Novice and experienced coaches differ by degree, not kind. Whether you are L1 and been a coach for two weeks, or L3 and been a coach for years, do you show up to every single class you coach with a lesson plan? If not...you should. The value in the plan comes in the actual thinking through and planning for the class to come. That is how you set yourself up for success.
