53. Distress Tolerance and Our 3 States with Charlene Gethons

from The Mindful Psychology Podcast · host Geneviève A. B - Island Yogi Therapist

On today's episode I am joined by the brilliant and hilarious Charlene Gethons. Charlene is a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher & mindfulness coach, a motivational speaker and a therapist. In 2013, she was involved in a motor vehicle accident which turned her life upside down and prompted her to reexamine her future. The injuries that she sustained required several surgeries, on top of which she had to deal with complications and infections. The uncertainty of her future is what started her on her mindfulness journey. Learning mindfulness helped her to manage her feelings of anxiety, to learn how to be more present and to be able to sit with the uncertainty that arises in life. Now she is  a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher after receiving training at the University of Massachusetts Centre for Mindfulness. Charlene is going to take us through different ways to mindfully manage conflict, use distress tolerance techniques, and understand our 3 states of being. All of this so that we can understand what our triggers may be, what our work is to do, and how to cultivate healthier and happier relationships in our lives. There is so much good advice that Charlene shares in this episode about how to truly be mindful about your behaviours with yourself and others.  You can find Charlene:  Website: https://themindfulnessjourney.com  Freebie: https://www.subscribepage.com/7dayfreechallenge  Link to upcoming course: https://themindfulnessjourney.com/from-overwhelm-to-ease/ Happy listening!
