My second annual birthday episode has arrived, absurdly late due to circumstances beyond our control. But it’s here, and that’s all that matters. Furthermore, due to an unforeseen personal upheaval that affected all of us, I decided maybe we shouldn’t do Rocky and Bullwinkle (which was my original birthday pick) at this point, so instead we’re looking at 20th Century Women, Mike Mills’ Oscar-nominated story of a mother, a son and their friends living and loving together in 1979 California.
