Hendrik Gommer heeft een hunebed gebouwd, achter zijn huis. Een half jaar deed hij erover, maar nu ziet het er uit als een grafkamer voor de eeuwigheid.
Toen Gommer, die promoveerde op de evolutie van het recht, voor de zestiende keer geen vaste aanstelling kreeg op de universiteit, besloot hij zich op eigen houtje te storten op de megalithische bouwwerken van 7000 jaar geleden. Aldoende groeide een verbondenheid met de hunebedbouwers van weleer, en meer nog dan op de universiteit kreeg hij zicht op de herkomst van recht en religie en de wortels van onze huidige beschaving.
