527. The Moral Case for Deportation - Lionel Shriver

from heretics. · host Andrew Gold

🔥 The Moral Case for DEPORTATION.  Lionel Shriver — the outspoken author of We Need to Talk About Kevin — joins me to explore one of the most controversial ideas in modern politics: the moral case for deportation. In this no-holds-barred conversation, we tackle immigration, national identity, and whether Western nations have the right to set limits on who stays and who goes. * GET HER ACCLAIMED NEW BOOK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mania-latest-novel-award-winning-author/dp/0008658714/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0 * Shriver reflects on the cultural and political shifts that have made it taboo to discuss border control openly, and why she believes fiction writers, publishers, and progressives have abandoned honest dialogue in favor of virtue-signaling and silence. From the role of elites to the collapse of independent thinking in publishing, this is Lionel Shriver at her most candid. 🎙️ We talk: - Why mass immigration isn’t always virtuous - The fear of being labelled “far-right” - What happens when truth becomes hate speech - The future of free expression in literature and beyond #ImmigrationDebate #LionelShriver #FreeSpeech  Join the 30k heretics on my mailing list: https://andrewgoldheretics.com  Check out my new documentary channel: https://youtube.com/@andrewgoldinvestigates  Andrew on X: https://twitter.com/andrewgold_ok   Insta: https://www.instagram.com/andrewgold_ok Heretics YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@andrewgoldheretics Chapters: 0:00 Lionel Shriver Highlights 1:15 Is the Woke Mind Virus Ending? 4:15 Cultural Appropriation Insanity 5:55 Bill Maher Believes Gender Woo-Woo 7:15 Protecting Relationships 10:15 Fascinating Concept! 13:45 Manias on the Right & Trump 17:35 The Sieg Heiling 19:30 We Need to Talk About Kevin (Trans Obsessed Actors) 21:15 Lionel Shriver, JK Rowling, Kathleen Stock 25:15 Atonement & Ian McEwan vs MeToo 27:05 Was ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ Anti-Woke? 29:15 Not Having Children Has Been Normalised 32:15 What Happiness Really Is 36:15 What If You DON’T Love Your Child (Kevin) 39:15 Publisher Employees Won’t Stop My Books! 41:15 Why Books Get Immigration Wrong 44:15 Refugees Can Live at Celebrities’ Homes! 46:15 New York Just 30% “Local” 48:15 Islam in UK 51:15 Following Immigrant Rules 54:15 Why Lionel Feels Cheated 58:00 The Left Don’t Get This 1:02:25 A Heretic Lionel Admires Learn more about your ad choices. Young Heretics Spencer Klavan The classical education you never knew you were missing. Join scholar and writer Spencer Klavan on a tour through the great works of the West. In a world gone mad, we're not alone: the great men and women who went before us have wisdom to guide us. With their help, we can recover truth, beauty, and the stuff that matters. Heretics G.K. Chesterton "Heretics," a series of essays by Gilbert Keith Chesterton. First published in 1905. Read by David "Grizzly" Smith.Chesterton had a sense of humor, had a sense of drama, and had sense. He was a man of strong opinions, and quite willing to argue vehemently for his own opinions, even with his friends -- and they remained his friends -- like George Bernard Shaw and Rudyard Kipling. Seems to me that's hard to find anymore. He wrote prolifically. He wrote humor. He wrote mystery novels, the Father Brown mysteries in particular. But he also wrote his opinions, his religious opinions and his opinions about religion. "Heretics" is a book about religion and politics, theory and fact, morals and efficiency. What I most admire about "Heretics," written a bit over a century ago, is that his arguments are exceptional, and that so many of them are still quite recognizably true. He argues that the weakening and devaluing of religion has also weakened and devalued heresy. He argues that Early Church Collection Volume 3 by Various Loyal Books This collection begins with Augustine's exposition of the Apostles' Creed, a confession of faith attributed to Gregory Thaumaturgus and a series of statements on christology. Then come two works attributed to Hippolytus and a treatise addressed to Tatian arguing, without using Scripture, for the existence of the soul. Dionysius of Alexandria comments on the authorship of the book of Revelation and Alexander, archbishop of Alexandria excommunicates Arius . What remains of "a discourse on the Divine Nature and the Incarnation, against the heretics Beron and Helix" is followed by several exegetical works by Dionysius of Alexandria and the beginning of a treatise of the resurrection usually attributed to Justin Martyr. "Discourse on all the Saints" concerns martyrs and the fragments of Lactantius were written by the adviser of Constantine, the first Christian Romans emperor. A survey of Christian novels follows .
