He's right—there are plenty of reasons why conservatives should be concerned about the death penalty. The death penalty isn't cost-effective, it doesn't deter crime, and it can be applied unfairly. It also doesn't work as a deterrent and often isn't even used as punishment by states that still have it on the books.
