#51. Yung Mermer - Using Music to Help People Feel Something

from United Podcast Experience · host The United Promotion

“ don't be afraid to be yourself because they are gonna judge you anyways “ Yung Mermer  ( @yungmermer )  has always been a fan of music and how it can make you feel emotions that cant be explained. Listening to rock and emo thru middle school, as her musical taste started to evolve she became more entrenched in the rap community. Being young at the time of some hardships, she turned towards drugs for comfort and resolution.  Not wanting to experience that again she decided to pick up her pen next time hardship hit struck and wrote down the struggles instead Having a supportive family has taught Mermer the value of connection and relationship. Being able to feel the support from parents, grandparents and a few close friends really makes her value the fans she does have. When working on a project it all starts with a theme or concept. She then looks for the perfect beat to help the listener feel what she is feeling, then weaves the lyrics in to create a song. It doesn't always come together so easily, at times, long walks are required to help clear the mind and make room for creativity. She is a huge fan of self promotion. “ if you don't promote how are people supposed to know who you are?” We cover many other great tips and information like how to use a breathing technique learned from martial arts to calm yourself down and create anxiety.
