbreakable and combining split on it. Yeah, I would say I was more so split because it's technically like the movie Glass is three weeks after the movie split. Okay. Yeah, so that you find our our hero David Don Bruce Willis Yeah, and he's he's the the unbreakable man from unbreakable and he's on the hunt So he's been obviously doing this vigilante shit for a few years And it's cool that I like actually seeing his son from the original movie back.

He's older now Yeah, same actor same actor and he's like What's that he's like Alfred to like his his Batman? Oh, yeah, essentially, you know, he just kind of sits back at the back cave and does this thing Yeah, it has a constant communication stuff going while he's out in the field and he's he's hunting down the beast or James McAvoy He doesn't know who he is, but he knows that someone's murdering these girls He's on the hunt trying to stop it and he's using all his powers and he's they've triangulated an area and based off that area They're gonna they think they know where he's coming in from to abduct these girls Shit hit the fan they fight and stuff like that. They get captured We get put into an institute and that's where our main story takes places within this medical With a psychiatric institute in one in one specific wing where you meet Sarah Paulson who's also in bird box Yeah, all these connections here. This is like last episode to all these connections everywhere everywhere And and she's trying to convince these people that you know, we have blast mr.

Glass again, Samuel Jackson He's brought up as the villain He's he's catatonic the past few years and then you have unbreakable and you have mr. Split Yeah, and and Sarah Paulson's character doctor doctor doctor, whatever fucking name is who cares? Elie Staple or something. Oh, look at okay.

I think it's staple I got it real quick. She's trying to convince them that everyone like you're not special. Yeah, it is. Oh, there you go.

Perfect. Perfect. We call Sure. I'm seeing this.

Oh, so smart. But um, so she's trying to convince them that they don't have any of these superpowers They're just normal and although like they're pretty cool what they can do. It's just it's just they're just people Yeah, that's where we're we're we are and she's kind of trying to convince them that they're actually not even like Have a superpower that it's all delusional. They're all delusional.

Yeah, like oh It happened like you were able to bend the bars because they were a hundred-year-old Yeah, steel and they were worn out of whatever's more malleable for like the beast He was able to get two shotgun blasts because they're old shells and there was moisture in the gun in the bullets and Yeah, and like oh, you're just really smart. You like chess. Yeah, whatever is in glass. Yeah, whatever his name is the movie title glass.

Yeah Mr. Glass Yeah, what do you so that's like that's the first act set up What would you like about this movie before we get into what we didn't like because I think that's gonna be a little bit more hefty It's gonna be a half years part of this podcast So like Bruce was and now like James McAvoy had like a small fight scene. Yeah, that's pretty good I mean it's a lot of shoving. Yeah, nothing too crazy, but it's essentially just too super strong I fucking favorite part of us.

I laughed early hard with Chris is dying Yeah, just came over fucking cold and stuffed and I had a wicked cough. Sorry was when Bruce was trying to rescue these girls and Fucking there the other way and then James McAvoy is the boss is a fucking pearl a table like this perfectly This wooden oak table and just like it smashes this one girl rocks one of the girls. Holy shit. I thought that was so funny I don't know why but it just hits the one girl.

She still survives, but you should be fucking dead So Oh my god, yeah, because they're playing catch with it right at first No, no and like besides that James McAvoy is unreal like one thing that I really like Like obviously if you've seen split like you fucking know Yeah, they've got I can act and turn it on and he's got all those personalities whatever and split You see a handful of personalities. They rip it up to see 11 or 12 of them. It's awesome There's one or two scenes where it's like switch switch switch switch that is the most impressive part That was fucking insane. Yeah, and you can see I'm too like and like you as a viewer You're able to recognize who he's becoming.

Yeah, each of these terms Like you can see it. It's these manures. I was like does it's he's easily the best part He's a lead a standard like but when you have a character like that He's probably thinking it's to feel that like to be able to make that into what he wants essentially Yeah, pretty much I know he had probably some some influence with like them night You know talking about it and how these characters gonna be but there's some characters that get a little more like Whatever accent you want on this one mixed in with this style Whatever like it's always for the end player's reign Like you have the main players like in the last one you have the main you have the beast a little bit more more light time Yeah, you have Patricia Berry Berry and uh, Hedwig Hedwig. Yeah, the nine-year-old.

He's pretty good Yeah, and then how like the Personality interact with each other when like Patricia or something's crying and then Hedwig takes over. He's like, oh my crying with my pussy He's so funny. Just little details too where um like you see in his cell. He has all the different tooth toothbrushes It's one for each of his personalities.

