I think I am worried if you're if you're a your call We're cuz you're skyping in right now if that gets dropped we might be fucked but who knows we'll say oh Nothing the magic of editing slash re-recording the whole episode can't fix Yeah, so I am still in New Jersey and Dan you're out in Arizona, right?
That's right I'm doing research out here to see how long I can remain in a monogamous relationship It's sort of a study got a dog though that happened fast All the all the best things do Yeah, no, it's nice. It's nice. It's very hot. I can't stress this enough.
It weighs like a hundred five degrees out here Yeah, it doesn't weigh that that's not what temperatures do it be is a hundred five. That's too hot. That's too much I know it's suppose I was looking at the the forecast. It's gonna go up to like 115 the next week.
Yeah, that's that's fucking nuts. That's a real temperature. It can be last week Me and my lovely girlfriend Dana. She took me to this Russian like like bath house like a shivitz Okay They open your girlfriend and not your your business mentor.
That's right. This wasn't a 70 year old man This was in fact nice Dana. That's right. Okay.
There's one over in freehold which for people listening outside of the central Jersey area It doesn't really mean anything, but yeah, it doesn't mean anything to me anymore Yeah, it's a it's only 15 minutes away So we went and like we spent like it's very cheap to get in and you just like you just hang out and they have like three different kinds of sauna Which is like we were just popping in and out of like each one But the rooms one of the rooms was up to 160. Oh my god, which is not for man No, that's for like strong lizards. I think strong lizards and like pot roasts. Hey, hey Shout out to all my strong wizards Shout out to my delicious pot roasts Yes lips mackingly good, so did you feel rejuvenated after was it a good experience?
It actually it was pretty it was pretty nice I I want to go back. I want to sweat it out. You know, I felt like We were talking about that like they tell you don't sweat out all the toxins right because your body's just my body is at least 85% Yeah, you do have sort of a greenish hue. Yeah, well, that's what I was saying I was like it would be better if somehow we could get those toxins that you're sweating out to be like a different color Like if they were blue or green so like how ozzy goes on blue.
Yes. Yeah, exactly like that. Yeah I just want to be able to see how much I'm detoxing more like never mind Oh boy, I I'm trying to think if I did anything fun since I relocated and maybe not I Wish I had a bath house story to share but I haven't been here long enough to know where the good bath houses Give it a week. Yeah, I mean you're still new in town.
So yeah, that's right Hey, buddy. I'm new on town. We're the good bath houses. I'm already in a robe Just where's the best where's the best bath house for me to sit down with this big bowl of soup That's my new character the guy who goes to the bath house with a big bowl of soup That's good.
He says oh you and I have very different reasons for being here to someone else Yeah, you know, you know, you know how you can like talk to someone else if you if you wanted if you wanted to I'm familiar I guess why why'd you talk to someone else at the bath house you wanted to That was uh, yeah, everybody else there seemed like they were Russian like a guy like when we were leaving This is the other thing like you walk in and there's nobody at the front desk But there's like a little bell that's on the table and they're like ring the bell not like one of the ones that like a post office We're like you hit the thing but like I didn't jingled. Yeah. Yeah, so you do that But when we were leaving I was waiting for Dana in the lobby or whatever and this guy comes in and he said something and pointed to the bell And I was like I don't know no no. Did he call you boss?
No, he was just speaking Russian. Oh shit Okay, this is an authentic place and also I passed for Russian Yeah, I guess you're sort of hairy like Russian people like to be yeah, yeah I was also wearing one of those fucking furry hats and a tracksuit. Yeah, yeah, well calling everybody bro I Well, I'm glad I'm glad you had the most wholesome bathhouse experience. I've ever heard of Yeah, it was it was totally wholesome.
We have a kitchen there. We ate dumplings. It was great. Oh shit That actually sounds incredibly nice.
Yeah, here's a question. Yeah, how does Dana know about the bathhouse? That doesn't I don't know I know Dana I guess not super well because she doesn't strike me as the type to know where the bathhouses are but oh the good bathhouses No, she I think she was just like looking up Like something fun to do something fun and like manly okay, and like a shit I've talked about going for shits is before this is not the first time this has come up so she finally called your bluff Yeah, pretty much yeah Well, you know, let's see a movie that takes place in like a bathhouse like John Goodman in that marky mark movie the gambler He's like he gives this whole speech mark movie It's so spiteful Yeah, fucking marky mark. You know, it's funny.
It's like wallberg. Yeah, marky mark was only marky mark for like I don't know a year or two and that's just who he is forever for me I you know what? I don't think he should be able to outrun the past. I think this is the best possible thing.
Yeah Yeah, him and his brother His burger flip and bro. Yeah, I want to I want to eat it while burgers real bad you do Of course why you don't I guess I guess I mean it'll be like entourage the burger Yeah Can I get the turtle please and it's just a gold-plated sneaker on a bun Let me get the Johnny drama and it's just it's a rip rip. No, what is rupees called? Man that would be a t-shirt if this were a different show What is these goals?
Yeah, they serve cocktails there. Come on at Burgers, I'll tell you what I don't I'll tell you what man on the west coast is sort of boy now I don't need wall burger because I got in an out burger. Oh shut the fuck up Yeah, and I can't remember I don't know if I said this on wall to wall carpenter, but our dear friend slash listener Susan got me a $20 gift card to in an Alberta oh my god, so thank you Susan you deserve to be put on the pedestal of a fledgling podcast Yeah, people deserve to know that you gave me the greatest gift of all $20 $20 that you can only spend at one place right but oh that place God did I ever oh my god We ate like kings that night. Let me tell you Speaking of of wall burgers and gift cards and money in general guys.
