We are celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month on the podcast. This week I had Tash Butranon @Kawaiimoonshine on the podcast. She owns a festival accessory brand for people and pets called Mystic Chili. We talk about her experiences as an Asian American dealing with stereotypes, racism, and breaking cultural boundaries. She shares some of her favorite education resources on API. We also talk about starting a business in the pandemic, why you shouldn’t wait to start a business, and pivoting in your business when the times get tough. She is a second-generation, who was the first to go to university in her family and got double degrees (in apparel design and in merchandising). Her love for dance music started when she was young. Her dad listened to gangster rap while her mum listened to the new wave. She started raving in 2013 by accident, even though she was a scene kid and wore Kandi in high school. She is Filipino, Lao, Thai, and Indian. She is an entrepreneur, YouTuber, and content creator. She makes content for people who look and have shared experiences growing up as an Asian American.