Yeah, it's just nice. Do you see it's yeah, it's kind of just there. Yeah, it's a nice little detail It's not like in your face, but it's something that you notice you're like yeah That's what the other performance is like since we're talking about like how outstanding James McWitt was Um Bruce Willis. He was just kind of there Yeah, he was really just there It was just too bad because I thought he was decent and unbreakable and it was a while ago He did his look like the grizzled kind of vigilante character, which is good But he was just he looks like Bruce Willis underutilized Samuel Jackson I thought he was pretty decent.

Although he was doing much for the first half of the movie Yeah, oh, he literally nothing for the first half of the movie Yeah, some small twitches when he was on screen and otherwise he wasn't even on screen for like the first quarter of the movie Afterwards, he kind of turns on his same j-ness. Yeah, but you know for a movie that's titled after him I don't think he was the main player just feeling it fully used to his shirt He had this whatever master plan, but which is yeah, we'll get back to that too. Womp womp Um, what else we got what else we got? I know you're crunching for time here.

Yeah, but I'm sure now. Okay, we got 10 minutes to To have this shit up. So Characters small episode this week guys the characters are what they are like and like I said when we were leaving the theater yesterday We're like sure. Just giving us a split too Like it would have been probably more enjoyable.

Yeah, well, they just try to do too much I think so yeah So we're really tough when you have all these three interacting with each other glass His old plan is you know get get the word out that superheroes and villains actually exist and you know Let's hear Paulson realize that she's not or he's not gonna you know Participate or whatever. He's just gonna continue to get the catatonic She has a laser beam and that's I think you know she was saying that oh, it'll not make you smart or super anymore But it'll be still to you. Yeah, it's just like an advanced lobotomy. Yeah, essentially.

Yeah, it's nothing Yeah, he foils the plan along his lines Anyway, he he he makes this whole side plan where it's like oh, I'm gonna go to the biggest this This tower and we're gonna have a show off and Lure David to get out and fight the power and fight the beast and finally show off everyone that we exist But oh gotcha. I mean my real thing was here all along because we use cameras and everything I'm gonna stream it and fool you stupid psychiatrist. Yeah, if that's your real profession So the real twist here obviously besides that whole stupid plan of Samuel Jackson Was you know he cares you could fake all that footage. Yeah, and then second of all Why is there a secret organization now?

Why? Sarah possibly likes a secret organization going from city to city killing off these super people So that they don't they don't look the world wide You know population doesn't find out jos and james don't find out who cares like comics were actually based off real people's achievements and stuff Oh my fuck. And like what is it was the clover? What is it just clover organization?

Was it called? He never gave us a name a really an insight, but they're but they're But they're but they really they like high-end food because they only meet up in In Russia classy classy classy classy classy class. You know VIPs black cards. You know I'm saying platinum dude That's what I'm saying and they sell high roller tables only They even have like the waitstaff and the cooks in the back They're all just stop what they're doing listening.

Yeah, because they're that important But why make you fuck you listen, you know what I mean? Like why does they have the clover Chris? You have to listen. It's like a it's like a it's a bad it's a ball twist It would be very seen like where there's a evil organization within You know organizations with like Captain americans in the bad.

I draw it's literally hydra coming out and being like We've been watching you all along and we're killing you and this is secret government conspiracy You did you like that twist or because I agree who gave the shit I just there's just so much that you can do with these characters. It could have been a better twist I don't know if it's sort of good, but it could have been a better twist if maybe she succeeded and like Making them believe that they're just normal. Yeah, or better or killing them type thing It could have been a better twist. You don't know even like like when you have fucking wheels there glass He's he's he's as a superpower having super glass bones.

Like that sucks Smart that sucks. He gets his chest caved in by the beast the beast. He's personality. He gets shot and then David Dunn dies in a fucking puddle an inch puddle.

They really puddle Oh, what the fuck? That just pisses me off. Yeah, I mean super what you wrapped up the trilogy cool Thanks I guess thanks for letting me enjoy James McAvoy's performance, but that's all this movie got for me Yeah, and you killed him off so we don't get to get the fucking enjoy it again And very and you have again a decent sporting where you have on your Taylor Joy comeback and I like her She's good. She's she's decent in like the witch.

She's good in the other thing that I said earlier Whatever Well Um, and then she just she's on like a good will mission to help save Kevin Michael crumb make the original personality of James McAvoy But like why he almost ripped you to shreds and he killed your hoe ass friends And I know like there's good personalities in him, but like why is it her mission and she's not giving anything She's on the screen for a little bit, but she's just like a concerned person just gets up and gets in the way She's just a break from the rest of them essentially like oh, we don't have enough for you guys to do So we need to fill her. You know what my least favorite part was about this movie though Was M. Nice chamomones cameo. He was so bad How fucking awkward it was like it's like that scene could have fit into the room with Tony was oh easily Easily it was so awkward watching him try to act Yeah, like that Yeah, like why is it so long?