Yeah, we have a patreon page Oh, what is this? Yeah, so patreon, huh? If you've been listening to the show you already know about this We have a patreon page link is in the show notes where you can donate money now I know we've at this point we're I think three episodes deep on wall to wall carpenter, but it's of course not too late There's plenty more. We're actually just scratching the surface and it's yeah And you know when it becomes too late.
It's still not too late because we're gonna move on to late else Right. It's never too late to give us your money now. Where does your money go? Well, you know currently it goes toward hosting the show It goes toward upkeep equipment costs that were recouping it also goes toward flying me out to New Jersey for every episode You know if we can get there I look I would love to fly out once to twice a week on a six hour flight I'd love to never take a shower again because of my rigorous schedule I Would like to thank Rebecca Henley for donating five dollars a month to our patreon and getting a family.
Yeah Thank you sister of a friend of the show mark Henley I you know anyone who gives me five bucks. I'd call them a friend of the show marks never given me five bucks You know what you're absolutely right Rebecca Henley better friend of the show A true friend the kind of friend that gives me five dollars I'm sorry 250 Also, everybody there are a few people who are donating five dollars or more who are not in the Not in the five dollars here And I want to just make sure that they make that adjustment because I don't want them to miss out on the extra bonus content That we're not there so guys, you know, yeah, you get how do they do that? They have to go on there and they have to I believe they have to unsubscribe to their one dollar reward Category and then resubscribe to their five dollar reward category. Okay, so hey, hey bozos get on it You deserve this content bozos Also like to thank Franklin coda for subscribing.
Thank you are five dollar a month patreon He all of these people now are are considered ancient godlands. Oh my god I like this and how much well, I guess if you donate ten or more you become a warlord and then and then it's all it's fixed Yeah, 15 you become a war dog like that movie dogs. Oh my god. Have you seen that movie?
No We watched it a couple weeks ago. It is so fucking bad. I didn't expect it to be good Is it like with missile missile? That sucks so bad.
It's like it is exactly that. It's as if turtle and Johnny drama got like the military contracts That honestly sounds like a movie I would want you You're so fucking ignorant if you don't think that was the elevator pitch for that movie. Oh my god. Yes.
Yeah What is like a couple entourage fuckers? We're we're just sending guns and missiles to the to the Iraq war that could be like I don't know That could be like a good satire it but I guess it it really Lianizes these two bullets could have those Yeah, yeah, it's very it's very strange for like for a movie you would think that there'd be like high stakes They're really aren't It's just them trying to meet girls. Yeah, there's a like the first I don't you know, I think it's like an hour 45 the first like hour and 20 is just them being like super awesome And without their being yeah without they're being like any conflict at all What it so the premise is really like what if Martin Shkreli where what he thinks of himself as yeah, yeah that blows So bad, yeah, it's yeah, it's really bad. I didn't like I said, I didn't expect much of it I just wanted to watch like a dumb movie.
Yeah, and this was this was even dumber than what I was expecting like wasn't even fun in its stupidity So I guess what we're saying is don't donate $15 a month. Yeah, don't be a war dog Yeah, don't be a word I tell you what why don't you go up to if you do 16 a month? You can just be Joey Ramone. That's what you'll be to us.
Yeah, and then if you go up to 20 You get to be a DD Ramone One of the lesser known Ramones sure but a solid solid Ramones though. Yeah. Hey, hey, he may not be Joey Ramone But Phil Spector still wave the gun at him Say what you will that guy got a gun wave that and by Phil fucking Spector. Yeah, he's no slouch Today on the show.
Yeah. Oh, yeah, what are we talking about here? We're talking about baby We're talking about 2002's a fire starter to rekindled a movie that first aired on the sci-fi network in March 2002 Directed by or sorry written by obviously based on the novel by Stephen King written by Philip Eisner whose other credits I have here include event horizon and He wrote it wrote event horizon. He also wrote something called mutant chronicles So I love him and Ron Perlman and John Malkovich shit.
I've never even heard of this movie Wow, I think I think I've actually seen that it's one of those you know like Skycathin in the world of tomorrow where it's like all shot on like Green screen. Yeah, and it's that sort of thing. It's one of those kind of things interesting Yeah, those are his three writing credits or those two and fire starter to rekindled it was directed by Robert Ice Cove I guess and if that name sounds familiar, I'll be happy to tell you why he directed boys and girls starting Freddie Prins, Jr He and Claire for Lonnie and Jason Biggs. He also directed she's all that he also directed He also directed from Justin to Kelly.
That's right He's got 63 directing credits. He's still going strong. So a lot of TV movies this guy Wow. Yeah, Bobby happy happy for all your success Wish you the best wish you the best So is it starring?
Margarit Marot who from what American summer? Yeah, that was I think these came out like the same year didn't I? Guess they would have right or like you're real fucking close. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, so she's there Malcolm McDowell is in it as John Rainbird the Native American pedophile. Oh my god. Yeah, so real quick with Margarit She went on American summer was 2001 and this is 2002 along with this in 2002 She was in the movie Queen of the Damned the sequel to interview with the vampire Queen of the Damned was the one that Alia was in That's right.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it was in this and entire soundtrack by Jonathan Davis of corn What the fuck I love like yeah, Alia you can start in the movie, but we got Johnny Davis coming in for Fox Yeah, this has been real quick with Margarit Marot. I Like that I like that I was like yeah, Malcolm McDowell plays a Native American who who wants to diddle kids and you're like real quick though Let's talk about Yeah, yeah, we'll get to that yeah We had a very the lead on how she was in Queen of the Damned Yeah, I'll say this I mean she's she's perfectly fine in wet on American summer not a great actor. No, not really very great So she's here.
Malkey. Malkey McDowell key is here Of course another actor who is not very good. No, I'm gonna say like British Yeah, he's just British He's in like I think he's in a few good movies like in the 70s like Clockwork Orange is I feel like yeah, that's my favorite Jack Nicholson movie by the way is a few good movies Is he in that am I confusing that a few good men? Yeah?
