55. Paul Saladino: Diet fallacies, Carnivore Diet, and the Ethics of Meat Eating

from HYDRATE with Tracy Duhs · host Tracy Duhs

Have you ever thought that eating plants is negative to our bodies? In this week’s episode of HYDRATE, I talk with the ‘Carnivore MD’, Paul Saladino all about the impact of food on our diet. We discuss his journey to fighting back on western medicine, and the impacts of food to our body. We are taught that plants are good and that we need lots of vegetables in our diets, some experts even say only vegetables is the best option, but what if the opposite is actually the most beneficial? Paul Saladino breaks down the science of eating plants versus eating meat, as well as the history of why meat is made for us to eat.  Dr. Saladino is the leading authority on the science and application of the carnivore diet. He has used this diet to reverse autoimmunity, chronic inflammation and mental health issues in hundreds of patients, many of whom had been told their conditions were untreatable. He hosts the podcast, Fundamental Health and released his first book in 2020 titled, “The Carnivore Code: Unlocking the Secrets to Optimal Health by Returning to our Ancestral Diet.” We talk about his supplement brand, “Heart and Soil” where he designed supplements based on all the nutrients found in meat.   What we discuss…  0:23- The Problems with Western Medicine 2:57- What started Paul’s journey to find the cure for autoimmunity 7:04- Thinking like a plant 15:16- Preparation of food making a difference 16:26- Hunter-gatherer diet 22:24- Veganism and quiet guts 24:58- Different diets and their benefits 27:23- Eating food purely & on its own 33:11- Diet fallacies 43:59- Nutrients in organs 47:09- Difference between real organs and supplements 50:56- Vegetarians are fooling themselves 53:31- Ethics of eating meat 1:03:30- How much meat do you need to eat per day?   Website: heartandsoil.co Instagram: @CARNIVOREMD
