#543 Running with Real Motivation - Featuring Steve Brumwell
from Huntsman World Senior Games Active Life · host Kyle M Case
Steve Brumwell, 67, has been immersed in sports since junior high, excelling in basketball, football, track, and cross country. A standout athlete, he earned a scholarship to UC Santa Barbara where he focused on distance running and the steeplechase. After a 37-year career as a high school PE teacher and basketball coach, Steve returned to competitive running, inspired by his youngest daughter’s collegiate cross country journey. He lost over 40 pounds in seven weeks so that he could run with her. Though he now is mostly retired from road racing after competing in events like the USATF road circuit and the Boston Marathon, Steve continues to race on the track, representing the SoCal Track Club with former college teammates. Despite recent injuries and setbacks, he stays motivated by the friendships and community he’s built through Masters athletics. For Steve, the true victory is in the people he meets and inspires along the way.Send us Fan Mail