Yeah, okay. That's you can't handle the truth, right? Yeah, okay. Thank God No, I'm sorry Jingle Don't handle it don't handle it.
Look, I'm not saying so Malcolm McDowell. Yeah, Malcolm McDowell. He was in that he was in like what's like a There's the one where I can't remember the name of it, but he's like in a hospital and there's a guy whose head is put on a sheep's body Fuck it's like oh lucky man. I think that's I think that's what we put on those where he's got like the Prince Valiant haircut, you know Yeah, yeah, and then like at a certain point he got the sting haircut and that's who he's been ever since and he's just he just does these like terrible Kind of movies.
I like well his whole thing in I don't know forever Yeah, since the clockwork orange probably and I think the reason he works in that and because he also does a lot of voice acting So I think the reason he works in a clockwork orange And I think the reason he works better as a voice actor is because he's so like he's not like a he's not a His acting style does not Incorporate realism or naturalism. That's true. Like if you style if you exactly he's very it's very big and like Yeah, not not grounded characters necessarily and like you know on paper John Rainbird probably doesn't have to be that But because of the way everyone else is playing this movie and honestly because of the way like the first fire starter Is I think it just like never could have worked. Oh, yeah, no that was Well, also, I mean this is yeah, all right Not we shouldn't glance over the fact that Dennis Hopper is also in this movie Danny Nucci who you probably remember as what's his name from Titanic the Italian guy?
Oh, I don't know I've never seen her yeah, he oh he he plays the Italian fella that Leonardo you've never seen Titanic no that's fine It's not good to watch. I know it's three hours long and I got a full plate over here. He plays Fabrizio Italian the Italian guttersnipe who Leonardo DiCaprio is Jack Dawson wins tickets onto the Titanic with what happens to a Fabrizio Oh, he drowns in in icy water. Does he really yeah, they all do Titanic but not all of them though.
Yeah, but all the poor people. Okay. I haven't seen the movie man I don't know how it ends. You don't know that they let rich people on lifeboats first.
No, you could have guessed as much That doesn't seem fair at all Well to be fair. They did pay more money Well, he also plays lieutenant shepherd in the rock which is a movie. I have not seen well, it's so bad. It's great Is it yeah?
I see I see Nick Cage scowling on the poster here and that makes me want to see it Yeah, Nick Cage is yeah, he's like he's a real Malcolm McDowell You got a good act there, but if you can get him to go nuts It's just delightful it like the the Nick Cage like trifecta is the rock Conair and face off like if you like a triple feature if you're bored one Sunday and you just want like Manic cage. That's where you go. Well fate. No face off.
I fucking I really like that movie. It's I love face off It's one it's sort of like the Grand Canyon in that you're like I can't believe this came to exist so perfectly and so itself it makes you believe in God Yeah, it's the perfect blending of time and just elements and forces that I can't possibly comprehend I eat Nick Cage Yeah, so Danny Nuchi Then you know Danny Nuchi Danny Nuchi That was the waitresses Well do it a do it for a lot of people in this movie Dennis Hopper Darnell Williams Ronnie Perkins Some you know what maybe we'll release a bonus app where I'm doing all of them. Yeah, just Devin Allen Does the full like three and a half minute tracks of you just I just Danny Nuchi, but I think I'll skip this one this year Yeah, so what is this what is this movie about Dan? Well, it's a continuation of the Firestarter story which long-time listeners will remember I quite like I like the first firestarter Yeah, it was good I mean it's like the movies fine, but I think like the the world of it is really fun And I think you could do a lot with it.
Yeah, I Think this begs to be adapted into a comic book series. I Yeah, I can see that that would be it's got sort of yeah I mean it's got potential for like it's basically like X men if their powers almost always kill them Yeah, which I think is like I think that's a cool and like the fact that they're all government experiments And you know if we're taking firestarter rekindled his cannon means that they are just continually testing on people and it's like it's a mutant factory Basically, so we'll never run out of characters. You're right. That's true in the original Movie I forget it was Heather Lachlier and the other guy I forgot his name But they were experimented on in what they were calling lot six where they Was a bunch of like college students trying like earn money and they were just like testing these like crazy drugs on them and they gave Drew Barry Moore's parents like telekinesis was both of them or just I forget what Heather I Think was Heather Lachlier, maybe telepathic Someone was telepathic maybe because I see I think I remember a scene where they're just like they're in the research facility talking to each other in their heads That's where I saw in the research facility.
Yes. I can't drag you away from again Not called a research facility. It's called a bath house You're con you're con doing research though On how to schwitz yeah, how to sweat So so this is but this is so it is firestarter to rekindled but it's weird because in the original firestarter John Rainbird dies straight up. There's make they make no bones about it.
He's dead like I went back And I was like he's in this movie I was like wait Did he like was there like a possibility that he could still be alive? No well they they sort of they retcon it yeah Right, they had to retcon it. How's he done? Doesn't he die doesn't he get like shot in the first one he gets shot or she also likes him on fire and like okay But but they show it it's not just like I'm on fire.
I'll stop dropping roll He's like on fire and they show him like burning yeah show like which just on fire like not moving burning Danny's favorite. Yeah. Oh man. There was a real good stagger step in this one I was very very delighted to watch it was in on fire was it the flashback when the agents like roll up on their their house Yeah, yeah, that was yeah So let's I mean let's talk about those flashbacks because like they tie the original to this one using flashbacks of a movie That was already made but they reshoot like those scenes right they reshot What they had like each of the reshot scenes they had like a hint of like what had happened in the original movie, but right?