It was probably only like a minute and a half, but it felt like a goddamn eternity It was so long. It could have it should have been like if you're gonna do that kind of shit Five to ten seconds. Oh one line. Boom get out of there.

What a time, right? You want to play catch Stop. Yeah, stop. I need to bring that.

I needed to bring that up. If you're gonna make cameo just walk in the background Walk past be a passerby. You don't don't say anything ever again This uh, even though we have our issues with this movie because I know you need to take off here So just gonna wrap it up. This was like over two hours long.

Yeah, it's a lot of buildup I was like right at that mark wasn't it? It says an hour 29 minutes 120 minutes an hour and 29 or a hundred and 29 minutes to two and nine two hours and nine That is correct good. No budget of 20 million It's making money because well, it's a low budget movie. It's a nice chamomone and it's It's yeah, I mean, it's also in one area.

Yeah, it has one set pretty much Um, it's making money though like 106 mil and it's been out for a week less than that almost a week by time this Is released so there's a so this is a made of I mean, it's money back. It's gonna keep making money. Let's see what else we got here. Yes.

Okay, so worldwide. Yeah, 106 100.6 So it's gonna keep getting money, but I don't know I think a lot of people probably eat the shit up to you Probably I know the critics weren't like the like the actual critics not critics like us. We're kind of we're actually The our chair reviews boys were highly Coz we're sitting on a couch. Yes, that's true though All right, man any last thoughts on this before we take off Like I said, I think people are gonna eat the shit up People have eaten the show people clearly.

Yeah, I guess there's proof and they keep making money man Yeah, I mean like we said like he's he's either got it or he doesn't have it But it's enough to make you want to see the movie like again like I think yeah, well, I got us And uh, yeah, I don't know really beyond that Fuck, it's almost worth paying whatever your goddamn admission is to fucking see James McAvoy do his thing On two two two though, which we saw yeah, he is good. Yeah, that's the most one Watch on Netflix just for that because he he needs to get recognized for something because it's so fun Absolutely. It's too bad that the rest of the movie can't hold its own weight because he was exceptional. Yeah Um But yeah, that's that whatever could live without it.

Yeah, if you could just like cut out his scenes and give me like a half hour thing I'd be The trilogy no one really cares about it. Yeah, I don't care about no. I don't think so. You have to be pretty hard fans to really go fuck about it Yeah, just weird thing All these franchises man.

They keep popping up. They keep making more movies. Yeah No one ice her falling down outside there. Yeah, so then I think this next week we're gonna do the escape room I know it's coming to yolo knife yolo knife indeed.

Yeah, and uh I don't know what else is coming up. But that would be looking interesting for like a thriller It's how it reminds me of cheesy and extreme, but reminds me of saw it's a hundred percent during those saw Saw especially like jig saw that movie. Yeah, it will be a bit of that. Yeah, I hope it's much better than that though I think it's gonna be a really far-fetched with some of the rooms that we go into potentially Oh, it's just gonna be like it's gonna be too.

Let's find a thing ridiculous Spooky thing Someone recently died inside of escape room. We're like how many people did I heard about that. Where was that? Uh, I think it was in the States.

It's caught on fire. Jesus and you don't resort. God That's terrifying, but that's literally like my worst I've ever been in this game room. No, I haven't No, okay, so I've done a couple like you go in and they're like literally there's a way to get out Like if you have like if you're claustrophobic or whatever like there's key or like there's something that will release the door You're fail safe.

Yeah, so that you don't get burned alive. Clearly these people weren't listening Because they always always always like I've done one in Calgary. I've done one in Toronto I've done one fucking Dublin dude. How dare you victim blame bro bro bro?

These families lies a ruin out in your victim blaming whatever. No fucking dare you I'm saying Attention to detail. Yeah, yeah, sure. Let's go see that We're gonna wear this anticipation All right, training McGee Quickly now before Did you see anything recently other than you want to talk about like on Netflix or anything movies out?

No, you can keep it up with rivet up for some weird reason stupid. Yeah, I've got one of those things where you're like hooked into it Like I learned to give up the hooks keep doing it because I like pain Besides I know but I'm gonna watch Ted buddy's tapes this weekend. I just started it before he came over So I popped it on work days watch the first episode already so I'm gonna watch it Yeah, good get into it. I've already crushed season two of the Punisher on Netflix that came out this past Friday already finished it in week cool And obviously the type of any tapes and I recently watched that new Robin Hood movie with Taren Edgerton.

Oh, it's fucking math Last pass pass. You don't need to watch it. What's the first king's been and you'll be happy Perfect and that's about it. That's that's my quick summary of what I've been up to is recently So let's get you on out of here.
