#52 - Distributing emergency funds

from Fix This

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the US government created the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide financial assistance to Americans in need. With small businesses struggling and families facing housing insecurity or homelessness, decision makers across the country needed a fast solution to streamline the distribution of these funds. To better understand the situation, the Fix This team checked in with Kelly Cimino, director of the Department of Housing and Community Development of Howard County, Maryland. Kelly shares how the county leveraged Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deploy a cloud-based portal that provides a single front door for citizens to access multiple assistance programs.