They're obviously they're very different. There was no art Carney. I really miss him a tragic lack of art. I forgot He was in that yeah, so did I like went back and like just a re like skymeth through the original But they're like I don't know this will be like movie sucked Straight up like this it's three hours long and I like I don't like what they did with the characters You know none of it like none of it doesn't make sense like it makes the first one not make sense right like John reinde bird is clearly established as a pedophile Yeah, and the fact that he's obsessed with her into adulthood like undoes that and I'm not mad that he's not a pedophile anymore But it is like it is Re-configuring the character in a way that doesn't like add anything I guess yeah, and like yeah, so not only is he like he lives with like a bunch of boys who do his bidding it It's different now things are different now things are different.
Yeah, and like obviously I don't know if you get half of your body burned you're not really in assassin shape anymore like he is in the original So like yeah in the first movie John reinde bird is like the deadliest man alive. That's kind of how he's established He was karate chopping people across the septum. Yeah Oh my gosh They're whole facing and he was like obsessed with like absorbing people's essence when they died Yeah, something like that which is like part of the reason he was obsessed with Charlie played by Drew Barrymore in the first one Margarit Maron this one right which like that would there. There's definitely like any original one.
There's definitely like The stuff with him being like a pedophile it's I'm not gonna say that it's like questionable But there are like other motives to it also like she it's he's like I want to be the one to kill her because I want her power Basically, and it's like yeah, it's really it's played up and it's very creepy and whatnot in this movie John Ray bird Just seems like like a pedophile right? Yeah, but like for an adult woman like it's it's for it It's originally it's for this young girl and then like he falls in love with this My child and then like she's like well, you're all grown up and hot now so I guess that's I'm into that now Yeah, well on top of that. Yeah, he lives platonic with a bunch of boys and like you know weird Yeah, it's strange So he's in the mix Charlie, you know her parents die when she's young her dad dies in the first movie right yes Yes, yes, I um And she goes into hiding and the whole time that she's in hiding There is a company with like a very funny suspicious vague name. It's like systems operations LLC Yeah, something right it's like one of those like office buildings out in the middle of absolutely nowhere Yeah, it's just like the most generic possible mean I did like that facility.
Yeah, it's the shop is what it is. Yeah, it's the front for the shop But also I do feel like that makes uh Danny new cheese character the dumbest possible guy for not knowing what's going like Not him not knowing what's going on and then finding out that seemingly everyone besides him knows what's going on right like his one coworker who Tries to strangle that woman with a plastic bag. Oh my god. Yeah, dude that woman is so Deborah van valkenburg is her name.
Yes, it is and playing mary conant is her game. She's she is Uh, it feels unfair to say she's a bad actor. Oh shit. She was in like the warriors and stuff Yeah, she was in the warrior.
She was in like some movies. Yeah, it's weird streets of fire the devil's rejects Yeah, some real good stuff in here, but she does a terrible job in this movie Uh, but like at least a very fun job to watch. Yeah, she she was experimented on uh, she was a part of lot six or was she? was she She was part of one of the lots.
Yeah, it's confusing because like I could have sworn in the original movie They said that the only two people that survived were her parents. Everybody else Yeah, but they also in this one then established that there are there up to lot 23 or so, right? So, okay, so she was one of the other experience later in her iteration. Yeah, so she um, the I guess the general sort of like overall outline of this is that the company um They've been experimenting on these people and they're trying to track down um Like some of the people from like past experiments, um, because they I guess they weren't they weren't involved in all of them Is that what is that?
I don't know like it seems like like why would they lose track of this woman? You know, right right. Yeah, it's it's hard to say. I mean like Yeah, no, they're they might have explained it, but I don't remember for the life And probably they didn't explain it.
Yeah. Well, and so what ends up happening is uh, danny nucci is he works for this company? he has to uh um, he's got tracked on all these people so he he starts finding them and Um, he thinks that it's from some class action lawsuit that they're getting money So like since they were experimented on by this company, um, they're entitled to x amount of dollars and whatever So he's tracking these people down as he like he thinks he's some sort of ed mcman ready to roll up with a big check for him Um, yeah, and he's doing good important. Yeah, he thinks he's he's doing the the good stuff but he but like as soon as like people he starts sending like agents out to like quote unquote deliver these like checks and they just start killing all of these people People because like they're just liabilities just like these right super power to people out in the world and like they know too much So they're just like we got to kill um, right Yeah, one one of the people that they're looking for is charlie mcgee especially like mcdowell person.
Yeah, not mcdowell especially is like We really have to find her. Um, which she's like, um, she she kind of going into hiding and whatnot Um, but she still has like she has like bad dreams and then like lights her bed on fire Yeah, she wakes up in her rooms on fire and she that was I didn't enjoy that too because she like very like Oh not again. Just like yeah, uh, sort of like, uh, very put upon Extinguish is a fire on her bed that she's right. Yeah, like it looks like if you were laying in bed under the covers and just like at the foot of your bed Was like a small fire.
Yeah. Um, and then like I love when uh, Dan and you she comes to her apartment later And he's like, oh, I like you're fire extinguishers and they show like a wide shot of the bed and it's surrounded by fire extinguishers Yeah, yeah, you ready. It's a good movie. You think she'd be terrified of fire extinguishers.
Right? It's like a like a vampire with garlic. Yeah, so thank Uh, Danny Nuchi in searching for these uh files or whatever he ends up at a college where she this girl charlie works And wait that with that weird club scene where she starts hooking up with that guy. Yeah.
Oh my god That was so strange. So they're in like this. It's it's terrible It's this whole thing is like very poorly produced, but like it's this really shitty dive bar that's playing. Um, I don't know if it's like industrial dance music or something Yeah, um, but it's all these people that are like the nerve of this movie to have been made Yeah, but they're all dead.
Oh, are you still there Dan? Yeah, okay. Yeah, I just stopped because I was talking over you. Oh, no, no, okay You you stopped and you also weren't moving.
