56. Smoke Pole

In this episode Pliny discusses his muzzleloader setup for hunting whitetail deer. This includes the "origin story" or the reason why someone would choose to hunt with a muzzleloader in 2020 when modern rifles are much easier, and typically more accurate. Pliny tells the story of a small buck he killed with a muzzleloader, which was special since it was his first deer harvested on public land. Striving for increased reliability and accuracy, Pliny experimented with several different loads to find a bullet and power combination that was reliable, powerful and accurate. Now it is gun season and Pliny has that same muzzleloader slung over his shoulder, trying to knock down a buck.
