She is the Medical Director of the renowned HIV Clinic at Ward 86 and has pioneered research in low-cost solutions for HIV treatment and prevention.With an M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Master’s in Public Health from UC Berkeley, Dr. Gandhi has shaped critical conversations on infectious diseases and global health equity. Her research focuses on HIV infection in women, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and innovative methods for tracking antiretroviral levels in resource-poor settings.Dr. Gandhi is also a dedicated educator and mentor, leading programs that nurture early-career investigators in HIV research. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she became a prominent voice on vaccine equity and treatment strategies, co-authoring chapters on COVID-19 for major medical textbooks and penning a book on pandemic lessons, Endemic: Lessons from HIV for COVID-19.