I was like, oh, no, he's frozen. Oh, no, I'm just very still okay Uh, you learn how to be still out here, you know Um, god forbid the yodys get to you that's what we call coyotes here Uh, did you know that I found this out was uh, they're apparently Very like north of where I am Uh, but in Arizona and in like neighborhoods sometimes. Yeah, there are very aggressive Pigs called the hellinos and they will kill you. They will fucking kill you I think are there given the chance.
They're super aggressive. They're not that big, but they have very sharp teeth. Uh, yeah, and It's yeah, I love knowing that I'm in danger because of a pig I always die by pig But I always thought I'd be the pig to kill me Uh, yeah, sorry No, not this this dance sequence. It's a huge like bar.
It seems like filled with people that are dancing to like music That's not playing, you know, how to do that. Um, so like everybody's kind of dancing their own way And it's like this creep guy like he like, you know comes up from behind and starts like dancing with charlie And she gets like real into it They start making out on the dance floor and then they go out in like the back alley and they're like they're gonna Fuck in the back alley. They're gonna fuck on top of a car. Yeah, like they're right.
Yeah, they're like they're getting like she strips him down Like he's in his underwear when uh, she like she climbs on top of him on this hood of this car But then she gets like too hot, you know what I mean? No, because she's a fire starter Oh, what? That's what's the fire. Oh, wait a fire what?
She gets like too horny and then like lights an entire building on fire, right? Is that yeah? Yeah, I gotta go and then like to build lights a building presumably that club full of people on fire And then just leaves right just leaves Yeah, like she walks out of the alley and the entire alley is like engulfed in flames And she's just like doing this cool like on the fire started like walking like through the flames That walk away from an explosion thing. Yeah, that made me really sad that she can't come I I thought the same thing.
I'm like, oh, she can never be like close with anybody. Yeah, it's sad Yeah, but also she burned an entire club full of people that made me less sad for her. Yeah, um so whatever they're Through like a series of like, I don't know like through danny newchee like looking into all of these things and like uh, what's her name? Charlie working at the same college where he's doing the research.
They find each other they start talking and um he like Does he before they start like hooking up and stuff? Does he know who like she is that she's a twisted yeah, that's that's why she lets him in the apartment. Right? Okay.
Yeah. Oh wait. No, no He doesn't know when they hook up because she just like kicks him out. He's like what what's going on?
Oh, doesn't know He knows that she's like somehow involved or maybe that her I don't know because I I think Well, he tracks her down. He to give her edmec man money I think what I think happens is because she is living like under a different name, right? So she He comes uh to school and to find out more information about these other lot six people, right? And in doing that he meets her and she is like interested in this because it's like very connected to her life, but also like um She like basically volunteers to help him.
I think they had that whole like weird conversation about like red kryptonite and yellow kryptonite and all that shit Uh, that was so annoying. It was really annoying. Um, well, I forgot that 2002 It was still crazy to be like the girl like son of a nerd thing. Yeah.
Oh, yeah Yeah, yeah, it was wait. She said the word kryptonite Oh, I'm sorry. This chick this chick knows the difference between the different colors on grand night. Right.
She's a real catch She's real fire starter Um How humiliating yeah, so they start so she goes uh she goes back to his hotel room, right? And they start hooking up again Get it done and she like she starts like getting too horny again And then she like runs out and he turns on the light in his room and the whole room is like singed That's right. Um, man. I which I I liked that part.
It was like it too. This is like this is very stupid and I like it Um So like he he has been researching like all of these lot six people all these experiment people and he's actually he's looked into charlie before but You know, it's all included. She was dead right right that she's been yeah, she's been dead this whole time Um, and now it's like oh wait a second not dead you're charlie. You're a twisted fire starter.
Um, let me help you out But correction she's a twisted fire starter to rekindled. That's right. I'm sorry But he's also like what is going on with all of these other people and he like he goes back to like look into like people He's found that he like is supposed to be getting money to and they're all like it's coming up like this person doesn't exist Like they've been erased and whatever and they're all dead and he's like oh no. Oh no.
No, no, no There's that like moment of him like freaking out like i've killed so many people Shit shit. Yeah. It's a group of It's like the funniest fucking joke ever Uh, I really I mean that whole movie is incredible that whole movie is great But that like the whole like putting the team back together scene just to like accidentally blow That day yeah because that van is loaded with c4 that I packed myself That's the best uh this what is this been return of the mac that's not like a Yeah, it's over though. So that's over.
So what they end up like parting ways and she goes to the company Or i'm sorry the shop um And is like, you know, i'll like i'm here like what's what are we doing? What's the deal? And like malcomic dallas there he's like come come with us, you know, we can oh by the way john reynbert british now Wasn't always now he is yeah. He's no longer native american.
He is really yeah I love it because like george c scott plays him in the first movie right who is also british Is that or no? No, I thought he was maybe who am I thinking of um mouth who's a british? Oh, you know what? I'm thinking of margaret Thatcher.
Oh, that's my mistake. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah george c scottamarker that's yeah Scott as george c's got us from a virginia.
Oh shit. I was way up. Why do you think he was british? No, maybe just uh the strangelop connection.
I was thinking of uh, what's his name? Peter seller sellers Yeah, it's like Stanley Kubrick is british right and then he's not he's like he's from the bronx. He's from the fucking bronx Yeah, I was shocked to learn that he's got like a new your real he's a real greg proops like an american guy who says bloody Oh, yeah, yeah, oh man Is the most annoying thing in the world prove bless you bless you proves, but uh, that's very annoying. Yeah, he's listening Yeah, I feel like I've also heard him be like and then I met some bloke at the pub at you pub 100% said that his blood is brilliant is fucking bloke.
