Dear Parents, We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements: Watch these announcements on video here. This week we will be reading the novel A Long Walk to Water. There will be an electronic copy available for students. However, it would be great to have the book on your own. The book is about $6 and should arrive before Monday if you order by Friday evening. Here is the link. PTA Event Camp Dukoe (6th grade there from 6:15-7:00) Online Permission Slips Reader’s Workshop We will be reading a novel all together: A Long Walk to Water. It is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it for students and parents. If you can read it alongside your it will be a fantastic experience. Writer’s Workshop This week the kids will be learning some new ways to revise their stories. We will use the moments they brainstormed over the last week to come up with story ideas. Today (August 28th) the kids will complete their first story. It is typed in google classroom. Math Math Answers and Help Here This week students will begin our first unit. We will use geometric principles of perimeter and area to review some skills from 5th grade like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions. History We will continue our study of early humans in particular, hunter gatherer societies and the students will work on their early human flipbooks. Science The kids will work with Mr. Nelson in science lab and we may start our first unit from our science textbook. Thank you, Mr. Gray
