Dr. Clinton Bliss Clinton Bliss MD is the Medical Director of Bliss Medical Center. He is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Medicine, and practices Family and Emergency Medicine in Washington State. He is also the President of the Board of Directors of the Happiness Alliance, a non-profit organization that focuses on improving the quality of life of individuals and communities around the world through education and community engagement. He lives in Seattle with his partner Laura Musikanski. Clinton and I discuss the current state of a pandemic economy, how his patients and people in general are coping. We touch on his most recent co-authored article titled When Will the Pandemic End? Suggestions for US Communities to Manage Well-being in the Face of Covid-19 When Will the Pandemic End? Suggestions for US Communities to Manage Well-Being in the Face of COVID-19 Clinton believes that in order to flourish in the midst of a pandemic, community plans should be based on a community development (CD) approach and should entail inclusive and participatory decision-making process that engage young people. Communities should use this time to transition to a well-being-based local economy and implement interventions that allow for human interaction such as negative pressure ventilation and filtration of air in indoor spaces, availability of universal testing, contract tracing and the widespread use of personal powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs).