Yeah, I almost like it, but I definitely don't Yeah, uh, so uh, yeah, she goes she goes she hops to the shop and there's johnny. Yeah johnny shot um And I don't know fucking like then danny knew she like finds out what's going on He's like oh shit. She was going to the shop to like find out find answers and stuff But they're just gonna kill her so he like they're in the middle of this town, which like They must have just like had access to a backlot or something because it was like a wild west town Yeah, it's like that that's how bad it looks it reminds me of the uh like the the town square from uh back to the future It's just like yeah, yeah, just like a couple like roads and like nondescript uh like shops and whatever like a movie Movie theater marquee with fake movies on it right right? Yeah, that sort of thing Um, so they go there and so he's like he saves her Um they're running through the building and they come across all these like other like young boys who have super powers And they're all like it's like telekinesis strong boys.
There's one strong boy There's one who's got like like the banshee like can scream real out thing. That was very funny Um one can like tell if you're lying. I don't know there's a bunch of stuff That's a way yeah, he really gets like the short end of the power stick considering he has no eyes right Yeah, right. Yeah, everyone else is like yeah, he just has no eyes.
Yeah one kid's like yeah I can scream as super sonically one kid's like I can make people do whatever I say right another kids like I Sappity energy I eat fire basically. Yeah, and he's just like yeah, I'm blind and I can tell if someone's being honest or not Or someone's doing a little fib. I I'll be the first to know yeah very weak very weak. He um Uh, so but that that one child who can absorb all that energy.
That's like his whole deal So she's like throwing all this fire at him and he's just absorbing it all he can't he you're like oh no How are these what's the boss battle gonna be like between these two? Yeah, but you also see him get winded yeah at first encounter So like right you know what the boss battle is gonna be like no It's gonna be him doing his thing until he gets sleepy And then he'll uh then he'll fall apart. Yeah, so in this uh like they're escaping and whatever and she gets away But Danny knew she is captured um and while she's out she's gonna like hop a bus. Um, she Dennis hopper He uh, I don't know he like starts talking to her in the bus station And he's just like he's one of the people that they experimented on and he can see Um all time so like it's very confusing what his powers like how they work It's it's just like he there's no he's I mean he explains it.
There's no freedom of choice or anything There's just the illusion of freedom everything has been planned out already. I know everything like Uh, I can see all of time so forward and backwards. I could just see everything that's going to happen and everything that has happened Um, it's kind of like those aliens in um He shikers guides in the galaxy. Yeah like What I don't understand is like I don't know he seems like he's covering his own ass a few times when someone's like well John Rainbird keeps like in the way that like you know people when they want to be very Funny we'll say things like oh, yeah, you're a psychic.
How come you know what was gonna come in here? Yeah, like he keeps pulling that on him except he's kind of got a case like why didn't why did Dennis hopper just keep playing into The hand like I know he keeps saying it's inevitable But if he knows the path when strays from the path then doesn't it change? Well, I don't know it You're right because if if he knows everything that's gonna happen, right? He shouldn't be surprised by anything that happens.
Um, yeah But he is continually surprised he does seem surprised a couple times Um, I don't know That that's almost like a time travel thing where you're like but if he goes back in time and changes this and won't this be different when he gets back like I don't know. It was not brain this movie at all. I don't know he fucking made easy writer But he's playing playing a character named playing a character named Richardson, which not to lonely island too much But I could only think of uh fucking uh hot rod Oh, yeah, have you seen hot rod? Of course get out of the pool Richardson.
Yeah, there is no tool in this pool Oh my god. I love it so much. That's another great movie. Yeah, this has been uh Rodding rotting around the christmas tree Danny Nuchi It was good.
That was good. Yeah, and it's good. So and it's good. So good.
Um, it's good. So that's great Yeah I don't know. There's like a whole other like weird subplot with that woman. Um, van what was her name?
Van van kelberg? Of all of her and diagram She they kill her and then like they're gonna do the autopsy on her But she's not dead and like right before they start sawing her head open Um, she screams out and then like you don't do you have that clip by any chance because that's very funny when when she's like when the autopsy is happening Yeah, and the doctor is like, you know taking notes and stuff and they'll just cut to her laying still and then they like adr And uh like with a lot of echo on her voice her going. I'm not dead. Yeah.
Yeah, man. Someone help me It's so stupid. It's like they really didn't need because she blinked so why she did like She blinks she fucking blinks. That's a dead giveaway that she's not dead right every time every time Um, but the whole plot with her like they kill her then she's not dead So she they you know, they want to talk to her like these new like FBI agents or whatever want to talk to her but then um, uh Some like the one of the kid the persuasive kid just they do everything that he says.
He just like the persuasive kid Well, he's made some really compelling arguments. Yeah. Yeah, he can convince anybody Um, uh, the art of the deal The persuasive kid Yeah But there's that whole thing where she like she brings the FBI agents to the shop They're like investigating it And then the kids use their powers on these agents and like send them away and she is like she sees reindberg She's gonna shoot him and then they just shoot her dead like it doesn't there's nothing to that at all like she There's no consequences like as far as like she's just dead like we thought she was dead before and now She's just dead now. I don't know.
Yeah, she just lived longer than we thought right Same to the same consequence. Yeah, um Stumb Um, it's bad. Yeah, that's pretty bad. Is that the point of which she goes back to the shop again or where it's not the shop It's well, it's so they meet they're in this like so before when they were at the shop They were in this like air plane hanger, right?
And that's where the whole set for that town was was in like an airplane hanger There was that one fucking stupid shot Where they're like running they're like trying to get into like storefronts and stuff like I thought that was so funny And they fucking run into like a pay it's like a paper like a mat backdrop Yeah, it's a mat backdrop and they run into it and they're like oh and then they move the thing aside And they're like running around it. It's so stupid. It's funny. It's not very big Like they move a few feet off screen and grab like the metal frame Right clearly visible mill frame.
Yeah, and then they um they can't get out So what they do is they paint a hole on the floor and going down it right? Oh my god, it was so loony tunes. It was so dumb. Yeah, it's very funny So but then they like find another door which I thought was another fake area because it's very fake And especially because Richardson is driving Dennis Hopper right Dennis Hopper is driving a like an old old car Yeah, it just looked like very like Truman show not real at all.
Um, but it was so they're way yeah, yeah So real so that way is this like that scene at like that little gas station country store thing Is that the first time we hear about Danny Nuchi's strained relationship with his father? No, it's actually it's in like the first scene He's like his brother is like hey, you're gonna see dad and he's like no I'm not his brother keeps saying like he's not doing well. I yeah, I'll go, you know eventually or whatever Um, so let there be lessons everybody, you know, just don't wait to do these things. All right.
Yeah, because uh life comes out You fasten when you least expect it a uh, you burn if you don't stop to look down Sorry That's right. You don't stop and look around once in a while. Uh, you're gonna get stabbed by the native american fellow who loves the the children Diddly right the bad guy he's a bad guy real bad guy Uh, we should put that entire rambling thought on a bumper sticker Um, he's a bad guy. Yeah uh, but yeah, that's not where it takes Danny Nuchi and and charlie to Uh to this town and they're both both of them are just like this is weird.
What's going on here? And they're like oh shit. This is a replica of the town Oh, this is the actual town that we were in the replica of earlier um, and then fucking makdao shows up and the kids are all there and then all hell starts breaking loose and Uh, fucking Danny Nuchi. Yeah, Danny Nuchi gets like a sharpened chopstick like driven into his head Yeah, and it's not the first time we see that sharpened chopstick.
He uses it on someone else on um Uh, the guy who kind of looks like Skinner from x files. Yes The shop or something. Did you also think that about him? 100% Yeah, I was very disappointed when he wasn't Skinner from the x files Yeah, um Hey, here's a word of advice for any would-be skinners out there if you can't be the real Skinner don't even try Okay, come on if you hey if your name ain't Mitch paledgy, uh, you uh, how about you go get a wedgie?
Because you're you don't have what it takes right you're a bag your bag guy The new bumper sticker. Yeah one for each bumper that one goes on the front bumper You have to have all the letters have to be backwards so people could read it in the rear view done Yeah, if anyone if anyone wants to transcribe that I would love to know what I just said I have no idea Yeah, so so yeah, so they're in this town and uh those those very strong children The strong boys are all over the place. Yeah, the strong boys are there and then so they kill he kills Danny newji And then charlie starts like getting all uh twisted and fire started Oh, did we did you say that the strong boys have like started revolting and destroying the town and killing people? Yeah, they they've started using all of their powers to uh to terrorize this town and the plan The plan is that this is a show of power that will buy them a contract with the department of defense I guess correct.
I don't know that because at one point. I don't know I think john ramber just wants to be the king of the boys and take over the world. Yeah, I think that's his name He doesn't want to be a boy king. Yeah So man, we'll talk about this off air, but remember the boy king.
Yeah, dude The boy Duke the boy Duke. That's right. Yeah, he wasn't even a king. Yeah.
Yeah boy. Duke. All right, um So what ends up happening is like the kids start like sort of like turning on uh malg McDowell and they're like, maybe not maybe we're just uh, maybe we should just be boys and not terrorize everybody Uh, maybe we're doing the wrong thing. I agree.
Yeah, and then charlie starts I don't know she like loses her shit for a second and like starts blowing up some of the town herself um, and then there's that moment between her and uh Well, there's there's a thing between her and alkamikdall where they're like about the kiss and the don't Oh, no, I'm sorry. They do they do and then she just blows. Yeah, she just sets him on fire and like turns him to ash And then her and again very loony toonsie like his ash holds the shape of him before it collapses. Yes.
Yeah Um, so then immediately after that, uh, the strongest boy the boy who can like that he just absorbs all energy He gets shot a couple times. I think and he just like absorbs it. Yeah, he's like he's the bad boy, right Um, he comes he comes at charlie and goes in for a hug Basically, he keeps saying he keeps saying I want all your power and like he wants to absorb all of her power and kill her So he goes in for a hug, uh, but then he can't contain it which we already knew right we knew that Yeah, so and and then he just sort of like He's like a ball of fire and he flies off but then he turns into a boy again. I don't know.
That's weird Um, it is weird. You know what that's pretty weird. It's pretty weird and then she's like charlie Um, she visits danny new she's dad and said he really wanted to see you and everybody like okay Who are you and then she gets on a bus and like and just they just go to live in canada? Oh and go to living houses or understanding.
Yeah. Well, that's what denisage I've never said she would do so right it stands to right. Yeah. Yeah, dammit Can you hear me?
Yeah, I can. Can you not hear yourself? Oh, no, I thought I I thought I couldn't but I can yeah And that's very smart. That's the fire starter to rekindled Good rekindling.
Yeah, rekindling. Let's do some segments, huh? Oh, that hurts my parts. Hey, oh that hurts my parts.
Hey, you know, I would say with each of these movies You know, we got a lot of rough moments Usually there's one part that hurts our parts more than the other parts Are you doing so that hurts my parts are you doing paltia right now? I'm doing a little copy better. I didn't write that I was trying to you know, what if someone's a new listener and they don't know what oh that hurts my parts means Well, yeah, this is oh, I think it becomes this is very quickly evident. Yeah, oh that hurts my parts where we just say the Are these favorite parts?
Yeah, what hurt your parts? Oh man. This whole movie was really tough to get through. It's yeah, it's hard to watch I didn't enjoy it now Um, it's not it's it does suck.
Yeah, it's a real fucking. I don't know. It just drags on forever Um, yeah, Debra van valkenberg. Yeah real low point for me That would like yeah, I like when people go apeshit.
I didn't really care for that. It made me uneasy Yeah, no, I'm with you. I thought her her performance her whole thing everything about her character here probably could have Uh, just been taken out. Yeah, she was bad.
Maybe burning down a building full of innocent club goers That was rough, but let's uh let's flip the script. This is shining moments. What did you like about this movie? Yeah Can you hear me?
What no, where am I hear me? Shit, I hear me. I hear me real good. Um here.
Can you not? Oh, jeez One second. Oh Oh Do you hear me? I do.
Oh, thank god. Can you hear yourself? I can hear me real good. All right Oh Welcome back to the show Sorry about that folks.
We had a bit of a technical difficulty. Yeah, but it's good. All right, so that it happened All right. Um, we we we we left off on we were talking about shining moments Uh, I don't I don't think either of us got to say ours.
All right, so I'm gonna do it again. Ready? Okay This is shining moments. Uh, this is the moments that shine did Against the other moments.
They were the bright bright stars in the night sky. Yeah, so we started before the dawn Um, I'm trying to think what was my shining moment? All right, can it go ahead? No, my my favorite moment was when he like Danny knew she turns on the lights in his whole room as That's really funny.
I think like yeah, all the all the possibly intentionally comedic beats were very funny. Um, the fucking yeah The looney tunes running into a backdrop was very funny. It only could have been better if a car drove out of it after Uh, so yeah, that yeah looney tune business is always going to be my shining moment, uh, which brings us to king tropes Um, yeah, that's how the book I'm working on now. This is spooky monster All right, trope.
What do we got? We've wrote me up daddy. Um, the shop fire starters. Yeah, John right now.
Yeah, man boy love Yeah, yeah, oh yeah strong bonds between old men and old british men and young boys. I'm talking heart-sailing lannas, baby. Yeah What else traveling great distances only to die immediately Danny new she oh poor newch yeah, he goes he goes quick. Um, oh wait No, let's say what's her name.
There's screaming lady Who she goes to she dies and comes back and then dies. Oh my god. You're right though She like she goes to the FBI they go to the fucking shop and she is like she they just shoot her like pretty quick Immediately, uh those guys they fired off a lot of rounds only to hit her twice. She was like 10 feet away.
They're getting closer. They're bad They're not good marks. No, they're bad guys. They're bad guys Um, what else?
I don't know. It's not really a lot. Um to the city. Yeah, it's a sequel Yeah, we never have as many that brings us to our final segment.
I am DB They just cheated us. This isn't fair This is IMDB where we compare our opinion of the movie against the average users going on IMDB.com 24,000 souls, uh, no, they're they're 2,400 souls voted and gave their opinion of this movie. Yeah, sorry. Uh, could you imagine if 24,000 people had seen this?
No Those those 2,400 weirdos they gave their opinion and awarded it an average score of five out of 10 stars That means this movie is halfway to perfect. No, it's it's really not I'll give it a I'll give it three stars one star for each hour. That's not watching. That's it That's a participation star.
That's right. Yeah, every hour of film you make you get one star So if only this had been a 10 hour mini series, yeah, well, yeah Maybe if you try the water, maybe if you had made it three times as long it would have been better Right, right. Yeah. No, I can't I can't go in good conscience.
Give this more than three stars I'll go to hell if I give it more to the first Yep Yeah, so we agree this movie sucks and that's it Oh, um, no, I think one of the kids was a slimmer. Oh cool. Yeah That was really fun. That's old.
Never gets old. Yeah, it's too bad. It's too bad. It doesn't get old Oh, man.
Yeah, so guys that's my piece. Yeah, that's it. There's nothing. There's nothing else to say about this piece of shit Um, yeah, so uh, how about this?
Thanks for listening guys. Thank you so much. Yeah, if you're a patreon donor Thank you so much for that. Yeah, god. That's how you I just watched the thing the other night for fun No, yeah, we just threw it on yeah, because it's fucking great. That's the thing like all of these movies we watched Uh, we just recorded the episode for the fog, right? And uh, during like I watched that and then I watched big trouble in little china just because it's a fucking romp and I love it Yeah, it's just you just you want to watch more of them.

Yeah, that's nice Yeah, and so yeah, and again, uh, if you want to if you don't have money But you want to help out the show you can always rate and review us on uh, iTunes that helps new listeners find the show Uh, we also has teespring stores still working. Does that work?
Um, I honestly have not checked it We might have a teespring store. So uh, if that's available, it'll be in the show notes as well We have a couple t-shirts or um, yeah, we have a legitimate scary movie guy t-shirt any legitimate scary movie woman t-shirt Right, uh, that's a reference to what's his name. Um, stam Winston. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, who is in fact a legitimate scary movie guy Yeah, uh, and then so that's it, right? Yeah, that's pretty much it. Do you know?
Do you know what's next next week? We're we're gonna see the first remake of carry so this is carry from 2002 A this will be week two of uh, metaphors for uh, metaphors for puberty. Yeah metaphors for menstruation fest. We do Uh, so uh, also we could call it, you know what?
This will be our fire festival. Okay. Yeah, they both make fires happen. They both they yeah, yeah A couple of fire starters.
Yeah, we're a couple of firefighters. We are. Yeah, that's nice of you to say No, I think we're working we could be we're okay. I don't have the men's ease to be a fire starter One of the great regrets of my life.
I'm not having the men's ease. Yeah, too bad too bad. All right Well, that'll just about yeah on that note, uh talk to you in a week. So that'd be the last thing you hear from me right shows uh, Oh, yes.
So until next week, I'm jank egg lee already. I'm rob a bond steve Okay And that's it
